Chapter 328 At Last

Her shriek tore through the battle, sending chills down every living creature’s spine.Sensing the danger, Alaric’s body rippled, bones cracked as thick black fur spread across his skin. In the blink of an eye, Midnight stood where Alaric once was. His golden eyes glowed under the dim light, his low growl vibrating through the air.

Seraphina’s eyes widened when she saw the woman standing on the battlefield. "Who the hell is that?" she whispered under her breath, her voice trembling.

She groaned as her magic grew wilder, her knees buckling almost touching the ground.

"Let me help you!" Gwen yelled beside her, her palms glowing green light as she poured her strength into the barrier. "Seraphina, focus! We can’t let them through! The Queen needs more time... if we fail, this might be the end of us."

Gwen exchanged a dreaded glance with Seraphina.

Seraphina nodded weakly, her hands shaking mid-air, she had been holding the barrier for hours now, and her magic had been drained. She wondered if she would be able to hold it for long. Her breathing turned shallow as sweat dripped down her temple.

But seeing Alaric fighting with them, she felt a little bit of hope, hope that they wouldn’t perish and if they should, she would perish with her kind... she turned, staring at Midnight fighting off a group of corrupted witches... if that should happen, she would send him back to his pack, she believed he was only helping and didn’t need to die with them.

The Greater Evil smiled, that’s the name they called themselves, their white and serpent-like eyes glinting with dark amusement. They slammed their staff to the ground. "Let’s see how long you’ll all last."

The earth cracked open and a blinding wave of energy burst from the impact, slicing through the air. The sound was deafening, shattering the barrier into a thousand fragments like broken glass. The blast threw everyone backward, both werewolves and witches alike.

Seraphina crashed onto the hard ground, coughing violently. Her ears rang with a high-pitched sound. All she could hear was chaos...screams, growls, and maniac laughter echoing through the battlefield.

The corrupted witches rushed into the castle, their soulless black slitted eyes glowing with hunger for blood. "Kill them all!" one shrieked.

Seraphina’s heart raced, she glanced around, and all she saw was her fallen sisters. Her chest ached, her hands trembled, but she forced herself up. "Stand up!" she screamed, her voice raw with desperation and conviction. "Fight! Don’t give up!"

Her voice cut through the chaos, igniting something in those who were still alive. The witches gathered their strength again, and the wolves howled in unison. The battlefield roared to life once more.

Midnight charged forward, tearing through the corrupted witches that lunged at him. Blood splattered against his black fur as he bit and ripped through their bodies. He fought his way closer to Seraphina, his golden eyes burning with fury.

The battle was tougher than he had imagined, he wished Damon were here, the werewolves were not resistant to the witches’ spells, only the Lycans were. And right now, he believed the witches’ coven won’t hold on for long.

His heart hammered in his ear as he got closer to Seraphina, he could not think of anything other than her. He felt the strong urge to be by her side and protect her. But the corrupted witches just kept on appearing in front of him.

Seraphina’s magic surged again, flames of red light swirling around her hands. She threw her spells, each one striking with precision, burning through the corrupted witches that surrounded them.

Suddenly, an icy shiver crawled up her spine. The air grew heavy and the hair at the back of her neck stood on end. She turned around slowly, as if afraid to discover what was behind her, her blood ran cold the moment her eyes landed on the creature before her.

The Greater Evil was standing before her. Their lips curved into a chilling smile. "You’ve fought enough."

Before Seraphina could react, her body lifted off the ground. Her throat constricted as invisible hands wrapped around her neck. She gasped, her fingers clawing at her throat, her feet dangling helplessly in the air.

"Let her go!" Midnight roared, his voice thunderous. He lunged forward, tearing apart everything in his path. The corrupted witches tried to block him, but he tore through them like paper, leaving a trail of bodies behind.

Seraphina’s face turned pale, her hands trembling as she tried to break free from the invisible hold. Her breath came out in short, painful gasps.

The Greater Evil laughed softly, raising her hand higher. "Witches are weak... You should have stayed hidden just like your Queen."

Seraphina’s vision blurred, darkness creeping in from the edges. Her lips moved weakly. "Alaric..."

Then, a blinding light burst from above the castle, bright enough to burn through the clouds. Everyone froze, the corrupted witches, the wolves, even the Greater Evil tilted her head up.

The air crackled as a thunderous boom echoed through the realm, shaking the ground.

From the heart of the light, a figure descended slowly, her whitish grey hair flowing like the wind itself. The force of her presence silenced the battlefield.

The witches fell to their knees, their hearts trembling with reverence and fear. Even the corrupted witches took a step back, hissing under their breath.

Seraphina’s body dangled in the air, her eyes widened as she looked up.

"You are here at last." The Greater Evil said, their voice laced with venom, their hands gripped the staff tightly as a malicious intent flickered through their eyes.

"I know you are looking for me, this battle is between us, there is no need to harm my people." The Queen’s words were soft spoken, yet they carried a strong aura that could not be ignored. Her eyes fixated on Seraphina’s dangling body.

Seraphina’s heart stopped beating for a moment as she laid eyes on the Queen. Tears trickled down her cheeks, the Queen’s black hair had turned whitish grey, and she understood what it meant. The Queen had used the forbidden spell.
