28: Misunderstanding deepens

From Lin Xiu’s perspective, only half of Xiao Yu’s body was visible outside the tree trunk.

Her originally straight jade legs now hung limply beside the trunk, twitching occasionally.

“It seems I hit a bit too hard.” Lin Xiu immediately shook his head again, “It’s not my fault; this woman always bothers me. I hope this time she learns her lesson.”

Leaning against a tree, Lin Xiu looked up at the sky; the moon had already appeared.

“How long until she recovers? I want to eat.”

Lin Xiu rubbed his stomach and looked at the lake again. “Perhaps I should learn to cook. There are so many fish in the lake; I could fish while eating. Cooking should also be a skill that can increase attribute points.”

Looking left and right, just as Lin Xiu couldn't resist checking on Xiao Yu, she finally stirred.

With trembling legs, she stepped onto the ground and slowly retreated, pulling her body out from the tree trunk.

Leaning on the tree trunk, Xiao Yu bit her lip tightly. She first looked left and right, and after confirming no one else was around, she reached her hand behind her to touch her buttocks.

Even after some time, a burning pain still lingered on her bottom.

The night wind passed through the woods, swept over the lake, and blew onto Xiao Yu. The coolness between her legs constantly stimulated her nerves.

Xiao Yu took several deep breaths, holding back tears, and slowly walked towards the dormitory.

“She finally left.” Watching Xiao Yu’s retreating figure, Lin Xiu stepped out from behind the tree and followed her from a distance.

A moment later, upon reaching a crowded area, Lin Xiu quickly turned onto another path, heading towards his own dormitory.

Completely focused on eating, Lin Xiu didn’t notice a pair of eyes watching him.

Not far away, a young girl stood blankly, clutching a porcelain bowl.

After leaving the dining hall, Xiao Mei wanted to share the delicious White Carp with Lin Xiu. She went to his dormitory first but didn’t find him.

So, Xiao Mei planned to head to the lakeside. In her impression, Lin Xiu usually appeared in three places: the plaza, the dormitory, and the lakeside.

As Xiao Mei walked to the plaza and was about to go to the lakeside, she suddenly saw her cousin coming from that direction.

Xiao Yu was dressed in everyday clothes, her hair was a bit disheveled, her face was flushed, and she seemed somewhat unfocused, as if she had just experienced a setback.

Just as Xiao Mei was wondering what had happened to her cousin, she suddenly saw Lin Xiu appear behind her cousin.

The two seemed to be returning from the same place. Lin Xiu’s gaze, as he occasionally glanced at her cousin, showed a mix of nervousness, worry, and concern?

“Could it be that they…” With the image of her cousin’s disheveled hair and flushed face in her mind, Xiao Mei’s pretty face suddenly turned pale.

Crack!

The bowl in her hand slipped and fell to the ground, scattering fragments. Milky-white fish soup flowed everywhere, and a few pieces of fish meat were exposed… “Brother Xiu, I heard you’ve been fishing by the lake?”

Just back in the dormitory, Lin Xiu took the meal Lin Dun handed him, ready to eat, when Xiao Ning suddenly came over.

Lin Xiu glanced at him and nodded, “What’s up? Something wrong?”

“Take me with you tomorrow, alright?” Xiao Ning smiled, with a hint of flattery.

“You also accepted a Mission?” Lin Xiu asked.

“What Mission?” Xiao Ning was puzzled. He never cared about the Mission Hall. He wanted to fish purely because he saw Xun'er interested in the fish meat Hu Jia brought.

So, Xiao Ning decided to go fishing himself.

As the saying goes, ‘the one nearest the water gets the moon first,’ and ‘constant dropping wears away a stone.’

He felt that while Xun'er was indeed particularly fond of his cousin Xiao Yan, he wasn’t entirely without a chance.

Currently, his cousin Xiao Yan wasn’t by Xun'er’s side. As long as he catered to her preferences, he might be able to move Xun'er with his sincerity.

