Chapter 103: Why Did She Draw Her Blade?

Firebombs descended from the sky, landing on the body of the Living Soil and erupting into a raging fire.

Scorched by the high temperature, the Living Soil quickly retracted.

The Living Soil enveloping Jing Yuan's body was also affected by the heat, rapidly retreating to the ground and allowing Jing Yuan's body to be exposed.

On the ground, the other three armored vehicles had already headed toward the rendezvous point. Only one armored vehicle remained to pick up Marc and Jing Yuan.

Penny brought Jing Yuan out, finding his body limp and weak.

Jing Yuan controlled his helmet to retract, gasping for air.

Penny hurriedly asked, "Jing Yuan, are you alright!"

Jing Yuan reached out to stop Penny from approaching. "Stay away from me, I've been infected by the crimson toxin."

"What!" Penny looked shocked; there was no precedent for anyone infected by the crimson toxin being cured.

Marc, Jeff, and Ran Bing also caught up.

Marc said hurriedly, "Let's go, quickly!" But turning his head to see Jing Yuan slumped on the ground, he rushed over. "Jing Yuan, what happened to you!"

Jing Yuan reached out to stop him. "Don't come over, I've been infected by the crimson toxin!"

Marc thought for a moment and said quickly, "Everyone, put on your masks. Take Jing Yuan back to the Lighthouse for treatment."

Mo Cheng brought masks for everyone to put on.

After putting on his mask, Marc went over to help Jing Yuan up.

"How do you feel?"

"I'm okay! There are hallucinations interfering!" Jing Yuan still had the ability to distinguish between reality and illusion.

"Hallucinations occur after being infected by the crimson toxin. But I think your condition is okay, don't worry! You'll be fine!"

"Watch out for that guy, 4068!"

Marc helped Jing Yuan to the side of the armored vehicle. At that moment, a Dust Citizen walked over, seemingly prepared to help Marc support Jing Yuan.

Before it even hit the ground, the bomb exploded in mid-air.

Marc immediately realized that the Dust Citizen in front of him intended to kill him with a bomb.

He raised his foot and kicked the Dust Citizen away.

The others hadn't reacted yet; they only noticed the anomaly after seeing the explosion.

Mo Cheng quickly restrained the Dust Citizen.

"Dust Citizen 4144, what did you do!"

4144 had a crazed, silly grin on his face. It was a suicide attack; he hadn't intended to live at all.

He pulled out a dagger, preparing to commit suicide.

Jing Yuan reached out and forcibly restrained him.

"Handcuff him and take him back to the Lighthouse for interrogation," Jing Yuan said in a weak voice.

Mo Cheng immediately used handcuffs to restrain 4144.

Jing Yuan's consciousness recovered slightly, and he asked again, "Where is 4068!"

"In the car!"

"Hmph! That kid sure runs fast! Handcuff him too!"

Marc, beside him, was startled. "He was also arranged to carry out an assassination?"

Jing Yuan looked back at Marc and said, "You finally understand!"

Marc's expression darkened. "When we were getting the medicine just now, someone attacked me from behind! But it wasn't a Dust Citizen; it was an Upper Citizen."

As the group was about to board the vehicle, Flying Snow, who was standing on top of the armored vehicle on lookout, suddenly said, "Captain, there are people behind us!"

"People?"

Everyone looked back together. Five figures were walking over from the direction of the Nirvana Research Institute.

The leader was a person with short silver-white hair and a doll-like face; behind a pair of long, snow-white legs, a robe fluttered in the wind.

Following behind were two women and two men. The men, one fat and one thin, were Great Mountain and Xu Tong.

The women, one tall and one short, were Star Shatterer and Summer Bean.

The group's attire was completely different from that of the Lighthouse residents. The Wasteland Hunters soon realized that these people came from The Surface.

Seeing Bai Yuekui's group, a slight smile appeared on Jing Yuan's face as he thought: I'm saved!

He pulled away from Marc's support and walked forward. Just as he was about to speak, he saw Bai Yuekui draw her blade!

Jing Yuan's gaze froze. What was she doing drawing her blade?

Bai Yuekui pointed her blade at the Wasteland Hunters and said, "Marc stays, the rest can go!"

Hearing that they wanted to take Marc, the Wasteland Hunters immediately chambered their rounds and aimed at Bai Yuekui's group.

Jing Yuan hadn't recovered from the shock. Wasn't Bai Yuekui a protagonist figure?

Marc stepped forward and asked, "Who are you people?"

Bai Yuekui said coldly, "No need for nonsense. Let's begin!"

Great Mountain was behind Bai Yuekui; upon receiving the order, he charged out directly.

Great Mountain had a burly and sturdy build, like a meat shield. He held an octagonal shield in his left hand and a hammer in his right.

The Wasteland Hunters opened fire, bullets flying toward Great Mountain.

Great Mountain dodged a few bullets and blocked several others before charging at Jeff, who was closest to him.

Although Jeff was piloting a gravity body, Great Mountain knocked the machine gun out of his hand with a single hammer strike.

Jeff still wanted to fight back and threw a punch.

As a result, Great Mountain struck again with his hammer, directly disabling the gravity body's arm.

On the other side, Star Shatterer drew her bow and aimed an arrow at Penny, who had raised her machine gun.

The arrow hit the ankle of Penny's gravity body. The arrowhead exploded slightly, and the ankle component of the gravity body snapped.

Penny lost her balance and fell to the ground.

Marc and Ran Bing fired a volley at Bai Yuekui, but she dodged them all.

Xu Tong, wearing a mask, rushed in front of them. He had no weapon in his hand, but he performed a grappling move on Marc.

As the Lighthouse's number one warrior, it had been a long time since anyone dared to engage Marc in close-quarters combat.
