33: The hidden secrets of the family

The middle-aged man in the Spirit Beast Stable stopped what he was doing and looked at Lin Yuheng and Lin Yongmao.

"Clan Chief, these Yao Beasts are very wild, especially that Spirit-devouring Iron Beast; I'm afraid it won't be tamed in a short time."

Lin Yubai sighed, speaking truthfully.

"Yubai, we're brothers, didn't I tell you not to call me Clan Chief anymore? Why do you always not listen?" Lin Yuheng said, somewhat displeased.

"Hello, Cousin-Grandfather!" Lin Yongmao quickly greeted him respectfully; he was a Junior, and being sweet-tongued in the Family would bring benefits.

"So Yongmao has come. Is this your first time here? Are you looking to tame a Spirit Beast?"

Lin Yongmao scratched the back of his head and said, "Nothing escapes Cousin-Grandfather; I indeed have that intention."

"Exchanging for a Spirit Beast requires a lot of contribution points, at least five hundred to start. Have you accumulated enough?" Lin Yubai smiled and then said.

Lin Yuheng said, "Today, I accompanied him here, didn't I? I'll cover the contribution points for my nephew."

Lin Yongmao did not refuse. Instead, he pointed to a hamster-like Yao Beast not far away and said, "I want that one, the Spirit-devouring Iron Beast!"

Lin Yubai frowned and said, "Don't joke, Yongmao. This is a First-Order Eighth-Layer Spirit-devouring Iron Beast. Even I can't tame it for now, so even if you exchange for it, it will be useless.

You can exchange for a Medicine-Pounding Mouse, a First-Order Third-Layer Cultivation; it perfectly suits your identity as a First-Order Spiritual Planter, and it can even assist you in cultivating Spirit Medicine!"

The Spirit-devouring Iron Beast resembles a hamster, with chubby cheeks, making it very cute.

However, its size is more than a circle larger than a typical hamster; an adult Spirit-devouring Iron Beast can be as large as a strong bear, and its Cultivation can reach Second-Order.

This Spirit-devouring Iron Beast should not be an adult yet, only the size of a gray wolf.

"A Metal-attribute Yao Beast, it loves to eat Ore and also possesses excellent mining abilities. If it can be tamed, it's equivalent to having an experienced miner."

This was all the information Lin Yongmao knew about the Spirit-devouring Iron Beast.

But what he didn't expect was the great difficulty in taming a Spirit-devouring Iron Beast.

Even a First-Order Beast Tamer couldn't easily tame it, let alone him.

"No matter, I'll take it first!" Lin Yongmao looked at Lin Yubai with determined eyes as he spoke.

"But..."

Lin Yubai was about to continue persuading, but Lin Yuheng stopped him. He said, "The child has his own considerations; let's not interfere too much. But you must temporarily seal this Spirit-devouring Iron Beast's Cultivation, lest it suddenly injure Yongmao."

"That's natural!"

Lin Yubai said, "Yongmao, since you insist on this Spirit-devouring Iron Beast, I suggest you learn a contract for taming Spirit Beasts. Only after forming a contract with a Yao Beast can it truly become your Spirit Beast."

What a Beast Tamer can do is merely remove the wildness from a Yao Beast, making the contract easier to succeed.

"Can this Yao Beast contract be exchanged for in the Scripture Pavilion?" Lin Yongmao asked.

Lin Yubai nodded.

Lin Yongmao continued, "Thank you, Uncle and Cousin-Grandfather. This Spirit-devouring Iron Beast and I are fated, so I will take it with me."

Originally, Lin Yongmao wanted to spend his own contribution points, but Lin Yuheng insisted on refusing, so Lin Yongmao reluctantly agreed.

The Spirit-devouring Iron Beast was placed under a Restriction by Lin Yubai; all its Cultivation had been sealed, and it was then put into a Spirit Beast Pouch, which was handed to Lin Yongmao.

"This is a Spirit Beast Pouch, specifically used to store Spirit Beasts. Although the internal space is not large, Spirit Beasts can get a good rest inside."

This was given to Lin Yongmao by Lin Yubai, who paid out of his own pocket.

Lin Yongmao, of course, knew that regular Storage Pouches could not store living creatures, especially Spirit Beasts; they would immediately lose their vitality upon entering a Storage Pouch.

This Spirit Beast Pouch, however, solved this problem very well.

Depart!

Next stop, the Family Scripture Pavilion.

As the Family Clan Chief, Lin Yuheng naturally wouldn't continue to stroll with Lin Yongmao; Lin Yongmao went to the Scripture Pavilion alone.

The Scripture Pavilion is located on the highest peak of Cloud Mist Mountain, where it is desolate and rarely visited by people.

According to the Lin Family rules, one must go to the Scripture Pavilion alone, and the Legacy, Cultivation Technique, and Spell obtained from the Scripture Pavilion cannot be passed on to anyone, not even one's closest relatives.

Lin Yongmao had been here twice.

The first time, he obtained the Qi Refinement Stage Cultivation Technique, "Azure Wood Art."

The second time, he came here to learn two small Spells: "Wood Spike Technique" and "Water Arrow Technique."

An old man guards the Scripture Pavilion; Lin Yongmao should call him Second Uncle-Grandfather, who is his grandfather's younger brother.

He is also Lin Yubai's father, whom he just saw.

Lin Yongmao ascended to the summit of Cloud Mist Mountain; the cliffs here are steep, and Mortals would certainly find it difficult to set foot here.

Since Lin Yongmao could not yet fly, it took him a long time to slowly climb to the top of the peak, where he saw the Scripture Pavilion built on a relatively flat piece of land.

The Scripture Pavilion was not large, a two-story plain brick house, unpretentious.

But all of the Lin Family's Legacy began here!

Lin Yongmao stood on the peak, looking down at the clouds below, and immediately felt as if the whole world was beneath his feet.

Such a magnificent sight is truly rare!

"Cough cough..."

A cough interrupted Lin Yongmao's enjoyment of the beautiful scenery.

"Heh heh, I never thought there would be someone who comes to the Scripture Pavilion not urgently seeking their needed Cultivation Technique or secret art, but rather to first admire the scenery."

An old voice accompanied by coughing attracted all of Lin Yongmao's attention.

Following the sound, he could see a thin, wizened old man with a face full of dry wrinkles.

"Second Uncle-Grandfather!"

Lin Yongmao quickly bowed respectfully.

"I remember... you're Yongmao, right? You've grown so big all of a sudden."

Even if they hadn't met many times, Cultivators have astonishing memories, and Lin Xuanzhong also remembered Lin Yongmao.

"Yes, I am Yongmao."

As Lin Yongmao answered, he could feel a decaying aura on this Second Uncle-Grandfather, as if one of his feet had already stepped into the grave.

This Second Uncle-Grandfather's Cultivation was impressive; Lin Yongmao had already detected it through his Attribute Panel.

Lin Xuanzhong: Late Foundation Establishment Stage.

Last time he observed Second Uncle Lin Yumo, he was in the Early Foundation Establishment Stage, and this unrevealed Second Uncle-Grandfather in front of him was also a Foundation Establishment Stage Cultivator, and had even reached the terrifying Late Foundation Establishment Stage.

How much strength did the Lin Family hide?

Lin Yongmao was not afraid, but happy, genuinely happy.

The Family was not an aggressive Family force, but chose to bide its time, deeply hiding its heritage.

This coincided with his philosophy of Dao.

Such a Family would not easily cause trouble, would not be envied by other forces, and would not be completely without means of counterattack when facing sudden crises.

It was truly excellent!
