Chapter One Hundred and Eight: Doomsday Seeds Envelop the European Continent, Huaxia and Bear Country Face the Crisis
The alarm for the deployment of the Doomsday Seeds rang out like a death knell across the command channels of all survivor bases worldwide, its piercing shriek nearly shattering the speakers of the communicators.
In the images from the skynet satellites, hundreds of millions of black spores, enveloped in dark purple energy, swept in all directions at supersonic speeds. Everywhere they passed, life was extinguished and calamities were born—strangling vines sprouted from the desolate Gobi, mutated fish rose from the deep ocean, and even those barely holding on survivor strongholds on the European continent fell into the hunting grounds of mutated creatures within a mere half-day.
"Report! The Iberian Peninsula defense line has completely collapsed! The Magnetic Storm Power Grid was shredded by mutated vines, and every member of the last defending force has died for their country!"
"Report! The Alps mountain range shelter is under attack! Those mutated creatures can climb vertical ice walls; the defenders didn't have time to set up defenses at all!"
"Report! Contact has been lost with the European Union headquarters! The last transmitted images show that even their orbital railgun positions were breached from the inside by mutated creatures!"
Battle reports arrived one after another, each carrying blood-colored despair. On the command center's holographic sand table, the area representing Europe was being swallowed by red at an alarming speed, until only a few scattered green dots remained, flickering like candles in the wind, ready to be extinguished at any moment.
"Europe... has completely fallen." Chen Hao looked at the sand table, his voice incredibly hoarse. "Those mutated creatures are even more terrifying than we imagined."
Lin Zhou stared fixedly at the tragic state of the European continent on the screen, his knuckles turning white from the force of his grip. He knew very well that the fall of Europe was not just as simple as losing an ally—Zhulong's Doomsday Seeds were using the flesh and blood of Europe to feed and grow an even larger mutated legion. Within three days, this legion would cross the Ural Mountains and press directly into the heart of Bear Country; within a week, they would traverse the Mediterranean Sea and spread toward the African continent.
"What about the Americas?" Lin Zhou asked in a low voice.
"The American Resistance Army is still desperately defending the Great Lakes Base, but they won't last much longer." The intelligence officer shook his head, his tone heavy. "Their orbital railguns fire too slowly and simply can't keep up with the pace of the mutated creatures' offensive. They are already requesting a retreat route from us."
A deathly silence filled the command center, a heavy weight pressing down on everyone's hearts. The words of the global alliance were still echoing in their ears, yet in the blink of an eye, their allies were reduced to the precarious Americas and the equally endangered Bear Country.
Just then, the hoarse yet majestic voice of the commander of Bear Country's Far East Military Region came over the communicator: "Commander Lin Zhou, our satellites have detected that the mutated legion has crossed the Ural Mountains and is approaching our Far East industrial zone. Bear Country will fight side-by-side with Huaxia until the very last moment!"
Lin Zhou looked up sharply as the figure of the Bear Country commander appeared on the screen. His military uniform was covered in dust, and the sound of artillery fire was constant in the background, yet his eyes burned with an unyielding flame.
"Good!" Lin Zhou's voice was resolute, instantly dispelling the gloom in the command center. "From this moment on, Huaxia and Bear Country shall form the Far East United Defense Line! I order: the Northern Army Group is to immediately dispatch half of its apocalypse tanks to reinforce Bear Country's Far East industrial zone; the Research Team is to accelerate the mass production of Anti-Resonance Bombs and prioritize supplying the Bear Country front lines; the Skynet System is to network with Bear Country's satellites and share all intelligence!"
"Furthermore," Lin Zhou's tone shifted as his gaze swept over everyone, "reply to the American Resistance Army and permit them to retreat to Huaxia's southern coastal bases. But there is one condition—all technical data for the orbital railguns must be shared in full!"
The orders were issued, and the war machine of Dawn City began to operate at full speed once again.
On the production lines of the Northern Steel Base, components for apocalypse tanks were loaded onto trucks overnight and transported to the border; in the laboratories of the Research Center, scientists pushed through their exhaustion to triple the production capacity of Anti-Resonance Bombs; at the ports along the eastern coast, berths had already been cleared to welcome survivors from the Americas.
And on Bear Country's side, they also brought out their trump cards. Dozens of "Winter War God" mechas were urgently deployed to the Far East front lines, their heavy energy cannons capable of tearing through the carapaces of evil gods aimed at the mutated legion's advance route; the mysterious troops at the edge of the Vacuum Forbidden Zone finally revealed their true faces—an elite force equipped with spatial resonance weapons, whose armaments could directly tear through the energy shields of mutated creatures.
To the west of the Ural Mountains, the black tide of the mutated legion surged relentlessly, as countless hideous mutated creatures charged frantically toward the Far East defense line.
To the east of the Ural Mountains, Huaxia's apocalypse tanks and Bear Country's mechas stood side-by-side, magnetic storm energy beams and silvery-white energy cannons intertwining into a net, weaving an indestructible barrier between heaven and earth.
Above the defense line, the figures of Lin Zhou and the Bear Country commander appeared in the footage of the same communication drone.
"Commander Lin Zhou," the Bear Country commander raised the bottle of vodka at his chest, "for the survival of humanity."
Lin Zhou picked up the military canteen beside him and toasted from afar: "For... survival."
The phantom image of their toast flashed on the screen, and then both men turned simultaneously to face the oncoming black tide.
"Fire!"
The two orders were issued simultaneously, and artillery fire tore through the sky.
In the undersea base deep within the Pacific Ocean, Zhulong watched the artillery fire on the Far East defense line on his screen, a cruel smile curling his lips. He slowly turned around and looked at the pulsing broodmother seed inside the incubation pod.
"Huaxia? Bear Country?" Zhulong whispered, a crazed light flashing in his eyes. "Do you think this is my entire hand?"
He slowly pressed a button, and a crack suddenly appeared on the surface of the broodmother seed. From within the crack, a crimson light began to glow slowly.
