127: Chapter 128 An Unexpected Encounter with a Million-Dollar Bounty

Liang Anfeng had spent years cross-dressing as a man and had never worn girls' clothes.

An Xin's words made the young girl's ears turn as red as small chili peppers.

"Cough, cough, cough, Brother An Xin, you're really good at joking. It would be highly improper for a grown man like me to wear women's clothing. You should find a girl to try on those clothes instead!"

An Xin's gaze fell on Liang Anfeng's flushed ears.

He saw through it but didn't expose her.

Liang Anfeng, who had been speeding all the way, suddenly slowed down.

There were very few vehicles on this road leading to Tiangong Island.

A license-less vehicle appeared ahead of the Hummer.

This suspicious-looking van piqued Liang Anfeng's curiosity.

"Brother An, there's a situation ahead. You said that car looked suspicious; do you think it might be hiding an international fugitive? If I can take this fugitive down, would the police give me five million?"

An Xin scanned Liang Anfeng up and down.

With her build, chasing a suspicious car was very dangerous.

"Don't. If you want to get yourself killed, don't drag me into it. It's better to just call the police when you encounter a car like that."

An Xin didn't have a life to spare to accompany Liang Anfeng in her madness.

"Brother, if there really is a five-million-dollar bounty, let's split it 40/60. I'll take forty percent, and you take sixty percent, how about that?"

"Do you think I'm short on those few million?"

"You're not, but your life lacks excitement. Think about it, if we catch this fugitive, it's a first-class merit. With this first-class merit, getting things done with the higher-ups wouldn't be..."

Liang Anfeng didn't elaborate on the rest, giving An Xin a meaningful look for him to ponder.

An Xin closed his eyes and recalled the scene when he first met Liang Anfeng.

This young girl had ridden a Harley motorcycle into the crowd and pinned the Green Dragon Gang leader to the ground, beating him up.

"Do you have equipment?"

"I do. A bulletproof vest, a stun baton, homemade smoke grenades, and pepper spray. To tell you the truth, I was cut out for the military, but I'm the only child in my family line. For the sake of my family, I had to give up my dream of joining the army."

"Fine, then stay safe."

With the system to back it up, An Xin wouldn't be in mortal danger while chasing the five-million-dollar bounty.

Since Liang Anfeng was so well-prepared, it would be tactless of her to back out now.

Go!

[Ding! Congratulations to the Host for triggering a new mission!]

[Successfully capturing an S-class fugitive rewards three million system points!]

An Xin, who had originally just wanted to slack off, was instantly motivated to catch the bad guy by the system's reward.

"Liang Anfeng, follow closely. Don't lose them."

"I've self-studied counter-surveillance. I have the ability to tail a car. I'm keeping my distance now because I don't want to attract their attention."

Since Liang Anfeng had said so, An Xin didn't urge her any further.

The vehicle turned left at the T-junction onto an unpaved dirt road.

Liang Anfeng slowed down, and after tailing them for half an hour, the vehicle finally stopped.

The car stopped at the end of the dirt road, in front of the Qingshan Coal Mine District 12, a mining area that had been abandoned for thirty years.

The "Danger, Keep Out" sign was rusted and hung shakily on a dead poplar tree.

Liang Anfeng hid the Hummer in the woods.

An Xin followed closely in Liang Anfeng's footsteps, and the two of them crept toward the van's base bit by bit.

The two of them reached the van.

The van was empty, but when they reached near the exhaust pipe, they could still feel the heat.

The engine had just been turned off.

Besides mountains, rocks, and trees, there was nowhere else to hide.

An Xin looked around but didn't see anyone.

"Brother An Xin, I found their tracks."

Liang Anfeng excitedly held up a woman's wallet.

An Xin had seen this wallet on the plane.

This was Qiao Xixi's wallet.

An Xin had a deep impression of Qiao Xixi.

"Quick, check if the ID photo is still there. Is the name on the ID card Qiao Xixi?"

"Brother An Xin, you're amazing. The owner of this wallet really is named Qiao Xixi. When did you learn fortune-telling? Teach me!"

"I didn't guess it. This girl and I were on the same flight."

"You remember her name so clearly; do you two have a story?"

"There's no story, you ghost. Hurry up and find them. Don't you want your five-million-dollar bounty?"

An Xin glared at Liang Anfeng, who put away her playful expression and quickly entered detective mode.

After searching for a few minutes, An Xin was the first to discover a passage hidden underground.

"There's a secret door here."

"I have one here too. My secret door seems to be for ventilation. Brother, the secret door you found isn't a ventilation shaft, is it?"

"It's 1.5 meters wide, so it probably isn't a ventilation shaft."

"Brother, don't move. I'll go over and check it out now."

Liang Anfeng hurried over and grabbed the dirt covering the secret door.

"This dirt was newly placed; this is definitely the entrance. Let's not rush down just yet. Let me find the other exits and block them before we go down, so the five-million-dollar bounty doesn't run away."

Liang Anfeng had An Xin guard the entrance while she began to patrol the mining area.

Liang Anfeng said she had studied reconnaissance, and she really hadn't lied. In less than ten minutes, she found a new secret door.

Liang Anfeng stuck branches on the secret door. An Xin blocked one, and she blocked another.

The two worked together, and the task was completed quickly.

"Are we going down now?"

"Brother, use the black cloth to block the light. I'll use the detection scope to check the situation inside."

Liang Anfeng took a piece of black cloth from her cargo pants pocket and handed it to An Xin. She then reached into her left pocket and pulled out a curved observation scope.

Liang Anfeng inserted the lens into the lifted wooden board, lay on the ground, and observed the underground environment by the faint light.

"It's a mine tunnel. No one is standing guard. We can go down."

Confirming it was safe, the two stopped hesitating.

Liang Anfeng sent a text message to the security company, asking the security manager for one hundred retired soldiers.

"Brother, don't worry, I've called for backup. The five million won't get away."

After saying that, Liang Anfeng lifted the secret door and jumped down.

Her movements were agile; she landed as steadily as a cat, without making a sound.

An Xin followed Liang Anfeng's movements as he landed, but accidentally stepped on an empty soda can.

Their nerves tightened instantly.

Liang Anfeng reacted quickly. This was a coal mine tunnel filled with black coal slag, so she quickly covered the two of them with the black cloth.

The sentry, hearing the noise, flashed his flashlight at the entrance twice but didn't see anyone.

"Damn rats scurrying everywhere again, scared the hell out of me."

The patrolling sentry cursed, then walked away while swinging his flashlight.

An Xin turned his head to look at Liang Anfeng.

"You're quite well-equipped."

"I'm a serious military enthusiast; this is standard configuration."

Liang Anfeng's hand reached into her pocket once again. This time, she pulled out two pairs of night-vision goggles.

"Put these on to make travel easier."

The two put on the night-vision goggles and laid low at the entrance for ten minutes.

Not hearing any more voices, they lifted their feet and walked inside.
