Chapter 391 Under Attack

My heart pounded violently as I rushed back out into the corridor, my footsteps echoing too loudly against the stone walls, as if the castle itself was listening to my panic and amplifying it. Every breath felt sharp and shallow, my chest tightening more with each step I took."Ember," I called, my voice breaking as it echoed through the halls, bouncing off cold stone and closed doors. I said her name again and again, louder each time, as if saying it enough would make her appear in front of me, safe and unharmed, like she always did.

Suddenly, a deafening crack split the air, so loud it felt like the sky itself had been torn open. The barrier protecting the pack exploded outward in a violent burst of energy, shattering into countless flecks of golden light that sparkled briefly before dissolving into nothing. The ground beneath my feet trembled, the shockwave rippling through the entire territory.

Something inside me snapped.

My vision burned as darkness swallowed my eyes, turning them pitch black. My fangs protruded out with a sharp ache, my claws extending as a deep and feral growl tore out of my chest, vibrating through the land and carrying my fury far beyond the walls of the castle.

From a distance, the war bell rang. Its sound was heavy and cruel, rolling across the territory like a death sentence, sinking into bone and soul alike. It was a sound no wolf ever forgot, the sound that meant blood would be spilled and lives would be lost.

The pack warriors shifted into their wolf forms. The air filled with snarls and growls as instincts took over, every wolf ready to defend what was theirs.

The witches took to the sky, their robes snapping violently in the wind as magic gathered in their palms, crackling and humming with power. Others remained behind the warriors, standing shoulder to shoulder as they chanted in unison, casting a protective spell over the heart of the territory.

From afar, the enemy revealed themselves, and my blood boiled vigorously... it must be them who had taken my mate.

The corrupted witches hovered in the air, the dark magic in their hands almost painted the sky black. Meanwhile, on land, thousands of Bloodmoon pack warriors and rogues advanced, moving in with terrifying synchronization, their snarls carrying across the battlefield with a promise of slaughter.

I let out a bloodchilling growl that ripped through my throat, raw and unrestrained.

With Ember missing, something deep inside me fractured completely. The pain in my chest intensified, spreading like fire as memories surged through my head, especially the moment I had watched her fall from the cliff, believing I had lost her forever.

The helplessness of that moment crashed into me again, mixing with the rage tearing through my veins now, feeding the beast clawing its way toward the surface.

Another guttural growl tore free from my throat, louder and more vicious than the last.

Alaric and Theo shifted beside me, their massive wolf forms standing tall and defensive, fangs bared, muscles coiled tight with barely restrained violence.

I turned toward Seraphina, who stood at the front of the witches, her posture steady and commanding despite the chaos unfolding around us. "Hold the barrier," I ordered firmly, my voice carrying authority and urgency. "Do not let them through."

She met my gaze without flinching and nodded, already lifting her hands as red energy surged around her.

I turned back to the warriors, my voice flooding through the mindlink, sharp and unyielding, carrying my fury and command to every corner of the pack. "Defend the pack, and protect the territory."

I charged forward, busting through the remaining protective magic with my elite warriors at my back, colliding with the enemy in a violent collision. Growls, snarls, and screams filled the air as claws tore into flesh and teeth sank deep into bone. Blood splattered across the ground almost instantly, the metallic scent thick in the air.

Above us, the corrupted witches unleashed their magic. Dark orbs rained down like meteors, slamming into the barrier behind us with explosive force. The witches defending the pack strained under the assault, their chants growing louder and more desperate as they fought to hold the shield intact, veins standing out on their necks as sweat clung to their skin, the weak ones were already spitting out blood.

The enemy numbers were overwhelming, easily more than twice our size, pressing in from all sides like a living tide.

With most of my allies injured, even though we had taken immediate action, we still couldn’t save them all. Now, my people and I had to depend on ourselves.

With a roar that split the sky, I leapt into the air, my body twisting as I shifted mid-motion into my massive white wolf form. The transformation tore through me like lightning, power flooding my limbs as I came crashing down. The earth cracked beneath my weight, sending debris flying as four enemy werewolves were crushed instantly under me, their bodies breaking with sickening sounds.

Before they could even scream, Beowulf’s fangs and claws buried into their neck, ripping their throats out. Blood spattered on our fur, staining the white crimson.

Beowulf moved with savage precision, every strike deadly and deliberate. His claws ripped through their bodies as if they were nothing more than paper, his jaws snapping shut with lethal force. Heads flew mid-air, before rolling on the ground, spines snapped, and blood sprayed across my fur as bodies dropped one after another, lifeless and ripped apart.

Midnight tore through the enemy ranks to my left, his movements swift and merciless, his fangs flashing as he brought down rogue after rogue. Fenrir followed close behind me, his golden brown form blurring with speed as he struck with terrifying efficiency, his howls echoing through the battlefield.

Through the mindlink, I reached out to them, my thoughts jagged and unraveling, my sanity hanging by a thread. "Ember is missing."

The words carried the full weight of my breaking mind, it felt like I was losing control to the uncontrollable beast inside me, who wanted to go on a frenzy and kill all enemies.

But if I lost control, there is no telling who are foes or friends.
