439: The Beginning of Revenge

The Blood Boiling Tavern lived up to its name.

It was hidden deep in the back alleys of the shadows cast by the massive architectural complex of the Blood Prison Arena, built from heavy black stones covered in filthy blood scabs, with a low lintel that resembled the gaping maw of a Vicious Beast.

Before even stepping inside, a mixed scent so intense it was nauseating wafted toward him.

As he pushed open the creaking wooden door that looked like it might fall apart at any moment, a deafening clamor hit him like a physical wave of sound.

The interior of the tavern was dimly lit, with only a few yellowed beast oil lamps on the walls whose fat was nearly burned out providing illumination.

The air was thick with smoke, mixed with the smell of sweat, alcohol, and blood, forming a greasy mist.

The rough stone tables and stools were crowded with all sorts of ruffians, most of whom were bare-chested with hideous scars, their eyes fierce and greedy. They were either gulping down cloudy ale, bragging loudly about their achievements in the arena, or lustfully eyeing a few numb-looking waitresses in revealing clothes in the corner.

In the deepest part of the tavern, in a relatively spacious corner, the atmosphere was particularly arrogant.

Three stone tables were pushed together, piled high with leftover beast bones and overturned wine jars.

Three figures sat around the tables—the targets!

At the head was a giant man like an iron tower, his bare upper body muscles knotted like rocks and covered in crisscrossing scars. The most prominent was a hideous saber scar slashing diagonally from his left shoulder to his right waist.

He was none other than the Bone-Splitting Saber, Wu Kui.

At this moment, he had one foot on a stone stool and was slowly carving a piece of unknown beast leg meat with a terrifying bone saber as wide as a door plank, its edge full of serrations and dark red blood grooves, causing meat scraps and grease to fly.

Sitting next to him was a seductive woman in a flamboyant and revealing red dress, the Poison-Hearted Spider, Liu Sanniang.

Nearly transparent threads were wrapped around her fingertips, with several tiny, colorful, and clearly highly venomous spiders tied to the ends. She was giggling as she flicked a poisonous spider toward the neck of a nearby drunken man.

The man's face instantly turned black, and he collapsed to the ground twitching, drawing a burst of laughter from those around him, yet no one dared to step forward.

Opposite Liu Sanniang, sitting in the shadows, was a man as skinny as a stick wearing grey tight-fitting clothes, the Ghost Shadow, Mo Qi.

His entire being seemed to blend into the dim light, his aura flickering in and out of existence. Only his eyes occasionally lifted like a lurking venomous snake, coldly scanning the room, while his hands toyed with several darts whose edges were quenched with an eerie blue luster.

"Damn, that Iron-Backed Rock Bear today was really something! It took me twenty-seven slashes to split open its turtle shell! The way the blood sprayed, haha!"

Wu Kui gulped down a large mouthful of wine and roared with alcoholic breath, slamming his bone saber heavily onto the stone table with a dull thud.

Liu Sanniang covered her mouth and giggled, her poisonous spiders crawling on her fingertips. "Boss Wu is truly brave! But it's still a bit less interesting than my newly prepared Marrow-Eroding Spider Venom. I'll use it on those new brats in the arena later to make sure they watch their own bones slowly melt away amidst their wails. Now that will be a spectacle!"

Mo Qi chimed in sinisterly, his voice as raspy as sandpaper rubbing together. "Hmph, a bunch of useless trash. Boss Li said to keep a low profile lately as things are getting a bit heated outside, especially the news about the War King and Asura..."

Before he could finish his sentence, his pupils suddenly contracted!

Boom—!

The already shaky tavern door was hit head-on as if by a siege hammer, instantly exploding into countless fragments that shot into the tavern like a torrential rain, carrying violent energy!

"Ah—!"

"Who the hell is looking for death?!"

Screams, angry curses, and the sound of overturning tables and chairs instantly erupted!

A few unlucky fellows near the door were hit by the fragments, blood splattering as they fell to the ground wailing.

The entire tavern was instantly thrown into chaos!

Amidst the smoke, dust, and wood splinters, two figures like demon gods tearing through a storm stepped over the mess on the floor and walked in step by step.

Di Lingxiao walked in front, his red hair unrestrained and his gaze disdainful. A wild yet cold smile hung on the corner of his mouth, and his Battle Intent was like boiling magma. With every step he took, the ground trembled slightly, and the black markings of his Undying Battle Body were faintly visible under his skin, emitting a heart-palpitating pressure.

