209: Chapter 29 The Zerg Must Be Destroyed
At the entrance of the Ockupas Passage, a biomass paradise composed of three thousand abandoned planets was issuing a silent summons to The Swarm.
The surface of every planet was covered in organic matter transformed from Nurgle energy, exuding a rich aura of life. This was the final essence of two-thirds of the origin that the Human Federation had squeezed from that heavily damaged evil god over the course of an entire year.
The Swarm could not resist.
The moment that crimson torrent reached the fork in the passage, it turned toward that paradise without hesitation.
The vanguard of the main swarm—countless Hive Ships, Devourers, and Bio-Titans—poured into that dead zone heavily surrounded by Void Barriers and Nullifier Nodes.
When the last batch of Swarm units entered the trap zone, Alpha-1 issued the command:
"Void Barrier, activate at full power."
"Nullifier Network, Causality Chain Excision Protocol, execute."
Three thousand Void Barriers simultaneously erupted with dark gray light, severing the causal connection between the entire dead zone and the rest of the Galaxy. In that isolated space, The Swarm could not perceive the outside world, nor could the outside world perceive The Swarm.
Twenty thousand Nullifier Nodes locked onto the causality chains between the hive mind and individual Swarm units in the same instant, then excised them.
There was no sound, no explosion, and no phenomenon that could be captured by the senses.
Only that crimson torrent froze in an instant.
Vast numbers of Swarm units lost their connection to consciousness in the same second. Their compound eyes rolled blankly, their tentacles flailed helplessly, and their biological weapons pointed aimlessly into the void.
The hive mind, within that dead zone where the causality chains had been excised, died.
What remained were merely countless soulless beasts with nothing but instinct.
The following eleven months were the craziest hunting season in human history.
The Human Federation Fleet no longer fought; they harvested.
Biomass decomposition clouds deployed by Annihilator-class carriers reduced the corpses of Swarm units into pure organic slurry. Abyss-class supply ships used specialized biomass storage tanks to transport that slurry back to the rear, tank by tank. Source of Order-class battleships were responsible for overseeing the operation, preventing those Swarm units—which were in chaos after losing the hive mind but still possessed instincts—from launching meaningless suicidal counterattacks in desperation.
Each month, the biomass the Human Federation transported out of the dead zone was equivalent to the mass of three thousand planets.
Each month, that biomass was sent to the Pastoral Plan production bases in Extragalactic Systems, where it was transformed into Living Alloy, zero-point energy fuel, and gene-optimization serums.
Each month, The Swarm's numbers, which had once made the Galaxy tremble, dwindled at a visible rate.
Eleven months later, the last Hive Ship in the dead zone, surrounded by Void Barriers, let out a final, silent wail. Its biomass was harvested by the Human Federation, its genetic code was decoded by the Human Federation, and everything about it was turned into resources like its predecessors, injected into the Human Federation's never-ending engine of evolution.
"The main Swarm in the Ockupas Passage is confirmed to be fully cleared," Alpha-1's voice was as calm as if reporting a routine patrol. "Cumulative biomass harvested: approximately thirty-three thousand planetary masses. Genetic samples: covering all evolutionary branches of the main Swarm. hive mind causality chain excision technology: verification successful, applicable to other collective consciousness lifeforms."
"Our losses: thirty-seven Void Barrier nodes destroyed, one hundred and twenty Nullifier Nodes destroyed, approximately three hundred ships lost, and about seventy thousand personnel killed. All losses are within expected parameters."
Han Zhe nodded slowly after listening to the report.
"Biomass of thirty-three thousand planetary masses." His voice carried a hint of subtle satisfaction. "Enough for us to build ten brand-new fleets, enough for us to terraform ten thousand planets, and enough for us to provide gene optimization for trillions of New Humans."
"More importantly—" He pulled up a top-secret file, "We have obtained The Swarm's evolutionary code."
The cover of the file was a summary of The Swarm's core genetic encoding, recently decoded by the adjudicators:
Tyranid Evolutionary Algorithm: A genetic programming model based on a devour-adapt-optimize cycle that can infinitely self-iterate. Its efficiency is one hundred and seventy thousand times that of human gene-editing technology, and its adaptability far exceeds any known biological evolutionary mechanism.
If this algorithm can be fully decoded and mastered, the Human Federation will gain the following capabilities:
1. Targeted Evolution: Within weeks, allow specific populations to evolve physiological traits adapted to specific environments.
2. Weaponized Genes: Use specific genetic sequences as weapons, causing enemies to rapidly degenerate or self-destruct upon contact.
3. Ultimate Application: Combine the evolutionary algorithm with Causality Weapons to achieve directed evolution—not by changing the present, but by rewriting past evolutionary paths, ensuring the enemy never gained the ability to threaten us.
Han Zhe remained silent for a long time.
"We have just ended a natural disaster," he finally spoke, "but the power we have gained may be more dangerous than the disaster itself."
"Orders:"
"One: Research into the Tyranid Evolutionary Algorithm is to be handled entirely by the adjudicators. Security level: Maximum. All experiments must be conducted in an environment of absolute isolation."
"Two: Utilize The Swarm biomass to launch the New Era Fleet Construction Plan. Goal: Expand the Human Federation Fleet's scale thirty-fold within ten years."
"Three: Prepare for Regicide."
His gaze turned toward the only point on the star map not yet covered in dark gold: Holy Terra.
"The Empire's final shield is the Emperor."
"And the Emperor is an existence more complex, more ancient, and more unpredictable than The Swarm."
"But we have The Swarm's evolutionary algorithm. We have the essence fragments of the Chaos Gods. We have the control permissions of the star god law. We have the time technology of the golden age."
"We have the nourishment squeezed from every enemy over the past five hundred years."
He turned to face everyone in the Command Center:
"When our fleet finally arrives at Terra, what the Emperor faces will no longer be a civilization; He will face the sum of everyone defeated in the Galaxy over the last five hundred years."
Outside the window, the dark gold light of the Sea of Order continued to pulse steadily.
And further away, upon the Golden Throne of Holy Terra, that figure that had been burning for ten thousand years seemed to open its eyes in that instant.
He was waiting.
Waiting for that final showdown.
And that day was no longer far off.
