32: Section 32
It also left the little angel lady in awe of his god-like talent, constantly questioning her very existence.
Closing the personal status panel.
Su Ming took off his crimson guard for the first time. Since his level couldn't increase, it was no longer appropriate to blindly pursue monster-slaying efficiency just to earn class experience.
Without the sense of security provided by the crimson guard armor,
Su Ming felt a surge of hot blood instead.
Was he not worried about accidents?
Don't be ridiculous. The prototype of the crimson guard was black-tech armor, a high-grade custom item tailored specifically for Su Ming by the little angel ladies based on his situation.
Portability, reliability, and sheer durability were its foundations.
Rapid deployment and modular detachment were its true nature!
If he truly encountered an invincible existence, with just a thought, he could instantly transform into a mechanical powerhouse—the kind that would make Tony Stark feel depressed and Warhammer fanatics drool!
Furthermore,
No matter how badass the crimson guard was, it was still an external object.
He hadn't forgotten that Cruel Ascension possessed the special function of digesting bloodline modules!
Backed by the original slaughter concept, even if he couldn't level up for now, it didn't stop him from using all sorts of cheats.
Putting on the long-neglected Divination Robe and donning the Female Spider Chitin Breastplate,
Su Ming shouldered his bristle-tusk spear and turned to leave.
Target: Raven Hill and its surrounding grinding spots.
Wisps of black mist enveloped Su Ming as arcs of crimson lightning scattered incessantly. Within a few blinks, Su Ming had transformed into a Dark Erosion Spider Demon.
His eight long legs strode across the messy ground as if it were level terrain.
Behind him,
Invisible ripples undulated.
Wherever he passed, severed limbs of flesh, spiderwebs covering the ground, broken trees, and fallen rocks disappeared one by one.
Inside Su Ming's inventory, massive amounts of resources piled up out of thin air, automatically categorized.
This was the style that a Level 7 Gathering skill should have.
It was no longer just a simple skill, but had evolved into a sort of area-of-effect field anchored to the rules of Gathering!
If Su Ming truly let himself go, describing his path as 'stripping the land bare' would be an understatement!
Essentially, for unowned objects, their macroscopic structural integrity would inevitably collapse. The basic elements constituting the matter would be forcibly extracted and converted into elemental substances, then sorted into his inventory space!
Moyi once sharply commented:
"This isn't Gathering; this is clearly plundering!"
Su Ming deeply agreed.
To avoid being labeled as some demonic heretic, Su Ming had actively placed restrictions on it.
He only gathered what was useful to him.
Don't ask what's useful.
If you ask, it's a Level 7 Gathering skill; it should have learned to distinguish for itself, dear!
...
A sharp whistling sound pierced the air. In the mist-shrouded sky, a dark shadow dove down in a gliding posture.
The bristle-tusk spear swept across the air.
Clang! —
Amidst the sound of clashing metal, that massive dark shadow stumbled.
Its door-sized wings flapped wildly. Just as it stabilized its flight, the sudden predator swerved the next second, screeching as it circled half a turn in mid-air, heading straight for Su Ming's back.
Whoosh! —
A translucent spiderweb was cast out.
The massive body of the Giant Night Bat was accurately captured.
With a hard tug from Su Ming, this uninvited predator crashed onto the ground in front of him with a thud.
The spear thrust repeatedly, the sound of breaking air rolling outward.
By the time Su Ming stopped,
The Giant Night Bat was riddled with over a dozen bloody holes.
[Ding! —]
[Giant Night Bat has died!]
[Congratulations, you have obtained: Class EXP +78, Poison Fangs *2, Bat Eyeballs *4!]
With a flick of his spear, he flipped the Giant Night Bat's corpse over.
Emmm...
On its mouse-like face, there were indeed four bloody, empty sockets.
"Tsk, it looks quite abstract. However, it gives a decent amount of experience."
He glanced at the surrounding oak forest enveloped in thick fog; visibility was less than twenty meters.
Further away, tree shadows loomed in the depths of the mist. As a light breeze brushed past, the rustling of leaves sounded like the whispers of unknown creatures.