Di Wushang followed half a step behind, his face as cold as ten-thousand-year-old ice. His Asura Demonic Eyes flickered with an eerie light, precisely locking onto the trio in the corner. That grim and pure killing intent caused the temperature in the tavern to plummet, as if they had instantly fallen into an Asura sea of blood!

"War King?! Asura?!" Wu Kui stood up abruptly, his tower-like body exploding with a fierce aura. He pointed his massive serrated bone saber at the two of them, the muscles on his face twitching in both shock and anger.

"You dare come here to act wild?!"

The coquettish smile on Liu Sanniang's face vanished instantly, replaced by a venomous coldness. The transparent threads on her fingertips tightened, and several poisonous spiders hissed, their bodies swelling and glowing with a lethal, eerie light.

Mo Qi, on the other hand, was like a startled civet cat; his figure flickered and almost completely blended into the shadows of the corner. His aura disappeared entirely, with only a few strands of cold killing intent locking onto Di Wushang like poison needles.

"Act wild?"

Di Lingxiao surveyed the chaotic tavern, looking at the ruffians retreating in terror. His gaze finally landed on Wu Kui as he grinned, revealing pearl-white teeth.

"I'm here to collect a debt! The fangs of that old poisonous snake Li Xiong should be pulled today!"

Before his voice could fade, his figure suddenly vanished from where he stood!

The terrifying power granted by the Undying Battle Body crushed the floor as he turned into a streak of red light, tearing through the air with an ear-piercing explosive roar!

His target was Wu Kui, who was right at the front!

"Arrogant! Die for me!"

Wu Kui was furious. He was a bloodthirsty madman by nature, and though he was shocked, he was not afraid.

Facing Di Lingxiao's frontal assault, he did not retreat but instead roared, his muscles bulging like steel as he poured the violent spiritual energy of the Law Realm Sixth Level into his bone saber!

The massive serrated bone saber was instantly covered in a pale white fierce light. Carrying the terrifying power to cleave mountains and peaks, it kicked up a stinking astral wind and slashed down violently toward the incoming red light!

"Army Breaking · Mountain Collapse!"

Di Lingxiao's roar was like a thunderous explosion!

Facing this terrifying strike, he actually didn't dodge!

At some point, he had already gripped the dragon fall spear in his hand!

He thrust the dragon fall spear upward in the most vigorous and fierce manner!

On the spear's shaft, Army Breaking Evil Qi roared like an angry dragon, condensing into a tangible spear astral!

Clang—!!!!

A deafening clanging of metal, like a thunderclap from the Nine Heavens, exploded within the narrow tavern!

The terrifying sound waves, mixed with the violent shockwave, suddenly spread out!

Crack! Crash!

The surrounding stone tables and stools were instantly blown away and shattered as if they were made of paper!

A few ruffians who were slightly closer were slammed away by the shockwave, coughing up blood as they hit the walls!

The entire tavern seemed to shake violently under this single strike!

The sneer on Wu Kui's face instantly froze!

He felt as if his bone saber hadn't struck a spear, but had instead crashed into a divine mountain moving at high speed!

A peerlessly violent great strength surged through the bone saber and into his arms!

"Ugh—!"

Wu Kui let out a painful grunt as the sleeves on both his arms instantly exploded. His muscular arms trembled violently, and the tiger's mouths on his hands split open, dripping with blood!

The great strength he was so proud of appeared so pathetic before Di Lingxiao's domineering spear strike, which was fused with the Undying Battle Body's Origin and triggered by the Army Breaking God Slaying Spear Art!

His massive body was forced back uncontrollably, retreating seven or eight steps, with every step leaving deep footprint cracks in the hard black stone floor!

The serrated bone saber in his hand buzzed and wailed, its edge chipping in several small places!

"How is this possible?!"

Wu Kui's eyes were filled with unbelievable horror.

He was at the Law Realm Fifth Level, and strength was his forte!

The opponent was only at the Heaven-Reaching Realm Eighth Level!

The moment Di Lingxiao forced Wu Kui back with his spear, two lethal attacks arrived silently!

Several nearly transparent threads, like venomous snakes flicking their tongues, noiselessly wrapped toward Di Lingxiao's neck and limb joints. The poisonous spiders attached to the threads opened their hideous mouthparts!

It was none other than Liu Sanniang's Soul-Binding Poison Silk!

At the same time, three streaks of eerie blue cold light tore through the air, shooting toward Di Lingxiao's back, lower back, and temples respectively!

They carried a bone-chilling cold and poison!

Mo Qi, hidden in the shadows, had made his move!
