115: Nuclear destruction overwhelms Australia, and a broken blade destroys the East China Sea camp.
Chapter One Hundred and Eighteen: Cores Destroyed and Tides Recede in Australia, Blades Broken and Plots Thwarted at the East Sea Camp
On the beaches of Australia's east coast, thick smoke filled the air, and blood stained the yellow sands.
The massive shadow of the Super-Tier Godslayer blotted out the sun as it shook off the wreckage of apocalypse tanks clinging to its body. The multiple cores on its cranium flickered with a violent crimson light as it charged toward the distant mother nest energy core wreckage. That wreckage stood upon the wasteland like a severed black pillar reaching for the heavens, its surface still emitting dark purple energy fluctuations—the very source supporting the rapid evolution of the entire God Devourer army.
“Don't let it get close! All apocalypse tanks, focus fire on its legs!” Zhao Shanhe's roar echoed across the battlefield through the communicators. The treads of his command tank had been corroded by acid, leaving him only able to rotate the turret in place as the Railgun continuously fired golden energy beams.
Hundreds of apocalypse tanks turned their muzzles simultaneously, sending golden energy beams like a dense rain of arrows toward the Super-Tier Godslayer's leg scales. Explosions erupted one after another; scales shattered, and dark purple blood spurted out. The Super-Tier Godslayer's pace visibly slowed, yet it did not stop. Its massive claws slammed into the ground, creating shockwaves and flying debris that flipped several apocalypse tanks over.
“Trap is ready! Requesting fleet fire support to lure it into the designated zone!” the officer in charge of setting the trap shouted into his communicator.
Out at sea, the main cannons of the dawn flagship thundered. A giant Vacuum Implosion Bomb trailed a long tail of flame, landing precisely a short distance in front of the Super-Tier Godslayer. The violent explosion formed a massive energy vortex that caused the Super-Tier Godslayer to stumble, its direction involuntarily veering toward the area filled with explosives and energy traps.
“Now!”
At Zhao Shanhe's command, the apocalypse tanks lying in ambush all around opened fire at once. Modified Dual-Effect Anti-Core Bombs and high-energy explosives formed a dense web of fire, pinning the Super-Tier Godslayer firmly within the trap zone. The Super-Tier Godslayer let out an angry roar, its claws tearing at the ground as it tried to break through the encirclement, only to be knocked down by the continuous waves of exploding energy.
“Deploy all remaining modified anti-core bombs! Target: its main core!”
Lin Zhou's order came from the fleet. Over ten Modified Dual-Effect Anti-Core Bombs launched simultaneously, like golden shooting stars, accurately striking the main core on the Super-Tier Godslayer's cranium.
“BOOM—!”
Following an earth-shaking explosion, golden flames soared into the sky, completely consuming the Super-Tier Godslayer's head. The multiple cores shattered one by one within the flames, and the dark purple energy fluctuations instantly dissipated. The Super-Tier Godslayer's massive body twitched a few times before collapsing with a thunderous crash, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
Without the support of the mother nest energy core wreckage, the remaining God Devourer army on the battlefield instantly fell into chaos. Their evolution speed plummeted, the energy luster on their scales began to fade, and their originally violent attack power dropped significantly.
“All forces, advance! Completely annihilate the remaining God Devourers!” Lin Zhou's voice was filled with excitement.
Fleet artillery, apocalypse tank volleys, and aerial strikes from fighter jets formed a lethal web of fire, tearing apart and incinerating the God Devourers one by one. On the battlefield of Australia's east coast, the outcome was decided; the decline of the God Devourer army was irreversible.
Meanwhile, at the Research Center of the East Sea Barrier Base, the slaughter finally reached its end.
The last member of the Shadow Blade Squad was hit by a Genetic-enhanced Soldier's Magnetic Storm Rifle, his body twitching and falling amidst blue electrical arcs. The Research Center's hall was littered with robot wreckage, broken weapon parts, and dark red bloodstains. The blue arcs of the Magnetic Storm Power Grid were still jumping, and the air was thick with the smell of char and blood.
