Chapter 193: Do you want my help?

While Alex was still puzzling over why he didn’t receive any exp points from killing this creature, the creature’s corpse hanging in his hand suddenly scattered into particles of purple light. The purple particles drifted in the air and moved away from Alex before condensing into the creature Alex had just killed.Alex was stunned, the demon had come back to life! For a moment, he was dumbfounded as he didn’t know what to do next. This was his first time encountering such a situation. How should he get rid of these creatures if they would just come back to life after dying?

While Alex was being dumbfounded, the demon that had just come back to life roared at him. Its hands burst out with flames that condensed into two large flame swords.

The flame swords blazed with raging red flames that threatened to burn the skies.

After forming the swords, the demon slashed at Alex in a crossed strike pattern and sent two large flame slashes at him.

Alex’s eyes narrowed behind his mask as he disappeared and appeared beside the creature. He had sensed the strength of this creature’s attack, they were as strong as a concentrated Archmage spell!

As for the flame slashes, they continued to fly until they disappeared into the distance.

Meanwhile, after Alex appeared beside the demon, his eyes glowed with the light of the space element and a silver white star constellation appeared above them the next moment.

"Space cut!" Alex called out, his left hand landing on the shoulder of the demon at the same time.

The demon was unable to react before the space of five meters around it disappeared, including the demon itself.

This was why Alex rarely used this spell, it was the same as erasing an area from existence and everything within that range.

"That should do it," Alex said to himself, since there wasn’t a corpse left, the demon shouldn’t be able to come back to life.

But he was proven wrong the next moment as purple particles materialised into existence the next second and formed into the demon again, the two flame swords were still in its hands.

Alex immediately got a new understanding of how dangerous the crack was, Julius and the others on the ground would not be able to handle this.

The demon attacked Alex again, sending several fire flashes at Alex while flying toward him.

This time, Alex didn’t dodge or kill it directly.

His eyes lit up with a silver white glow and he cast telekinesis, it was the telekinesis of the Master mage rank!

His eyes gleamed as he glared at the demon. Immediately, both the demon as well as the several fire flashes it had sent out froze in place before they could reach Alex.

So all of these were just the thoughts of a single creature? And their ability to mirror the strength of other creatures made them scary as well, with people like Julius and Ellie in the battle, didn’t that mean that there would be more spawns at the Archmage rank?

As for why this particular spawn wasn’t able to mirror Alex’s strength, Alex already knew that it was because of his Aura meter skill, which was still active and set at the Adept rank.

Since his rank wasn’t high enough, this spawn must have mirrored one of the Archmages instead.

That was a good thing, having a Saint rank spawn on the battlefield right now is the last thing that Alex walked.

Alex stopped using the ability of the all-knowing mask and returned his attention to the fight going on below. Mages using magic items and powerful spells were facing off against the thousands of spawns, and the mages were losing badly.

The spawns would just come back to life whenever one died and resumed attacking, they either condensed weapons with the elements or launched spells like mages.

The number of mages was reducing swiftly as stronger spawns were roaming around. Julius and the other Archmages were each battling several spawns that were at the Archmage rank by themselves.

The only advantage that they had over the spawns was their magic items but even then, they were barely able to fight back.

As for the others, they weren’t faring too well; hundreds of mages were already dead and their bodies littered the place.

Alex shot toward the group like a rocket.

Boom!

He landed on the ground with a powerful impact that immediately destroyed the ground and formed a large spiderweb crack on the ground.

Alex had landed in the middle of a group of spawns, all of whom gave off auras that were similar to those of an Expert rank mage. Not far from the group of spawns was a mage who seemed to have been driven into a corner.

Both the mage and the spawns immediately turned to look at Alex after he arrived, his landing was too loud for them not to notice.

Alex had stopped using telekinesis and was holding the spawn that had tried to attack him earlier by the neck. The spawn struggled in Alex’s grasp but wasn’t able to break free.

Alex looked past the group of spawns and his eyes landed on the mage who had been driven into the corner of two collapsed buildings with no other escape route.

His eyes flashed behind his mask when he saw who the mage was.

It was teacher Arnold!

The man’s face was covered in blood, one of his arms was a bloody mess with everything below the elbow missing and his bone showing, his clothes were drenched in his own blood and he was in a horrible state as well.

Seems like teacher Arnold had learnt about the special characteristics of these spawns the hard way.

Seeing Mr Chen, Arnold’s eyes flashed with hope as a desperate expression formed on his bloodied face.

"Mr Chen, save me!" He cried out, not caring about his image.

If he didn’t ask Mr Chen for help now, these undying demons would kill him!

But Arnold soon felt that something was wrong because Mr Chen wasn’t doing anything. Some of the spawns went to attack him but he casually slapped them to death.

They would then turn into purple particles, come back to life, and then attack him again.

The process just repeated while Arnold continued to struggle at the death doors with the rest of the spawns that were still attacking him.

His eyes widened, could it be that Mr Chen didn’t want to help him?

"Mr Chen, please save me; I’ll die at this rate." Arnold cried out again, he was very desperate now.

Right after he cried for help, Mr Chen disappeared and then reappeared right in front of him, startling him.

But a wave of relief washed over him the next moment, and he thought that Mr Chen was finally going to bring him away from this hell.

But Mr Chen’s next words were like a bucket of cold water splashed on his face.

"Are you sure you want my help?"

Arnold’s eyes trembled and he staggered backwards.

"That voice, it...it can’t be!" He mumbled with a horrified expression, hoping that it wasn’t true.

However, Mr Chen suddenly raised one of his hands and took off his mask. Then Arnold saw it, the face behind the mask.

It was Alex!

"No, no, no, this can’t be possible, why is it you? How can you be Mr Chen?!" Arnold yelled, his expression showed that he was about to lose his mind from the shock.

Alex smiled widely and said.

"I knew you won’t need my help, you’re a competent teacher after all and I believe you can handle this situation; I’ll leave you alone now."

After saying that, he disappeared and appeared on top of a building not far away from where Arnold was. Alex watched as the spawns swarmed toward the severely injured Arnold, a small smile on his face.

He watched as the spawns pierced Arnold’s body with their element condensed weapons and tore the man to several pieces. He listened as Arnold’s painful cries faded before ceasing completely. He watched his teacher die, and he didn’t feel any remorse or guilt for not saving the man.

The look of hopelessness and unwillingness on Arnold’s face after Alex revealed his identity made him feel better instead.

Alex was about to leave after Arnold was killed by the spawns when his body suddenly froze in place.

"So I wasn’t mistaken, I really sensed a second one...
