71: Chapter 71: I'll pay for everything!
Du Aoling opened the car door and sat in the passenger seat.
As soon as she fastened her seatbelt, she took two small buns and a carton of milk that had clearly been heated up from her small bag.
"Brother, have you had breakfast?"
"If you haven't, I brought you something to eat."
Jiang Li glanced at her, feeling a bit surprised.
He hadn't expected this young girl to be so thoughtful despite her age.
"I've already eaten."
Jiang Li started the car. "I just got back from the Gym. I ate before I went."
Breakfast was, of course, made by Yuan Yan.
As long as he was home, no matter how tired she was the night before, Yuan Yan would always get up to cook the next day.
This woman really was impeccable when it came to taking care of people.
When Du Aoling heard the word "Gym," her eyes clearly lit up.
"Brother, you work out too?"
"I train occasionally."
Jiang Li said it quite casually.
But Du Aoling was even more pleasantly surprised.
Wealthy, young, and fit.
Putting these three conditions together was already outrageous in Fanxing County.
Let alone Fanxing County, even in a big city, this would count as a rare spawn point.
Du Aoling couldn't help but sneak a glance at Jiang Li.
If she could marry Jiang Li and have his children... wouldn't that child be...?
But as soon as this thought popped up, she quickly suppressed it.
Du Aoling read quite a lot and never looked at those messy, toxic inspirational quotes online.
She understood one principle very clearly.
If you want to become a general's wife, it's best to follow him when he's still just a soldier.
By the time he returns on a tall horse, his side is already coveted by who knows how many people.
It was obvious that Jiang Li was no longer a soldier.
It was impossible for her to be the main wife.
However...
Not being the main wife didn't mean she had no chance.
Du Aoling looked down at the bun in her hand, then quietly put it back into her bag.
Her greatest strength was that she wouldn't place herself in too high a position right from the start.
The vehicle drove slowly out of the village.
Jiang Li asked, "Where do you want to go to have fun?"
Du Aoling looked up at him, her tone a bit cautious.
"Can we go to the county, Brother?"
"You don't want to go to the scenic area?" Jiang Li was a bit puzzled, because there really wasn't anything fun in Fanxing County.
It was different from big cities here; even the landmark commercial district, Wanda, was barely hanging on.
Du Aoling shook her head. "My home is near the scenic area. I go there often, so I'm already tired of it..."
She smiled a little embarrassedly as she said this.
"If it's okay, I still feel like the county is more fun."
Jiang Li nodded.
"Alright, then we'll go to the county."
The car drove onto the main road.
The road was much wider than in the village, and occasionally, buses and private cars heading to the scenic area could be seen on the side.
While driving, Jiang Li asked, "Do you want to watch a movie or buy something?"
After speaking, he thought about Du Aoling's age and added another sentence.
"Playing games is fine too."
"We can go check out arcades or game halls."
Du Aoling shook her head quickly, sticking out the tip of her tongue in embarrassment. "I don't know how to play games."
She was being very honest when she said this.
She really didn't have any time to play usually.
When she was in school, she read and studied; after the holidays, it was yoga and various exercises.
While others were scrolling through videos or playing games, she was mostly memorizing words or stretching.
This kind of life sounded quite boring.
But Du Aoling was used to it.
"Then where do you want to go?"
Du Aoling thought for a moment, then looked at Jiang Li with bright eyes.
"Can we go to the Cultural Corridor?"
Jiang Li was stunned for a moment.
"The Cultural Corridor?"
He really hadn't expected Du Aoling to bring up this place.
The Cultural Corridor, while called a corridor, was actually just a small commodity market in the county.
The things they sold were very mixed.
Small gifts, plush toys, stationery, phone cases, hair clips, milk tea, and snacks.
Local students loved going there to browse.
It didn't cost much, and it could kill half a day.
Especially after the holidays, it was often packed with students.
Jiang Li had also been there when he was in school.
Back then, he didn't have much money. He'd go in for a walk, buy a bottle of soda, look at the things in the boutiques, brag to friends, and the day would pass.
It was just that he hadn't expected Du Aoling to actually like going to such a place.
Last time when Du Aoling took the initiative to ask for his WeChat, he thought she was a very bold girl too.
Now it seemed she was indeed different from Du Aoting.
Du Aoting's boldness carried with it some purposeful packaging.
Du Aoling's boldness was more like a young girl knowing what she wanted, carrying some girlish thoughts and fantasies.
It was quite interesting.
"Alright."
Jiang Li turned at the intersection.
"Then we'll go to the Cultural Corridor."
Du Aoling immediately became happy.
"Thank you, Brother!"
Seeing her reaction, Jiang Li couldn't help but smile.
When others came out to play with him, they were often figuring out how to make him spend money.
Someone like Wang Yaoyao would even arrange emotional value clearly and explicitly.
But Du Aoling was different.
He took her to the Cultural Corridor, and she could be this happy.
This consumption level was so low that it made Jiang Li a bit unaccustomed to it...
Before long, the yangwang u8 stopped in a parking space outside the Cultural Corridor.
After getting out of the car, Jiang Li looked at the gate ahead and suddenly felt like a lifetime had passed.
The gate was still the same gate, just much older than in his memory.
The words on it were fading, and the wall plaster nearby had cracked in a few places.
But the small stalls at the entrance were still there, and the area was full of high school seniors who had just graduated not long ago.
As soon as Du Aoling got out of the car, she ran to a small stall nearby, bought two ice creams, and handed one to Jiang Li.
"Brother, here you go."
Jiang Li took it and couldn't help but grin. "So polite?"
Du Aoling puffed out her chest, looking very serious.
"Of course! When I was in school, I just studied and didn't have any friends. Thank you for taking me out to play."
"As a reward, I'll pay for everything today!"
After saying this, she patted her small bag, her expression very bold.
If Jiang Li didn't know the consumption level of the Cultural Corridor, he would have almost believed her.
Watching her serious look, Jiang Li couldn't help but laugh.
"Alright."
"Then I'll rely on Boss Du today."
Upon hearing this title, Du Aoling's eyes immediately curved into crescents.
"No problem!"
"Boss Du has a very sufficient budget today!"
Jiang Li took a bite of the ice cream.
The sweetness was very ordinary, even a bit cheap, and couldn't compare to the food made by chain stores.
But for some reason, he felt quite relaxed.
Unlike the testing and reciprocation between adults like Wang Yaoyao, Du Aoling still had a bit of student-like innocence.
Playing with this kind of young person didn't seem so bad.
At the very least, it was fun, wasn't it?