Simultaneously,
Su Ming's high Inspiration of 20 points told him,
At this very moment, dozens of gazes were locked onto him from all directions.
No!
It shouldn't be gazes.
Strictly speaking, it was a predator's lock-on toward its prey.
Su Ming curled his lip and muttered:
"They're called Night Bats, so why are they so aggressive in broad daylight..."
Flap flap! —
The sound of wings beating against the air suddenly tore through the silence of the forest.
As the first dark shadow glided down from the top of an oak tree, it was as if a hornet's nest had been stirred; more and more Giant Night Bats swarmed out.
They turned into a massive shadow that blotted out the sky,
And then dove down without hesitation!
"WTF!"
Cursing under his breath, Su Ming hurriedly moved his eight long legs. Using an ancient tree several men thick as a natural shield, he was forced to start playing 'hide and seek' around the trunk.
He wasn't currently equipped with the crimson guard armor.
There was nothing wrong with being a bit cautious.
The bristle-tusk spear danced wildly under Su Ming's command,
Knocking aside the pounces of the Giant Night Bats or guiding them to collide with each other to stall their offensive.
With the ancient tree as natural cover, Su Ming successfully reached a stalemate with the bat swarm.
At a certain moment, Su Ming let out a wicked grin.
The time has come!
Dark Erosion Domain—Activate!
Abyssal demonic energy spread out like ripples, quickly enveloping a twenty-meter radius around him.
The area-of-effect flight suppression took effect, and the Giant Night Bats fell to the ground one after another like they had lost control!
Su Ming leaped into the air, curling his body into a ball.
The next instant,
Demon Spider Transformation—Activate!
Black light surged. The moment he landed, Su Ming had transformed into a Giant Demon Spider the size of a house!
With eight limbs as thick as marble pillars, every step and every stomp resulted in a splash of bloody gore!
The sounds of bursting flesh were incessant.
Wisps of deep, dark cursed aura filled every gap between the Giant Demon Spider's lethal attacks.
With every life extinguished, the curse effect inherent to the Dark Erosion Domain would trigger. The souls of the dead were forcibly extracted and then rapidly mutated into Ethereal Spider Silks dancing around the Giant Demon Spider!
Chapter 37: The Spider with 36 Legs
Puff! —
The invisible Ethereal Spider Silk crossed a distance of twenty meters and stuck to the body of the last Giant Night Bat.
Silk Retraction!
The Giant Night Bat was pulled flying back.
Puchi! —
The bristle-tusk spear seized the opportunity to thrust out like lightning, piercing through the Giant Night Bat's head.
With a casual shake, he tossed the corpse, weighing several hundred pounds, onto the ground.
And so,
The swarm of Night Bats, who had been full of morning grumpiness, fell into an eternal, infant-like sleep... Emmm, this time, no one would disturb their slumber.
The battle ended.
Su Ming was just about to deactivate his transformation...
Maintaining the Giant Demon Spider Transformation consumed a lot of energy.
But suddenly, Su Ming thought of something.
The Ethereal Spider Silk was essentially formed from the mutated souls of the dead. Its existence was entirely created by the combination of the Dark Erosion Domain and the Demon Spider Transformation.
This meant that if either the Dark Erosion Domain or the Demon Spider Transformation were missing,
The foundation upon which the Ethereal Spider Silk relied would inevitably be shaken!
It was highly likely it would naturally dissipate!
"That won't do!"
Wouldn't that be like letting his labor go to waste for nothing?
It was time to craft something by hand!
"As a temporary abnormal phenomenon, the Ethereal Spider Silk won't work without a physical foundation to carry it!"
"Merge it into regular spider silk?"
"Would that be a bit too monotonous?"
Su Ming pondered inwardly, rummaging through his inventory, but ultimately failed to find any suitable materials.
He looked down.
The Female Spider Carapace (Breastplate) happened to catch his eye.
Su Ming's eyes lit up.
As a blue-grade equipment dropped by the mother spider, this thing was naturally compatible with the Ethereal Spider Silk.
Perfect.
He had grown accustomed to the high bonuses of the crimson guard.
