540: Yin Shiniang's arrow shot into the sky
"Li Jing!" the Dragon King of the East Sea glared, "Look at these good sons of yours! They stirred up the East Sea and injured my beloved son. If you don't give me an explanation today, I will flood Chentang Pass and have all the people in your city be buried with him!"
Li Jing's face turned pale, and he forced himself to stay calm: "Brother Ao Guang, let's talk this over! This... there must be a misunderstanding!"
"Misunderstanding?" the South Sea Dragon King Ao Qin sneered, "Commander Li, your sons have quite the ability. Not only did they beat up my eldest and second nephews, but they also almost overturned my East Sea Dragon Palace! Is this how the Li family teaches its children?"
Lady Yin rushed over upon hearing the news. Seeing her sons in such a state, her heart felt like it was being sliced by knives, but she dared not speak much, only gripping Li Jing's arm tightly.
Li Jing took a deep breath, knowing that if he didn't concede today, Chentang Pass would be in danger. He dismounted and bowed deeply to the Four Dragon Kings of the Four Seas:
"Four Dragon Kings, please calm your anger! It is Li Jing's failure to discipline his sons that led these rebellious children to cause such a disaster!"
He raised his head, his eyes full of earnestness: "Every mistake is my fault. My children are young and ignorant, clashing with the Dragon Palace; they deserve death. I only ask that the Four Dragon Kings take into account that I, Li Jing, have guarded Chentang Pass for many years and that we have been good neighbors, and spare their lives!"
The West Sea Dragon King Ao Run snorted: "Li Jing, you certainly know how to talk. But today's matter cannot be settled with just a word from you!"
"Hold on!" Lady Yin shouted: "The four Dragon Kings have arrived together to capture my children. I, Lady Yin, have a question to ask here!"
"Have my children killed any dragon offspring?"
"Have my children killed any dragon offspring?" Lady Yin asked, raising her head, her Phoenix-like eyes containing authority.
"No!" the Dragon King of the East Sea Ao Guang replied in a deep voice.
"Then why, when it comes to a playful dispute between children, have you four, the dignified Dragon Kings and rulers of the Four Seas, disregarded your status to personally take action against a group of young children?"
Lady Yin's voice was clear and echoed over Chentang Pass, "Bullying the small with the big, oppressing the weak with the strong—is this the rule of the Dragon Clan?"
The Four Dragon Kings were speechless for a moment.
The North Sea Dragon King Ao Shun frowned and said: "Lady Yin, that is incorrect! Your sons stirred up the East Sea and shook the Dragon Palace first, and then captured our Dragon Clan's crown prince. How can this be considered a simple playful dispute between children?"
"May I ask Dragon King Ao Shun," Lady Yin showed no weakness:
"How vast is the East Sea? How sturdy is the Dragon Palace? Can a few children playing around shake the Dragon Palace? If that is truly the case, then the East Sea Dragon Palace is simply too fragile!"
She paused, her voice becoming louder: "Furthermore, when juniors fight, they should bear the consequences of winning or losing themselves. If they lose and call their parents, or can't win and call their father—if my Li family children were so useless, I, Lady Yin, would be the first to break their legs!"
As soon as these words were spoken, the bound Eleven Zha shouted:
"Mother is right!"
"We will bear the consequences of our own fights!"
"Little White Dragon is a sore loser!"
Ao Guang's face turned livid, while Ao Bing and Ao Jia beside him were flushed with shame.
"Lady Yin, what a sharp tongue you have!"
The South Sea Dragon King Ao Qin sneered, "But today's matter, can it be settled with just a few words of reasoning? It is a fact that your sons stirred up my East Sea and captured my nephew! If we don't get an explanation, where will the face of the Four Seas Dragon Clan go?"
Just as Lady Yin was about to retort, Li Jing pulled on her sleeve and whispered: "Wife, take a step back and the sea and sky will be vast..."
"Step back from what!"
Lady Yin shook off his hand and said loudly to the sky, "Since the four Dragon Kings want an explanation, fine! I, Lady Yin, will give you an explanation today!"
She turned and ordered the guards below the city wall: "Bring me my bow and arrows!"
Before long, four soldiers carried a giant bow up to the city tower, and one soldier carried five large arrows up.
This bow was pitch black, and the bowstring was actually made of dragon tendons; it was called the "heaven shaking bow".
It was left behind by the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan and had once intimidated those who refused to submit under heaven.
Lady Yin drew the bow and nocked an arrow, pointing it at the firmament: "Four Dragon Kings! Your dragon offspring have fathers and mothers, do my children not have them too! Although I, Lady Yin, am unworthy, I am a disciple of Goddess Nüwa. Since you parents can personally descend to the field, why not try catching one of my arrows?"
"Lady Yin, please calm your anger!" The Dragon King of the East Sea Ao Guang's expression changed slightly.
