11: Chapter 11 Insects
"Brother Su, why are you staring at me?"
"Young man, I see a dark aura on your forehead."
Su Lin said with a straight face.
"Stop messing around, help me look at the top of my head."
"It's been itching non-stop since just now, am I having an allergic reaction?"
As Li Tao spoke, he leaned his head toward Su Lin.
"Hmm?"
Su Lin said, surprised.
"What's wrong, Brother Su?"
Su Lin frowned slightly.
He saw seven or eight black bugs on top of Li Tao's head, gnawing on his scalp.
If they weren't killed in time, Li Tao would soon have patches of hair loss.
Moreover, these bugs were each emitting a black aura; it was a bit ominous.
"Strange."
"Li Tao has a scalp like steel, yet these bugs are actually able to gnaw through it."
Su Lin tapped them with his hand, but the bugs were like maggots on a bone, firmly stuck to the top of his head.
Su Lin looked at his palm; a searing, painful sensation came from it.
"Are they poisonous too?"
Su Lin frowned deeply and, without a word, activated his Lightning Refining Technique.
Zzzzt, zzzzt.
Tiny arcs of cyan electricity spread from between his fingers.
"It really has electricity."
There was a hint of excitement in Su Lin's eyes.
With a thought, he saw these cyan electric arcs directly and rapidly wrap around each of the black bugs.
Pop, pop, pop.
The black bugs burst one by one and dissipated like black mist, leaving not even ash behind.
"Is it done?"
"Eh? It doesn't itch anymore, but there's a tingling sensation on my head."
Li Tao touched his scalp.
"Brother Su, you can even cure allergies now?"
"Small matter."
Su Lin chuckled.
Su Lin looked at his palm; the searing pain had vanished. It must have been cleared away by the electric current.
But where did these bugs come from?
The black smoke exuding from the bugs looked malicious.
Although he knew the black market had many strange things, was it really dangerous to just go window shopping?
"Brother Su, where are we going next?"
"No, let's leave quickly. There's nothing worth browsing."
"But before leaving, I still have to do one thing."
A cold look appeared in Su Lin's eyes; he wouldn't let that black-robed stall owner off the hook.
That randomly compiled martial arts manual had almost killed him during training.
To think he was selling such things in the black market to harm people.
Without another word, Su Lin took Li Tao to find a patrolling Law Enforcer.
"I want to report something. I suspect there are undercover rebels in the black market."
Su Lin said with an anxious expression.
Upon hearing this, the Law Enforcer's expression turned serious.
"Who?"
Su Lin then explained the matter regarding the black-robed stall owner.
"I strongly suspect he is one of the rebels, looking to poison the budding martial artists of Jianghuo City."
Su Lin said with great certainty.
The Law Enforcer immediately called over another colleague, and they followed the route Su Lin provided to find the person.
"Brother Su, how did you figure out that old geezer was a rebel?"
"Did you really think I would buy that kind of martial arts manual?"
"No way..."
"That's right, I was just gathering evidence."
Su Lin sneered meaningfully.
Li Tao suddenly realized.
Although Su Lin was just guessing.
"Whether he is a rebel or not isn't important. What's important is that he dared to swindle a customer!"
"How is this any different from fraud? Regardless of whether he's a rebel or not, he needs to be severely punished."
Su Lin thought to himself.
If it weren't for those ominous bugs from earlier making him feel that something was wrong with the black market right now...
...he would have followed the Law Enforcers to demand back the 51 yuan he had been swindled out of.
And add on a fee for emotional distress.
Su Lin and Li Tao walked straight out of the black market.
The two cups of milk tea they had brought were already finished.
"Li Tao, where can I find some part-time work?"
"Brother Su, the college entrance exam is almost here, and you still want to do part-time work?"
"There's no other way. Martial arts cultivation requires money everywhere. If I don't work part-time, where will I get the money?"
Su Lin said seriously.
If he didn't make money, he would soon have no money to buy milk tea.
Without milk tea, even if he had heaven-defying talent, it would be useless.
"Brother Su, you could go check out the Martial Artist Center in the west of the city."
"I heard that they post the most tasks there every day, and there are many simple daily-pay jobs."
"Brother Su, an expert like you with a blood energy breaking through 100 will definitely find work easily."
Li Tao said.
"OK."
Su Lin nodded his head and prepared to find time to go take a look.
"But Brother Su, don't go these next few days; there are still many martial arts classes recently."
"The group chat said that Zhang Tuyuan is going to take us to a secret realm for training."
"Oh."
Su Lin nodded; he wasn't in a rush for a few days.
"Brother Su, the class beauty was just discussing you in the group chat."
"Do you think she wants to team up with you this time?"
Li Tao chuckled.
"Who is the class beauty?"
"Ah?"
