130: Chapter 129 Entering the World

Mihe pulled over a wooden chair and sat at the edge of the courtyard, looking down at the foot of the mountain.

Watching Zhang Mu's tiny figure cross through the light gate, he asked Domit, who was standing behind him, "Actually, I don't want him to go to his death.

Entering and leaving the Silent Forest for two consecutive months without being swallowed by magic beasts has already exhausted his good luck."

"Then..."

"Because I understand," Mihe smiled, "I cannot, and should not, stop him.

Just as Zhang Mu did not try to persuade me to give up on the Resistance Army or abandon my inevitably failing ideals."

Shifting his gaze toward the farmers busy in the fields early in the morning, he seemed to talk to himself, "Sindy was the first to join us.

Following the Resistance Army in our retreat from the city and hiding within the Magic Array of the Silent Forest, he never uttered a single word of discouragement.

Before Zhang Mu brewed the Song of the Forest, the room where we stored wheat was nearly empty.

I asked him, do you regret it?

He didn't answer the question, but said with a simple smile that we would wait for the grain in the fields to grow, and by strengthening our resolve, we would pull through."

"Domit." Mihe stood up and turned to look at him. "Zhang Mu's refusal to participate in the Resistance Army is correct.

Or rather, I would find it strange if he were willing to join.

Just what kind of brain-damaged fool would get mixed up with us?"

Hearing Mihe's tone, which sounded as if he were settling his final affairs, Domit felt a sense of unease in his heart: "Mr. Mi He, you..."

"Toward everyone, whether it is a Magister like me or a farmer who only knows how to till the fields, he maintains the same heartfelt attitude.

I cannot imagine what kind of environment he grew up in to develop such a personality.

But I see hope in him.

Therefore, I will never allow him to die in the Silent Forest."

Interrupting Domit, who wanted to say something, he instructed: "Listen, if I don't return to the Magic Array, you can ask him for advice on the future path of the Resistance Army,

But do not use my death to coerce Zhang Mu into joining the Resistance Army."

After a long silence, Domit looked at the ground and responded softly: "I understand."

When he looked up again, the person before him was already gone.

...

"How lively."

Zhang Mu squatted on a treetop, looking down at the Adventurer Groups gathered around the pillar of light.

The dense trees surrounding the light pillar had been cleared away by them to create an open space for pitching tents.

Judging by the high-quality equipment worn by the Adventurers taking turns on Guard duty near the tents, it was indeed as Mihe said—one shouldn't even think about going deep into the Silent Forest without some real skill.

Not only that, but looking at the composition of the Adventurer Groups, almost all of them had Priest Professionals.

Looking around for a while, he noticed a particularly large cluster of tents, consisting of over twenty tents of various sizes.

Bringing so many people, it should be the City Lord of Gur City.

Normal Adventurer Groups have seven members or fewer, at most no more than ten.

Zhang Mu wasn't sure about the situation in other regions of the Saul Continent, but that was how it was in the Kingdom of Lake.

"I wonder if that trash son of his came."

After pondering for a while, Zhang Mu decided to infiltrate the City Lord's tent cluster to scout things out.

It wasn't to look for trouble with the son; after all, he was just an ordinary person. Even if the City Lord doted on him, the possibility of bringing him into the dangerous Silent Forest was very small.

His main purpose was to test the effectiveness of the Shadow Technique.

The City Lord's group was very close to the light pillar, while the camps of the converging Adventurer Groups were far from him, and by extension, far from the light pillar.

This indicated that the City Lord's strength should be the strongest present.

If even he couldn't detect his Shadow Technique, then no one else would have a chance.

Then competing for the world's control core would be much simpler.

Descending from the tree, he activated the Shadow Technique and carefully crept into the tent cluster. There was no movement indicating he had been noticed; the City Lord and his subordinates were all staying inside their tents.

Zhang Mu felt a bit puzzled.

The Storm Bear cub was Rank 5, equivalent to a High-level Magician. The City Lord's specific level was unknown, but he was at least a Magister—Mihe had personally admitted the City Lord was stronger than him.

The Storm Bear could vaguely sense him at about two hundred meters and pinpoint him at fifty meters.

How could the City Lord, who was far stronger than the Storm Bear, instead...

Could he be playing me for a fool?

Zhang Mu emboldened himself and approached the largest tent, which was guarded in the center. Faint conversation could be heard from inside.

"During the journey, I carefully searched the village where the Guards disappeared. I have basically confirmed it was the work of the Resistance Army."

"To dare attack the Guards of Gur City, there is no one else but them."

"The City Lord is wise."

"Has the tail been dealt with?" the City Lord's voice asked.

"The surviving villagers were likely all taken back to their hiding place by the Resistance Army. I have already burned the village to ashes."

"Good.

When Evan goes out of the city to play in the future, follow him. Don't let him get near the north where the Resistance Army is hiding; take him to the villages in the west. It will be more convenient to erase the traces afterward.

That poor child of mine has no hope of becoming a magician, so let him have a few decades of carefree days."

"As you command, City Lord."

It seems he really hasn't noticed me.

Zhang Mu lowered his heels and strode through the tent fabric.

Inside the spacious tent was a large carved bed with bedding embroidered with golden silk birds. In the center was a low table, with two people sitting cross-legged on opposite sides.

Wearing a mage robe and holding a magic staff that emitted light from its entire body, this person should be the City Lord.

Glancing at the knight in bright silver light armor opposite him, Zhang Mu felt a bit of regret in his heart.

If only his son had come too; seeing his kid die in front of him would surely make him very happy.

"City Lord!" someone suddenly reported loudly from outside, "The Sealing Magic Array has closed!"

The City Lord stood up immediately and, along with the knight who also hurriedly rose, walked out of the tent one after the other.

Following them out, Zhang Mu looked toward the center of the clearing.

The pillar of light had already vanished without a trace, revealing a floating light gate about one meter off the ground.

"Everyone, move out!"

With a team of more than ten knights and magicians following behind him, the City Lord led the way and entered the light gate in single file.

Once they entered, the other Adventurer Groups didn't dawdle either and followed closely behind.

Seeing this, Zhang Mu also jumped into the gate.

His vision went black for a moment. When it returned, he found himself standing on a massive platform paved with bluestone slabs.

Surrounding him was a void flickering with starlight, and the Adventurer Groups keeping a safe distance from each other.

Before everyone, a wide stone path seemed to hang in mid-air, extending forward into the darkness.

"You go first," the City Lord ordered the surrounding Adventurer Groups after staring at the stone path leading to nowhere for a while.

"City Lord of Gur City," one of the Adventurer Group leaders reminded him with a smile, "we are not your Guards."

The City Lord narrowed his eyes dangerously but ultimately did nothing.

He was used to lording it over others in Gur City and giving orders; he couldn't adapt to a tone of negotiation for a moment.

While these Adventurer Groups were indeed not as strong as him, which was why they tolerated him entering the gate first, expecting them to lead the charge—especially with a commanding attitude—was clearly impossible.

If he made a move, what if they all swarmed him?

Even if the nearby Adventurer Groups didn't intervene, if his own consumption became too great now, the treasure would have nothing to do with him anymore.

But for the City Lord to walk in front himself, he was also unwilling to do such a stupid thing where others would likely reap the benefits.

Naturally, they reached a stalemate on the platform, and no one moved first.
