69: Chapter 69 Conspiracy

A silver-grey, exclusive Federal hovercar slowly drove up, its body engraved with the emblem of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the energy thrusters on the car faintly shimmered with a pale blue halo.

"Mr. Mo, please get in. The entrance to the A793 Fragment World is not far from the city; we can arrive in ten minutes." The Federal Agent helped Mo Yufei open the car door.

Mo Yufei bent down and sat in the back seat of the hovercar. The space inside was quite spacious. The moment the door closed, the hovercar jolted violently, then rose steadily into the air, speeding away from the platform like an arrow released from a bowstring.

Outside the car window, the skyscrapers of Tieyuan City receded rapidly, and the flashing neon light strips and the civilian hovercars weaving back and forth all turned into blurred light and shadows.

Mo Yufei leaned back against the seat, opened his communication bracelet, and found Wang Chen's contact information.

He sent a message to Wang Chen: "Wang Chen, the Federation claims to have discovered natives in the Fragment World, saying they are suspected to be of my kin, and asked me to go and identify them. I am now heading to the entrance of the Fragment World. There is no signal inside the secret realm, so don't worry if you can't reach me."

Wang Chen was straightforward and a decent person. Notifying him served two purposes: first, to let him know his whereabouts, and second, in case he suddenly left, it would serve as a farewell.

Not long after, the bracelet vibrated slightly, and Wang Chen's reply came through: "Brother Mo, I haven't received any relevant news! When were living people discovered? This matter is a bit strange, you must be careful! I am heading to the secret realm immediately. Turn on your bracelet's positioning communication. Although there is no signal inside the secret realm and it cannot connect to the outside world, as long as I enter the secret realm, the two bracelets can sense each other within a certain range, which will make it easier for me to find you."

Mo Yufei only replied with one word: "Okay!"

The hovercar was extremely fast. In just a few minutes, it drove out of the urban area of Tieyuan City and sped towards the spatial node in the suburbs.

At the entrance of the Fragment World, the hovercar landed slowly.

The Federal Agent named Lin Ran said to Mo Yufei: "Mr. Mo, we have arrived at the entrance of the Fragment World. We are preparing to enter now."

"Okay!" Mo Yufei responded. He had chatted a lot with this agent named Lin Ran in the hovercar, but he didn't get any important information, other than knowing his name and that he was one of the people in charge of this Fragment World mission.

Mo Yufei stepped out of the car. He looked up at the pale blue halo, his eyes cold and calm, his heart already prepared to deal with any unforeseen events.

But what he didn't know was that from the moment he boarded the exclusive hovercar, his movements had been tightly locked onto by pairs of sinister eyes, never once escaping their control.

In the clouds a thousand meters high, a Blood Killing Hall reconnaissance airship with its aura concealed hovered silently. Its hull was covered with stealth coating, bypassing all of the Federation's detection radars.

Inside the cabin, several black-clad sentries stared at the holographic tracking screen in front of them. On the screen, the red dot representing Mo Yufei was steadily stopped at the entrance of the Fragment World, visible in every detail.

"The target has arrived at the entrance of the A793 Fragment World and is about to enter the rift. Should we follow?" A sentry reported in a low voice into the communicator, his tone respectful.

From the other end of the communicator came the cold, ruthless voice of a Blood Killing Hall deacon: "No need to act rashly. Follow the predetermined plan. You must capture him alive and force out all the secrets of the Fragment World's core!"

"Yes!"

The sentry acknowledged the order, maneuvered the reconnaissance airship to slowly lower its altitude, followed behind the Federal team, and waited for an opportunity to approach the spatial rift.

Mo Yufei followed Lin Ran towards the entrance of the Fragment World, took a deep breath, and stepped into the rift. The Federal Agents behind him followed closely, and the shadows in the clouds also followed silently.

Beside the entrance of the Fragment World, Lin Ran raised his hand to signal the team to stop and pointed to a vehicle parked not far away to explain.

"Mr. Mo, we need to switch vehicles now. The Federal hovercar we just rode in relies entirely on the Main World's star hub network for power, navigation, and remote control. Once we enter the interior of the Fragment World, the network signal will be completely cut off, making it impossible to drive stably, and it might even go completely out of control. Moreover, the hovercar's shell only has basic protection and cannot withstand the energy turbulence and unknown dangers within the Fragment World; it is simply not suitable for going deep into the secret realm."

Looking in the direction Lin Ran pointed, Mo Yufei's gaze instantly froze. It was a crescent-shaped airship, with an overall curved, streamlined shape. The hull was a matte dark grey, and it was equipped with small defensive turrets on top, looking sturdy and swift.

"This is a specialized exploration airship. It comes with an independent energy core and does not need to rely on the star hub network. Its protective shield can withstand intermediate spatial turbulence, and its range and maneuverability are suitable for the secret realm environment. It is the standard vehicle for venturing deep into the Fragment World," Lin Ran added, then walked towards the airship first.

Mo Yufei followed without changing his expression, but anxiety about the "natives" still swirled in his heart. At the same time, his nerves remained tense, and he secretly kept an eye on all movements around him.

Just as Mo Yufei walked to the entrance of the airship and was about to step into the cabin, a gaze swept over discreetly from behind the transparent protective shield of the cockpit.

This person sat upright in the driver's seat the whole time, without any unnecessary movements, looking indistinguishable from an ordinary Federal pilot. But when those eyes glanced at Mo Yufei, they did so extremely quickly, carrying a trace of imperceptible sinister and ruthless intent.

This person was a hidden assassin planted by the Blood Killing Hall in the Federal team!

But Mo Yufei did not sense any of this. He walked slowly into the airship cabin and found a seat by the window.

Watching the pilot skillfully operate the airship to start, the energy thrusters emitted a slight hum, and the crescent airship slowly rose into the air, flying towards the depths of the Fragment World.

Lin Ran sat opposite him, still giving instructions on precautions within the Fragment World, his tone serious, completely unaware that his team had long been carrying an undercover agent and had stepped into a trap set by the Blood Killing Hall.

Mo Yufei listened attentively on the surface, but in reality, his mind was highly focused, thinking about how he should handle the situation when he met the real natives later.

The scenery of the secret realm outside the window receded rapidly, and the airship flew steadily, but the atmosphere inside the cabin became increasingly oppressive in an invisible way.

A murderous intent hidden beneath the calm was quietly approaching as the airship moved forward.

The airship flew steadily under the dim sky of the Fragment World, with rolling mountains and forests and swarms of exotic beasts below.

The atmosphere in the cabin was peaceful, and the light hum of the instruments running sounded gently. The Federal Agents were either closing their eyes to rest or staring at the detectors to check the data. Lin Ran sat in the front row, occasionally giving a few instructions on flight precautions.

Mo Yufei sat by the window, his expression calm and waveless, completely unaware of any anomalies.

He had long since put away the insignificant anxiety in his heart; anyway, he could run away at any time.

Just at this moment, a rapid fault alarm suddenly sounded in the cockpit, the beeping sound sharp and piercing, breaking the calm in the cabin.

The pilot's voice followed immediately, with just the right amount of panic and urgency: "Team Leader Lin! It's bad, the energy core on the left side of the airship has suffered a sudden failure, the energy circuit is broken, the protective shield power has plummeted, and we cannot continue to fly. We must make an emergency landing immediately!"
