Chapter 37: Chapter 37 Nothing But a BreederWhen she got closer to me, she retracted her aura. "So you are his purchased breeder?" she drawled, her voice dripping with venom.

I sit up straight after being freed from her commanding presence.

I didn’t say anything in response to her; rather, her eyes locked with mine in a fierce battle. Her jaws clenched because I was ignoring her.

She leaned closer, her tone colder than before. "I hope you will stay away from Damon," she warned, her hazel eyes flickering to gold before returning back to their normal shade.

’Who are you to tell me what to do?’

"I’m afraid I can’t comply with your request. As you said earlier, I’m a purchased breeder, so I’ll do my best to satisfy in whichever way possible." My lips tugged up into a small smile.

A growl rumbled from her chest, her eyes glaring daggers at me. It seemed like my words had struck one of her wrong nerves. Well, it was what I intended to do.

"You wouldn’t dare," she growled lowly.

"I’m nothing but a breeder, so I’ll have to comply with every single request of my master... and that includes in bed." I drawled the last part of the sentence.



My eyes widened slightly in surprise when I heard her chuckle. "I know he bought you for his own amusement. I know he hasn’t laid a hand on you. Want to know why?" She inched closer to me. "Because he can’t touch women." A victorious smirk graced her lips.

I narrowed my eyes at her. "Doesn’t that make the two of us? If he can’t touch me, I bet he can’t also touch you. There is nothing to be proud of, because your chances aren’t better than mine."

I didn’t want to talk too much to her, but that arrogant smirk on her lips made me want to wipe it off badly.

And to my satisfaction, the smirk on her face turned into a scowl. "You really have some guts," she muttered under her breath, not glad that I was talking back to her.

"Ember," Damon’s voice echoed from behind, his eyes narrowing at us.

"Alpha Allison," he said as he walked closer to us. "I see you have met my pet." He glanced at me.

"Oh yes, she is a brave one, I must say, but I’m afraid she’s going to break sooner or later from your brutality."

’What is she implying?’

"I’ll teach her how to handle me. You don’t have to worry about that."

"Oh really? I see you have taken a great liking to her. However, she is nothing but a breeder, and I believe you are in need of a mate." She paused to gauge his reaction. When she saw no difference in his expression, she continued. "I am the perfect one to rule by your side, Damon..."

"It’s Alpha Damon," he cut her off.

Her cheeks burned from embarrassment at his sudden interruption. I wanted to chuckle at her plight; however, I kept my mouth shut. She looked pitiful in front of Damon.

"Alpha Damon, what do you say?" She bit her lower lip as she awaited his response.

"Alpha Allison, I’m not in need of a mate currently, but I’ll send a message whenever I’m ready to get a Luna to rule by my side."

His reply brought a smile to her lips, her eyes sparkling as if she had found a treasure.

My heart sank in my chest hearing his words. ’Does it really mean he is considering her as his future mate? What about me? Where do I stand in his heart?’ I couldn’t help but wonder.

"I’ll be waiting for that message." Her eyes flicked to me before returning back to Damon.

Damon gave her a curt nod. With that, she turned around to go sit with the elders around the bonfire.

My body shivered from the cold wind. The coat clung to me, soaked wet and useless against the chill.

Damon walked away from me. I scoffed at his retreating figure. ’That dumbass, why did he buy me if he knew he was going to get a mate? Crazy bastard!’ I sniffled as my body trembled violently now.

As I buried my head between my legs, I felt someone removing the wet coat. Before I could protest, a dry warm coat was draped around my neck. When I looked up, I saw Damon smoothing out the crease on the coat.

"You should change your clothes, or you will catch a cold," he said, patting my head.



’What is the meaning of this? One second he was so mad about me touching him and looked like he was going to rip me apart, and now he’s getting all touchy-touchy as if he were a loyal and attentive boyfriend.’ I stared at him with mixed feelings.

’Why does he keep flashing me green lights only to turn red when I get closer to him? It’s not like I want him—no, I don’t—but I just want him to stop giving mixed signals.’

I pulled away from his touch. An unreadable expression flashed across his face.


"I’ll do that now," I said, standing up from the stool I was sitting on.

As I walked further into the camp area, I saw him trailing behind me.

"I can’t believe you almost said yes to a kid. Are you that desperate to get a mate?" he said with his hands in his pocket.

"What if I am? What’s your business with that? And by the way, Malfoy seemed like he would make a good mate. You should be more focused on yours, as it would affect the affairs of the pack." I answered with clenched teeth.

A growl vibrated from his chest. "I can see you are growing some wings now. It’s really been a while since you’ve been punished." His eyes danced with something dark.

My heart skipped a beat, the hairs on my body standing on end. His steps hastened towards me before he grabbed my arms, pulling me closer to him.

My body crashed into his chest. My eyes widened in shock. I placed my arms between us as I struggled to get away from his hold, but it was like I was trying to move a concrete wall.
