48: Kill City 10

The shop owner also noticed Shi Yan standing outside; he first sized up Shi Yan, then, as if realizing something, looked at Shi Yan with a face full of shock.

Shi Yan ignored the owner and instead furrowed his brows in thought.

“That level of destructive power…”

Even Shi Yan, at his current level, couldn't unleash an attack like that.

Logically, this dungeon shouldn’t have such powerful players or NPCs.

There was only one possibility: this large pit was likely created by some kind of single-use item.

After figuring it out, Shi Yan's brows relaxed; a single-use item with such destructive power would surely be very valuable and couldn't be used frequently.

Shi Yan turned and left, then casually found a car by the roadside and drove away.

About an hour later, Shi Yan drove to a street marked with caution tape; he got out of the car and looked towards the end of the street.

At the end of the street was an unblockable large pit, and standing there, one could still feel a wave of heat washing over them.

“Tsk tsk.”

Although one could feel that overwhelming power through photos, it was still not as shocking as seeing it firsthand.

After observing, Shi Yan turned, got back into the car, and drove off.

Some time later, Shi Yan was in a luxuriously decorated room.

He held a glass of wine, comfortably reclined on a large bed, leisurely watching television.

There was no other way; he couldn't find anyone, and with Shi Yan's frequent use of various abilities from his System Panel, he was indeed a bit fatigued at this moment.

The abilities in Shi Yan's System Panel didn't consume mana, but rather an indescribable something; after using them too many times, a sense of fatigue would emanate from his soul.

However, fortunately, after a short rest, that feeling of fatigue would immediately dissipate.

Shi Yan boredly kept pressing the remote control in his hand, switching through various movie channels.

His eyes, meanwhile, constantly flickered with the light of thought.

It had been so long, and he hadn't seen any official personnel come looking for him; that Huang Longsheng's son also seemed to be an official.

Shi Yan had not hidden his whereabouts at all throughout this time.

Time slowly passed, the view outside the window gradually turned pitch black, and then dazzling neon lights lit up one after another.

A translucent figure covered entirely in a black robe was silently standing at the door of Shi Yan's room; if one didn't look closely, they wouldn't notice him at all, and it was unknown how long he had been standing there.

Irregular protrusions covered his entire body, like an unevenly inflated inflatable doll.

His face was hidden beneath the black robe, completely obscured; his eyes glowed with two streaks of black light, staring intently at the door.

It was as if he could see Shi Yan lying in the living room, through the door and wall.

Shi Yan slowly sat up, looking towards the kitchen, as if he was about to get something from there.

And to enter the kitchen, he had to pass a corner in front of the door.

At this moment, the black light in the Black-Robed Man's eyes grew deeper, revealing a faint sense of anticipation.

He was the first player in this game to reach the vicinity of the Lava Pit; upon arrival, he immediately set up strict observation-type special skills around it, as his abilities were limited and he couldn't observe such a large area simultaneously.

He knew that players in this game would definitely come here to investigate, and as it turned out, he was not wrong.

As soon as he finished setting up, he saw Shi Yan driving over through his skill, so he immediately rushed over.

Although Shi Yan was only Lv10, he didn't rush to make a move; he deeply understood the principle that even a lion uses its full strength when hunting a rabbit.

So, he had been secretly tracking Shi Yan all the way here; if it weren't for the equipment on him at this moment, he might have been discovered by Shi Yan long ago.

Seeing Shi Yan had now reached the door, about to turn the corner and enter the side kitchen.

A black dagger appeared in the Black-Robed Man's hand; he immediately charged forward, smashing through the door, gripping the dagger with both hands, and thrusting it fiercely towards Shi Yan; at the same time, drops of green viscous liquid flowed from all the protrusions on his body, dripping onto the ground with sizzling corrosive sounds.

“Wha…”

Shi Yan's face held a hint of surprise at this moment, seemingly not expecting someone to have been ambushing him here all along.

“Die!”

The Black-Robed Man's eyes flickered with the excited light of a hunter about to capture his prey; Shi Yan would be the second kill he obtained in this dungeon; he dared not say he could get first place, but third should still be fine.

With a thought, a flash of light passed over his body, and his charging speed increased by several points.

“Splat!”

The sound of flesh being pierced rang out, and the surroundings became utterly silent.

The black dagger in the Black-Robed Man's hand was only a few centimeters from Shi Yan's heart, yet it couldn't advance any further; it wasn't that he didn't want to move forward, but that all strength had left his body.

An agonizing pain shot out from his left chest, and that immense pain was slowly spreading throughout his entire body.

The Black-Robed Man slowly lowered his head; a sharp, thick vine had, at some unknown point, pierced his left chest and extended out from it, his heart completely impaled.

At the same time, tiny, sharp tendrils extended from the thickest vine into his body, further destroying his other internal organs.

“Pfft!”

The Black-Robed Man spat out a mouthful of blood, his eyes gradually losing their light, his thoughts slowly becoming sluggish, and the last thought flashed through his mind.

Turns out… I was the prey all along.

The Black-Robed Man's limbs hung limply, the dagger in his hand falling to the ground, his entire body like a piece of meat hung by an iron hook.

Shi Yan watched this scene expressionlessly, not rushing to search the corpse.

Suddenly, sounds like a boiling kettle or a deflating balloon emanated from the Black-Robed Man's corpse; the black robe on the Black-Robed Man was blown open by bursts of green gas, revealing his body covered in pustules.

Those green gases were Spurting from the tops of those pustules.

As the gas was released, those pustules seemed to undergo some wondrous reaction, rapidly swelling and growing to the size of a human head; through the translucent surface of the pustules, one could vaguely see the green liquid inside.

Finally, with a “pop,” like a bursting bubble, all the pustules exploded simultaneously.

Green flames, accompanied by green liquid, instantly gushed out, and an invisible shockwave rapidly spread out from the Black-Robed Man's corpse as its center.

Everything the shockwave passed through was shaken, developing cracks, until it finally shattered all the windowpanes in the room, sending them flying outwards before slowly dissipating.

The entire building seemed to tremble from the shock; the windowpanes around Shi Yan's room suffered collateral damage, all shattered, and lights came on in households throughout the building.

The green flames, meanwhile, spread throughout the entire house along the previously emitted green gas, then, carried by the force of the shockwave, burst out of the windows, forming a horizontal pillar of green fire.