“Brother Xiu, is there any white fish in the lake? The kind that’s white from head to tail, glowing white, as white as jade.” Seeing Lin Xiu lower his head to eat, Xiao Ning continued to ask.

Lin Xiu paused his eating, looked up at him, and said, “Yes, that fish is called White Carp. Why are you suddenly asking about this?”

“So it’s White Carp, I remember that.” Xiao Ning nodded vigorously, “I just think this fish is delicious and I want to catch some.”

“Delicious? You’ve eaten it?” Lin Xiu was greatly surprised.

The White Carp that came out of the lake today had all passed through his hands; one went to Elder Huo and one to Vice Dean Hu Qian.

“Yes, Hu Jia brought it. The fish meat was very tender and springy, and the fish soup was exceptionally fresh and fragrant. One sip was mellow and rich, with an endless aftertaste.”

Because he only drank the soup, Xiao Ning didn’t dare to casually comment on the fish meat, fearing Lin Xiu would notice something unusual. He tried his best to describe his opinion of the fish soup.

He thought that since Lin Xiu had been fishing by the lake, he might have tasted what White Carp meat was like.

In reality, Xiao Ning had no idea that Lin Xiu hadn’t even touched a White Carp before today, let alone eaten one.

“Hu Jia, that lesbian? Fish brought by her? Then it must be Vice Dean Hu Qian’s.”

Understanding the situation, Lin Xiu didn’t press further. It was the grandfather and granddaughter’s business, and it had nothing to do with him.

After eating, and a short rest, Lin Xiu continued his Fighting Skill training for the evening.

He called Xiao Ning and Lin Dun, and they went to the plaza together.

Xiao Ning sparred for a while, then claimed he had a stomach ache and left. Lin Xiu didn’t mind; Xiao Ning had been making various excuses these past two days.

If it had been before, Lin Xiu definitely wouldn’t have let him off, but now with Lin Dun as an experience booster, Lin Xiu didn’t care about Xiao Ning’s attitude anymore.

Because after several days of sparring, Lin Dun consistently provided more experience than Xiao Ning.

Lin Xiu guessed that it was probably because Lin Dun also improved after sparring with him, making him a greater threat than Xiao Ning, which meant Lin Xiu gained more experience from fighting Lin Dun.

Late night.

“Thank you for your hard work.” Lin Xiu extended his hand towards Lin Dun, who was lying on the ground. Lin Dun grabbed it and used the leverage to stand up.

Brushing the dust off himself, Lin Dun shook his head and laughed, “Brother Xiu, it’s not hard. Sparring with you, I feel my combat experience has increased a lot.”

“It’s good to see progress. Now, rest for two days, then we’ll continue.” Lin Xiu noticed large bruises on Lin Dun’s arms, clearly from sparring with him.

Lin Dun always wore long sleeves, and Lin Xiu hadn’t noticed before, mainly because the kid never cried out in pain. He thought Lin Dun’s Cultivation Technique helped him recover from injuries.

Now it seemed, the kid was purely just enduring it.

“Brother Xiu, are you worried about my injuries? It’s fine, I’m used to it. Let’s continue tomorrow.”

Lin Dun reacted quickly. He responded with a smile, without any pretense, completely from the heart.

Although everyone in the dormitory, including Xiao Ning, thought he was stupid for being Lin Xiu’s human punching bag, Lin Dun was very clear-headed.

Despite getting beaten, he wasn’t making no progress; on the contrary, Brother Xiu would always point out some areas to him, and his combat experience was constantly improving.

Additionally, by continuously sparring with Lin Xiu, Lin Dun was just beginning to discover Brother Xiu’s terrifying rate of improvement.

Whether it was the proficiency of his Fighting Skills, his usage techniques, or even his Qi strength, there were new changes almost every day.

Lin Dun, who had no reliance or background, had already silently regarded Lin Xiu as a strong support, wanting to cling to him tightly.

“Go back and rest first. We’ll talk about other things tomorrow.”

Lin Xiu originally wanted to pat Lin Dun’s shoulder, but considering he might be injured, his raised hand circled once and he touched his own hair instead.
