152: Chapter 152 The Deity Appears, the Five Great Families Kneel in Worship
After missing his target for the sixth time, Solomon finally stopped charging.
Three streams of black smoke gathered in mid-air, reforming into that humanoid figure covered in a black Nano-Carapace.
He stood where he was, his compound eyes flashing with rapid, dark red light, as if he were scanning the entire surrounding space using a sensory mode that transcended human vision.
Then he suddenly raised his arm and, without hesitation, peeled all the crystals on both sides of his compound eyes right out of their sockets.
The black nano-units rapidly gathered inside the hollow eye sockets, generating a brand new pair of compound eyes for him.
He threw the old compound eye fragments to the ground, lifted his new eyes to look at Rockefeller, his tone as cold as ice water seeping up from the depths of the underground.
"As expected of The Five Great Families, your foundation is indeed deep enough."
"To think you could tamper with my retinas without me noticing."
"But this time, you won't be able to escape!"
Rockefeller III watched as Solomon transformed into three streams of black smoke again and lunged toward him. He really wanted to open his mouth and tell the other party:
That high-tech thing that changed his retinas really didn't belong to The Five Great Families.
But the situation no longer allowed him to say another word.
The speed of those three streams of black smoke was faster than before, the angles more treacherous, instantly sealing off all his escape routes, front, back, left, and right.
He stood in front of the corridor wall, surrounded by corpse fragments and smoking bullet holes on the walls, with no cover or guards left to rely on.
Samuel, standing to the side, instinctively reached out to pull him, but before his fingers could even touch his cuff, he was repelled by the airflow carried by the black smoke.
Isabelle closed her eyes.
The three streams of black smoke collided with him.
And at the very same instant of impact, they passed straight through the target's body.
Rockefeller III froze in place.
He looked down at his own unharmed hands, then looked up again at the empty air in front of him after the black smoke had passed through, and then he saw it.
To his left, someone was standing there, though he didn't know when they had arrived.
He whipped his head around to look.
That person also turned to look at him at the same instant.
That person looked exactly like him,
the same iron-gray short hair, the same high cheekbones and deep-set eye sockets, the same emerald ring worn on the left index finger.
The three streams of black smoke passed straight through the eyes and mouth of that Rockefeller who looked exactly like him,
like passing through a phantom made of light, slamming into the corridor wall and blasting a dense web of cracks into the alloy steel surface.
Samuel Astor's eyes widened.
He looked at that transparent figure that had appeared out of thin air and looked exactly like Rockefeller,
and then looked at the real Rockefeller standing next to him, who was equally dumbfounded; his lips moved several times, but he couldn't utter a single word.
Isabelle had already opened her eyes,
she clutched her bulletproof cloak tightly, her gaze fixed on the phantom, her pupils contracting sharply in shock,
but her lips were already beginning to move, as if she were rapidly calculating every possible explanation.
Jacob Rothschild's reaction was the most direct;
he stood where he was, his shoulders slightly pulled back, fine beads of sweat on his forehead reflecting the emergency lights.
William Vanderbilt V had just set his empty whiskey flask down by his feet and stood up, but he stood frozen as if nailed to the spot,
his gaze dull and fixed on the silhouette that was still moving slowly—the one that looked exactly like Rockefeller.
Rockefeller III's brain was already running at full speed.
Since this unknown weapon did not come from The Five Great Families,
then, on this planet, there were only three forces currently capable of confronting Solomon's alien Nano-Carapace at the same level:
The Longevity Faction, The Tech Faction, and Grey Alien from the Zeta Star.
The Deep State officials of The Longevity Faction and The Tech Faction were always accompanied by lightning phenomena whenever they appeared;
this was first-hand intelligence he had heard with his own ears from Edward at Spring Mountain Manor.
Yet this transparent existence before him, which looked exactly like him, had no thunder, no electric arcs, and no beams of light descending from the sky;
it had simply emerged from the air without a sound, stood beside him without a sound, and created a visual deviation that even the Nano-Carapace could not identify without a sound.
By the time he reached his conclusion, Solomon had just pulled his right hand, which had passed through the phantom, out of the wall and turned to lock onto his target again.
Rockefeller III didn't care about any considerations of etiquette or poise; he immediately bowed his head toward the figure standing shoulder-to-shoulder with him, his voice lowered to a whisper, but every word filled with unreserved solemnity.
"Noble Envoy of the Zeta Star, please forgive my lack of insight earlier; I failed to recognize your identity."
"Please accept the most sincere respects of the Rockefeller family!"
When Samuel heard the words "Noble Envoy of the Zeta Star," the string that had been pulled tight in his mind suddenly gave a "hum" and snapped.
He remembered Edward telling them in the study at Spring Mountain Manor that Grey Alien possessed a holographic communication device capable of unfolding into a two-dimensional plane, allowing them to appear anywhere without spatial limitations.
This transparent figure before them that looked exactly like Rockefeller III was not from The Longevity Faction or The Tech Faction; Solomon's compound eyes, which could even regenerate microscopic crystals, were unable to hit it no matter what.
Therefore, almost instinctively, he followed Rockefeller and bowed.
Isabelle followed suit and lowered her head.
Jacob and William also bowed deeply at the same time.
In the entire corridor,
the five heads of the most elite families in the Lighthouse Country were all bowing respectfully to the transparent figure that had emerged from the void,
their napes exposed in unison under the cold lights, with not a single person daring to raise their head first.
The transparent figure standing by the wall suddenly moved after Rockefeller III finished speaking.
It slowly turned its head, and the silhouette that had been exactly like Rockefeller III began to change slowly;
the figure became slender, the shoulder lines softened, the hair bun grew longer, and the facial features shed the angles of that old man, Rockefeller, layer by layer, gradually outlining the appearance of a classical woman with an Eastern face.
Her features were dignified and cold, her eyebrows like distant mountains, her eyes like pools of cold water, her lips pressed together, possessing an air of authority without anger.
A deep cyan Hanfu draped down from her shoulders and neck, the cuffs embroidered with dark golden cloud patterns, her hem swaying in the air without any wind.
She stood there, her entire being suspended between transparency and solidity, like an ancient scroll projected into three-dimensional space.
Then, she spoke.
The initial voice was still the hoarse and seasoned male voice of Rockefeller III,
but immediately after, the male voice seemed to be covered by some softer waveform, transitioning from the deep, rough voice of a man to a neutral, flat tone, and then from neutral to the cold and steady voice of a woman,
the tone was flat, but every word carried a penetrating power that sent a chill down the spines of everyone present.
"As expected of Rockefeller, the smartest big capitalist on this planet."
"To have guessed my identity so quickly."