Chen Hao leaned on his Magnetic Storm Combat Blade, gasping for breath, his combat uniform riddled with wounds and blood dripping down his arm. He looked at the surrounding mess, but his eyes were exceptionally firm: “Count the casualties, repair the defense system, and immediately check if the core data and specimens are intact!”
The research personnel moved quickly. After an inspection, the Larvae Specimens were found to be unharmed, but the core data server had sustained minor damage. Some basic parameters of the Modified Dual-Effect Anti-Core Bombs and the gene sequence data of the Australian God Devourers had been sent out by the Shadow Blade Squad via encrypted communicators.
“Staff Officer Chen, the data has been leaked!” the Research Team Leader's face was pale. “Although it's only basic parameters, if the remnants of the Skeleton Serpent obtain them, they might develop technology to counter our weapons!”
Chen Hao's expression instantly became solemn: “Immediately initiate the data back-tracking program and lock onto the Shadow Blade Squad's communication receiving address! Simultaneously, strengthen signal monitoring globally to prevent the leaked data from spreading!”
Just then, an emergency report came from the detention room: “Staff Officer Chen! Zhulong attempted to activate a hidden self-destruct sequence within the base, but we discovered and stopped him in time! He is currently in an extremely violent emotional state; requesting instructions!”
Chen Hao's heart sank, and he immediately rushed to the detention room.
Inside the detention room, Zhulong was firmly locked in Magnetic Storm Shackles, his whole body struggling, his eyes full of madness and despair: “Why! Why do you always manage to ruin my plans! The data has already been sent out; my remnants will get it, they will breed even more powerful monsters, and they will destroy everything you have!”
“Give it up!” Chen Hao looked at him coldly. “We've already started data back-tracking; your remnants won't escape. Besides, without the mother nest energy core and the Larvae Specimens, they can't do anything with just some basic parameters.”
Zhulong's body suddenly stiffened, the madness in his eyes gradually replaced by despair. He knew Chen Hao was telling the truth. Without the mother nest core, the God Devourer army, and the Shadow Blade Squad, he had completely lost the capital to make a comeback.
“Lin Zhou... I won't let you go even as a ghost!” Zhulong let out a shrill roar and then slumped to the ground, his eyes hollow, no longer possessing his previous madness and malice.
Chen Hao looked at his dejected state and turned to order the guards: “Keep him under strict watch; no one is allowed to contact him. Also, notify Commander Lin that the reports on the Australian battlefield and the base raid are complete.”
On the dawn flagship far away in Australia, Lin Zhou received Chen Hao's report. Looking at the screens showing the cleanup of the Australian battlefield and the messy scenes within the base, he was filled with mixed emotions.
In this two-front operation, humanity had paid a heavy price—the expeditionary force suffered nearly thirty percent casualties, over half of the Apocalypse Tank Division was lost, and the East Sea Barrier Base was heavily damaged, with many researchers and guards sacrificing their lives. But they had also achieved a decisive victory: they destroyed the mother nest energy core wreckage, annihilated the God Devourer army in Australia, purged the Shadow Blade Squad, and secured the core technology and Larvae Specimens.
“Order the troops to establish a temporary outpost in Australia, clear out the remaining God Devourer larvae, and search for any possible survivors,” Lin Zhou ordered into the communicator. “East Sea Barrier Base, focus all efforts on repairing facilities and strengthening defenses. We must recover the leaked data.”
“Yes, sir!”
The fleet's gunfire gradually subsided, and the smoke on Australia's east coast began to disperse. Sunlight pierced through the dark purple mist, spilling onto the devastated land and illuminating the tired but determined faces of the soldiers.
Lin Zhou stood on the command tower, looking at the distant horizon. He knew in his heart that this victory was only a milestone in the apocalypse. The remnants of the Skeleton Serpent had not yet been cleared, the leaked data could trigger a new crisis, and although Zhulong had lost his power, hidden dangers remained.
But he felt no fear. Having survived countless life-and-death trials, humanity had coalesced into an invincible force. As long as they remained united and held fast to their beliefs, they would surely find a path to hope amidst this apocalyptic catastrophe.
“Next objective: completely wipe out the remnants of the Skeleton Serpent and recover all leaked data,” Lin Zhou said softly, a sharp light gleaming in his eyes.
