247: Chapter 247 Heart-to-Heart Talk

The two of them chatted as they walked, arriving at a large seafood restaurant.

Yang Mi ordered a flurry of dishes.

"Sister Mimi, are there a lot of people coming? Why did you order so much?"

Chen Shaoping asked, puzzled.

"No, only Mengmeng will be here in a bit. It's just the three of us."

"It's not much; you have to believe in our combat capabilities."

After Yang Mi finished speaking, she started scrolling through videos.

The surroundings became increasingly crowded. Chen Shaoping saw several male actors coming over to eat as well, and they even started drinking.

Before the ordered seafood even arrived, Yang Mengmeng showed up.

She was wearing simple casual clothes and a white hat.

She looked like someone out for an evening jog.

She saw that Chen Shaoping was there too.

First came a look of surprise, followed by a direct hug.

"Brother, thank you!" Yang Mengmeng said softly.

"I didn't come specifically to see you, so don't thank me too early!"

Chen Shaoping gave a chuckle.

"Junjun told me everything; he said you saved his life," Yang Mengmeng added.

Chen Shaoping finally understood and marveled inwardly at how quickly things were progressing between those two.

"Junjun? Who is Junjun?"

Chen Shaoping asked with a smile, intending to tease Yang Mengmeng.

"Brother, you're so annoying! I'm ignoring you!"

Yang Mengmeng's face turned slightly red as she let go of Chen Shaoping and gave him a glare.

"Does your mother know about you and Tian Jun? Can Tian Jun pass her test?"

Chen Shaoping looked at Yang Mengmeng with a serious expression and questioned her.

He had no objection at all to the two of them dating.

Of course, it wasn't his place to have an opinion anyway.

But he feared Yang Mengmeng's mother might object. As for Tian Jun's parents, he knew a bit about them.

They certainly wouldn't interfere.

Seeing Chen Shaoping's expression, Yang Mengmeng took a breath and asked tentatively,

"Brother, did you investigate me?"

"No, but I know about your family's situation," Chen Shaoping answered truthfully.

Beside them, Yang Mi listened to their conversation, which sounded like riddles she couldn't understand.

"What are you two talking about? I'm getting more and more confused the more I listen."

"Brother, then how did you find out?"

Yang Mengmeng thought for a moment; she didn't seem to have left any clues.

"With the movie getting such a high screening rate, how could I not look for the reason?"

Chen Shaoping replied calmly.

Seeing the two of them ignoring her, Yang Mi decisively stood up and walked toward the restaurant's server.

"You guys keep chatting; I'm going to go push for our food."

Yang Mengmeng suddenly understood and praised him with a smile, "Brother, Junjun said your intelligence is both plentiful and accurate. Now I believe it."

"Don't worry. Although I haven't told my mom about me and Junjun yet, she definitely won't object."

"In this life, I've got her wrapped around my finger. Who let her be my mom?"

"If you put it that way, then I'm relieved."

After saying this, Chen Shaoping looked at Yang Mengmeng and said incredulously, "I never would have imagined that someone I saved at random would turn out to be a rich second-generation heir."

"And that fellow Tian Jun got the bargain."

"Heehee!"

Yang Mengmeng gave a sweet smile. "Brother, are you regretting it? Who told you to shout 'sister' when you rushed in to beat up Zhu Dongning?"

"If you had shouted 'girlfriend,' maybe you would've had a chance."

When Yang Mengmeng brought this up, Chen Shaoping also became interested and raised an eyebrow.

"Do you know why I said that at the time?"

"Why?"

Yang Mengmeng moved her stool, intentionally leaning closer to Chen Shaoping to hear more clearly.

"I was thinking very simply at the time. By shouting that, I could have a legitimate reason to beat up Zhu Dongning. That grandson was too hateful."

"I didn't expect to luckily pick up a sister as well."

"However, I'm still not as lucky as that kid Tian Jun; he picked up a wife."

Chen Shaoping had a perfectly measured expression of envy on his face.

"I thought you shouted that because you mistook me for someone else," Yang Mengmeng said after hearing this, looking somewhat disappointed.

"Coming through, make way!" Under Yang Mi's urging, the server arrived with the seafood they had ordered.

Yang Mengmeng, who had been a bit depressed, immediately cheered up upon seeing so much delicious food.

"Eat quickly. After we finish, I'll take you to see a show," Chen Shaoping said.

"A show? What show?" Yang Mi was confused.

Yang Mengmeng chewed on a crab leg, her eyes fixed on Chen Shaoping.

"I guarantee it'll be good! Hurry up and eat."

Meanwhile.

In Hang City, Cai Guoqiang also happened to be eating.

"Old Cai, you came to Hang City and didn't tell me sooner. This drink should have been at my house."

An old man was very warm upon seeing Cai Guoqiang; the two were about the same age.

"Huang Danian, I've been waiting for you for ages. I have something to discuss with you."

"If the matter is settled, going to your house for a drink is no problem. If it's not, I'm leaving immediately, and we won't be in touch anymore."

Huang Danian gave a laugh, sat down, and took the teacup Cai Guoqiang handed him.

He took a sip before saying, "According to you, I have to agree whether I want to or not?"

"Tell me, what do you need from me?"

The two were old friends of many years and old classmates; they knew each other inside out.

The more anxious Cai Guoqiang was, the more Huang Danian had to stay steady; he couldn't let himself be led into a trap.

"What do you mean I'm asking you? After you see it, you'll be the one asking me."

Cai Guoqiang retorted with a glare.

He immediately sent the script for 'the legend of the new white snake' to Huang Danian.

"Take a quick look at it first. I'm going to eat."

Huang Danian didn't say anything. Following Cai Guoqiang's suggestion, he began to read while sipping his tea.

Cai Guoqiang wasn't polite either; he really didn't wait, picking up his chopsticks and starting to eat on his own.

It seemed such things were normal to both of them.

Occasionally, Huang Danian would blurt out, "Don't eat all that West Lake Vinegar Fish; leave some for me."

...

Under Chen Shaoping's urging, the three of them hurried toward the hotel.

The dim yellow streetlights stretched their shadows long.

"Brother, can we walk a bit slower? I'm too full; I really can't walk anymore."

Yang Mengmeng bent over, panting as she spoke to Chen Shaoping, who was walking ahead.

Yang Mi was equally dissatisfied, complaining breathlessly.

"I need to walk slower too, just to help with digestion."

Chen Shaoping checked the time; there were only ten minutes left. If they delayed any longer, he feared Wang Bo would make a move.

After all, he and Li Qian really hadn't seen each other for a while.

He was probably feeling pretty pent up.

He was also very conflicted right now, only hoping that Wang Bo wouldn't let him down.

"Fine! If you miss the good show, just don't blame me."

"Bye-bye, you two."

Chen Shaoping didn't try to persuade them further but turned and left, even picking up his pace.

"Hey! Wait for us!"

Yang Mi called out, then said to Yang Mengmeng, "Come on, keep up. If the show isn't good, we'll deal with him later."

"Alright. If I'd known, I would've eaten less just now."

Chen Shaoping arrived at the hotel, made up an excuse to get a room card, and waited anxiously for the elevator while looking at the video on his phone.

He kept muttering in his heart, "Hurry up, hurry up."

The elevator finally arrived. Once the doors opened, he slipped inside.

The voices of Yang Mengmeng and Yang Mi came from behind him.

"Wait a minute, wait for us!"