How could he not know the name of the heaven shaking bow?
This was a Sacred Artifact of the Human Race that had once accompanied the Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan in pacifying the four directions.
The Dragon Clan had also heard rumors that Lady Yin was a disciple of Goddess Nüwa, but they hadn't taken it seriously before.
Now that Lady Yin had pulled the bowstring taut and pointed the arrow at the firmament, with the sound of dragons roaring and phoenixes crying faintly emanating from the bow body, it was clearly not a bluff!
The three Dragon Kings, Ao Qin, Ao Run, and Ao Shun, also had solemn expressions.
Although they were the rulers of the Four Seas, Goddess Nüwa was an ancient righteous deity who had mended the heavens and created humans, possessing immeasurable Karma.
If Lady Yin was truly a disciple of Goddess Nüwa, today's matter would be troublesome.
"Lady Yin,"
Ao Guang's tone softened a bit, "I do not wish to make things difficult for you. It is just that today's matter needs to have a conclusion."
"Conclusion?" Lady Yin sneered, "Fine! I will give the Dragon Clan a conclusion!"
Before her words faded, the bowstring was released!
"Whoosh!"
The arrow left the string, but it wasn't shot at any of the Four Dragon Kings; instead, it shot straight into the clouds!
The arrow turned into a golden light, piercing through the clouds and mist, traveling a thousand miles in an instant.
Wherever the arrow passed, the clouds parted, mist dissipated, and ten thousand rays of rosy light appeared, drawing a straight golden trajectory across the sky.
Another arrow was in hand, and Lady Yin nocked it again. This time, the arrowhead pointed directly at the Dragon King of the East Sea, Ao Guang!
"This arrow is named 'Parting Water and Settling the Sea'." Lady Yin's voice was cold, "Today, I will use this last arrow to ask the four Dragon Kings,"
Her gaze was like lightning as she swept across the Four Dragon Kings: "Is it war, or is it peace?"
The Four Dragon Kings changed color in unison!
The previous arrow, traveling a thousand miles in an instant, possessed immeasurable power—it was indeed worthy of being the heaven shaking bow!
And the arrow in Lady Yin's hand had golden light swirling around the tip, faintly carrying the power to slay dragons.
Ao Guang took a deep breath. Although he was the Dragon King of the East Sea with deep cultivation, he still dared not be the least bit careless. Lady Yin was not the most terrifying thing; what was terrifying was the person behind her.
"Lady Yin..." Ao Guang said hurriedly, "Why go this far? Today's matter was originally caused by children playing..."
"Children playing?" Lady Yin sneered, "If it was children playing, why did the Four Dragon Kings arrive together? Why did you want to capture my children? Why did you want to flood Chentang Pass?"
The heaven shaking bow in her hand trembled slightly, emitting a low dragon roar: "Today, either you release them, and my Li family will apologize, build a Dragon King temple, and we will be on good terms from now on. Or,"
The golden light on the arrowhead surged: "Take this arrow of mine! Life and death will be up to fate!"
The air seemed to freeze.
The Four Dragon Kings looked at each other, their eyes filled with struggle.
If they released them, the Dragon Clan would lose face today; if they didn't, would they really fight to the death with a disciple of Goddess Nüwa?
Ao Shun whispered: "Big brother, take a step back and the sea and sky will be vast. Today's matter was just a small scuffle between children. Us getting involved really does lose us our status."
Ao Guang closed his eyes for a moment and finally sighed.
He waved his hand, and a golden light shot out, instantly untying the bindings on Eleven Zha.
"Lady Yin," Ao Guang bowed, "Today's matter was the Dragon Clan's oversight. Your sons and daughters, I return them to you."
The shrimp soldiers and crab generals let go, and the eleven children fell from the sky.
Nezha steadied his footing and caught several injured brothers; Fifth Zha and Sixth Zha, though covered in injuries, also forced themselves to stand straight.
The youngest, Twelve Zha, was caught gently by Li Jing as he jumped up and held him in his arms.
The children regained their freedom but all remained silent.
They looked at their mother, who was drawing her bow on the city tower, their eyes filled with both pride and guilt.
If not for them causing trouble, why would Mother need to be like this?
Seeing the Dragon King release the children, Lady Yin slightly relaxed the string of the heaven shaking bow, put down the arrow, and handed it to the soldiers beside her.
She cupped her fists and said: "Brother Ao Guang is reasonable." Her voice softened a bit, "This matter was my children's fault first. As an apology, Chentang Pass will build a Dragon King temple and offer sacrifices throughout the four seasons."
Ao Guang nodded: "Lady Yin is straightforward. Since that is the case, today's matter ends here."
"Farewell!"
The Four Dragon Kings led their troops away. They had arrived with a threatening Aura, and when they left, it was silently.
