91: A strange event occurred at the foot of Mount Fuji: a ferocious lava beast broke free of its cage.

Chapter Ninety-Four: Strange Changes at the Base of Mount Fuji, Magma Fiend Breaks Its Cage

The cheers for Yamamoto Ichiro's capture were still echoing over the Mount Fuji base when a dull vibration suddenly rumbled from the earth.

At first, it was just a slight shaking, like a precursor to an earthquake. The survivors and soldiers in the base didn't pay much attention until the alarms in the main control room shrieked piercingly. The volcanic monitoring data on the screens jumped wildly, and everyone's faces changed drastically.

"This is bad! It's abnormal volcanic activity at Mount Fuji!" A rescued base Technician lunged toward the monitoring screen, his voice trembling with despair. "The pressure inside the volcano is skyrocketing, and... and it's not geological movement; someone is detonating it manually!"

Chen Hao's pupils shrank suddenly. He grabbed Yamamoto Ichiro, who was slumped on the ground, and questioned him harshly: "Speak! What trump card did the Skeleton Serpent leave for you?!"

Yamamoto Ichiro's face was as white as paper, his teeth chattering, and his eyes filled with terror: "It's... it's Lord Zhulong's command... In the experimental chamber at the bottom of Mount Fuji, a Magma Fiend is being cultivated! It's a monster fused from the thermal energy of volcanic magma and Mutant genes... Detonating the volcano was to set it free!"

As soon as these words were spoken, the entire place fell into a deathly silence.

Magma Fiend—the name alone was enough to make one shudder.

Just then, a deafening roar came from the summit of Mount Fuji. Crimson magma, like an enraged fire dragon, broke through the crater and erupted. The scalding magma flowed down the mountainside; wherever it passed, trees instantly turned to charcoal and rocks melted into glass.

What was even more terrifying was that along with the surge of magma, a massive dark shadow slowly crawled out of the crater.

The monster was fully thirty meters tall, its entire body covered in a dark red lava carapace. Scalding magma flowed through the cracks in the shell, and with every step, the rocks beneath its feet melted into pools of lava. Its head was like a massive block of volcanic rock, its eyes were two balls of burning flame, and from its wide-open maw, it exhaled scorching breath that distorted the very air.

"Roar—!"

The Magma Fiend let out a roar that made all of Mount Fuji tremble. Its crimson gaze swept over the base at the foot of the mountain, and it suddenly stepped forward, charging toward the crowd.

"Everyone, evacuate immediately!" Chen Hao roared his orders. "Falcon Fighter Jet Squadron, take off and intercept! phantom tanks, establish a defensive line! Magneto Shock Troopers, prepare to engage the enemy!"

The soldiers reacted quickly, and the survivors were orderly transferred toward the hovercraft by the sea. The falcon fighter jets roared into the sky, and missiles rained down on the Magma Fiend. But when those missiles hit its lava carapace, they only made a "sizzling" sound before being melted by the high temperature, leaving not even a scratch.

The main guns of the phantom tanks fired one after another. Armor-piercing incendiary rounds slammed into the behemoth's body, but they could only blast open a thin layer of the carapace, revealing an even harder inner layer. In pain, the behemoth roared and swung a giant claw, sending a wave of blazing magma sweeping toward the tank positions.

"Get out of the way!"

A tank driver screamed, trying to reverse his tank, but he was still a step too slow. The magma wave swept over, and the tank was instantly melted into a pile of twisted scrap metal.

"This monster is too strong! Ordinary weapons are useless!" Wang Hu's voice came through the communicator—he had just arrived at the coastline with the reinforcements from the Western Army Group.

Chen Hao watched the retreating defensive line with burning anxiety. The Magma Fiend's defense and attack power far exceeded any Mutant they had encountered before, and it could even manipulate magma; it was essentially a mobile volcano.

"We must find its weakness!" Chen Hao shouted into the communicator. "Technicians! Analyze the data on the Magma Fiend immediately!"

The rescued Technicians rushed into the main control room and pulled up the experimental data. Soon, a report was transmitted: "commander! The Magma Fiend's energy core is in its chest cavity! That is the key to how it absorbs magma thermal energy, and it's the only place not covered by the lava carapace! But..."

The Technician's voice paused, carrying a hint of hesitation: "Its core temperature is extremely high, exceeding three thousand degrees Celsius. Ordinary weapons simply cannot get close!"

Three thousand degrees Celsius!

This number made everyone gasp.

Just then, a battalion commander from the Engineering Breakthrough Brigade suddenly shouted, "commander! We still have liquid nitrogen armor-piercing shells! Those were developed by the Research Team specifically to deal with high-temperature Mutants; they can instantly release ultra-low temperatures to freeze the target!"

Chen Hao's eyes lit up: "Deploy them immediately! All firepower, cover the liquid nitrogen armor-piercing shell attack!"

The order was given, and several armored vehicles quickly drove up, their compartments loaded with several thick liquid nitrogen armor-piercing shells. These shells were made of a special alloy and filled with high-pressure liquid nitrogen. Once they hit the target, they could instantly release a temperature of minus two hundred degrees Celsius, enough to freeze magma.

"falcon fighter jets, distract the behemoth!" Chen Hao ordered. "Magneto Shock Troopers, use electrical currents to interfere with its movements!"

The Falcon Fighter Jet Squadron immediately adjusted their direction and dove toward the Magma Fiend's head, their machine guns firing wildly. As expected, the behemoth was enraged; it looked up and roared, its massive claws swatting at the jets. The Magneto Shock Troopers took the opportunity to rush forward, the pulse cannons on their arms glowing with blue light as bolts of electricity shot toward the behemoth's limbs.

When the electricity hit the lava carapace, although it couldn't cause damage, it made the behemoth's movements a bit sluggish.

"Now! Fire the liquid nitrogen armor-piercing shells!"

At Chen Hao's command, flames burst from the muzzles of the armored vehicles. Three liquid nitrogen armor-piercing shells trailed exhaust flames as they shot like meteors toward the Magma Fiend's chest.

"Sss—!"

The shells hit the target precisely and exploded instantly. Ultra-low temperature liquid nitrogen gushed out, colliding violently with the scalding magma core. White frost rose into the sky, making a piercing sound.

The Magma Fiend let out a shrill wail, its massive body trembling violently. The magma core in its chest cavity froze at a visible speed, and a thick layer of white frost quickly covered its dark red lava carapace.

"It's working! Continue the attack!" Chen Hao was ecstatic.

The falcon fighter jets' missiles, the phantom tanks' main guns, and the Magneto Shock Troopers' electricity—all firepower was once again concentrated on the behemoth's core.

"Boom—!"

With a loud explosion, the Magma Fiend's chest burst open, and the frozen core shattered into countless pieces. Scalding magma poured out of the cracks, but it was quickly frozen by the low temperature, turning into black rock.

The behemoth's movements stopped completely, and the flames in its eyes slowly died out. Its massive body swayed and fell heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

The volcanic eruption also gradually subsided.

The survivors erupted into thunderous cheers, and the soldiers embraced each other and wept.

Chen Hao stood on the messy battlefield, looking at the fallen Magma Fiend, and let out a long sigh of relief. This battle had been too close.

But he didn't know that the miniature signal transmitter hidden in a corner of the base was still blinking with a faint light.

In the underwater base deep in the Pacific Ocean, Zhulong watched the image of the Magma Fiend falling on the screen, the smile on the corners of his mouth growing deeper.

"liquid nitrogen armor-piercing shells? Interesting." He lightly stroked his chin, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes. "Lin Zhou, Chen Hao, your strength has exceeded my expectations."
