107: I dare not like
After Shen Lian left Star Opening, he first went to a flower shop. This time he didn't pick and choose; he went straight for ninety-nine roses, asking the owner to tie them up beautifully. Then he went to a luxury store to pick up the watch he had pre-ordered.
Once everything was ready, he also bought some desserts and hot tea, and finally headed to Hengtai.
Shen Lian contacted Sun Binghe first; this person was fast at arranging anything.
When such a large bouquet of roses came out of the back seat, Sun Binghe's eyes widened slightly. No way, the honeymoon phase isn't over yet?
Shen Lian had just used the studio's stylist and had high requirements, so from his hair to the soles of his feet, he was meticulous.
Sun Binghe squinted and pondered for a moment, but couldn't figure out why.
As if seeing his confusion, Shen Lian stepped forward and took the initiative to say, "I want to take a role in a movie."
Sun Binghe showed a look of sudden realization.
"Does this outfit look handsome?" Shen Lian asked.
From the perspective of a normal person's aesthetic, Sun Binghe nodded: "It looks good."
"OK." Shen Lian straightened his back. "Sugar-coated bullets always succeed."
To this, Sun Binghe countered slightly: "Teacher Shen, I think... even if you didn't prepare so meticulously, just a few nice words and the Boss would agree."
"Pestering him would definitely work," Shen Lian replied. "But it's different. Making him even happier is better."
Sun Binghe chuckled: "You really dote on the Boss."
Shen Lian: "He dotes on me too."
As soon as the elevator doors opened, the roses in Shen Lian's arms blocked his face. Yang Bin saw Sun Binghe first and blurted out: "One of the shirt sizes you sent last night was wrong, too big. Good grief... there's no need! Just because you bought the wrong shirt, you're apologizing with roses? Between us..."
Sun Binghe rolled his eyes.
The next second, Shen Lian poked his head out from the side with an interested look, gesturing for Yang Bin to continue.
Yang Bin: "..."
He was just talking big.
"Ignore him," Sun Binghe said. "Teacher Shen, let's go."
Once they were further away, Shen Lian asked Sun Binghe, "Do you guys buy shirts for each other?"
"I'm the one who gives them to him," Sun Binghe said candidly. "Back when I didn't have enough to eat or wear, Yang Bin helped me a lot."
Shen Lian understood.
Chu Yilan had just finished a meeting and was leaning back in his chair with his eyes closed to rest. Hearing movement, he looked up and was met with a large expanse of fiery red roses.
Shen Lian found it quite difficult to hold them. Sun Binghe had offered to help earlier, but he had politely declined; it had to be done by himself to show sincerity.
Seeing it was Shen Lian, a smile appeared on Chu Yilan's face. He let the man place the roses on the table and stand there panting for half a minute. Then, like showing off a treasure, Shen Lian took a high-quality solid wood box out of his pocket. It was larger than a fist, and it took Shen Lian several tries to get it out. He opened it and approached; it was a white wristwatch, worth about a hundred thousand or so based on the brand.
Chu Yilan raised an eyebrow: "Are you trying to go broke? How much money have you even made?"
Shen Lian almost choked.
"Boss," Sun Binghe corrected in a low voice, "Mr. Shen's income from his upcoming variety show recordings and commercial shoots is quite substantial."
Shen Lian gave a soft huff.
Chu Yilan coughed and picked up the watch to play with it.
Shen Lian: "Do you like it?"
Chu Yilan: "I don't dare to like it."
"Hmm?"
"What are you planning?" Chu Yilan said. "Do I need to say the second half of the phrase 'offering courtesy for no reason'?"
Sun Binghe immediately backed out and considerately closed the office door.
Shen Lian stepped forward and hugged Chu Yilan, straddling the man's lap and wrapping his arms around his neck while whimpering: "There's a script that's really good. You know Director Liu Zong, right? The director of 'Infinite,' he's amazing. Brother Hu worked hard to get it for me."
Chu Yilan was good at catching the key points: "What's the genre?"
"Police and bandits..."
Chu Yilan: "You've just recovered a bit, and you want to go film action scenes?"
"There aren't many action scenes," Shen Lian emphasized, then kept rubbing against Chu Yilan's neck. "Please, just say yes, Master Chu. I really want to act, I even dream about it!"
Chu Yilan's expression softened. He hadn't intended to cut off Shen Lian's acting career back then, and the man had clearly said he liked it.
Shen Lian's breath puffed against his earlobe, bringing a tingling sensation along with the word: "Hubby..."
Chu Yilan: "?"
The watch almost slipped to the floor. Chu Yilan caught it, placed it on the table, and then carried Shen Lian into the side room.
"Slow down, I just got my hair styled!" Shen Lian suppressed a laugh.
It was useless. Chu Yilan used his actions to prove to Shen Lian that one must bear the consequences of what they say.
When Yang Bin wanted to look for Chu Yilan again, he was stopped by Sun Binghe.
"I just checked inside, he's not there."
"He left?"
"The side room." Sun Binghe's voice dropped lower. "Teacher Shen should be getting what he wished for."
Shen Lian didn't know how many times he had called out "Hubby." He had started it just for fun to tease Chu Yilan; he had never actually called him that in bed before. Who knew Chu Yilan would react so strongly?
When it was over, Shen Lian lay on the bed like a dead dog, while the wind whistled outside again.
"You win." Chu Yilan looked satisfied, but his tone sounded as if he had made a huge concession. "Go ahead and film. As long as you're careful not to get hurt, I won't be angry."
Shen Lian mustered the strength to give him a kick.
Chu Yilan had one more condition: filming was fine, but Sun Binghe had to keep an eye on him.
Special Assistant Sun raised an eyebrow when he got the news, and then the smile on his lips expanded like ripples until it became uncontrollable.
Hehe!
No need to face idiotic business partners, no need to handle tedious official business. He only needed to watch Teacher Shen perform normally and protect his safety. For the same salary, he'd save ten times the mental effort. Special Assistant Sun really loved this job!
Sun Binghe comforted Yang Bin: "Don't be envious. When you're as powerful as I am, you'll also be able to take on this heavy responsibility."
Yang Bin laughed in frustration: "Get lost!"
Yang Bin had once said these words to Sun Binghe. At that time, he was still the only special assistant, and Hengtai was far from being as stable as it was now, with constant ups and downs.
Whenever Sun Binghe was about to break into a cold sweat for them, Yang Bin and Chu Yilan could always rely on their extremely calm temperaments and ruthless methods to achieve final victory.
Sun Binghe watched with eagerness and great admiration, so Yang Bin comforted him: "Don't be envious. When you're as powerful as I am, you'll be able to take on this heavy responsibility."
Before joining the cast, there was still an audition. Once the date was set, he just needed to arrive at the soundstage on time.
Coincidentally, Li Yi's father fell ill, so Shen Lian gave him a long leave and let Sun Binghe fill in.
Not just Li Yi's position—Sun Binghe could probably replace an entire studio.
Anyway, when he strolled out of Shen Lian's studio, his expression wasn't exactly satisfied; it was predictably unremarkable.
Kuang Chenghai came out of the planning department opposite, beaming. He smiled whenever he saw Shen Lian, as if Shen Lian had already grown into a towering money tree.
The next second, he saw Sun Binghe. Kuang Chenghai turned and left immediately, moving so fast that he slammed into the glass door with a "thud," hurting his nose.
A group of people cried out, "CEO Kuang!" Shen Lian wanted to provide some cover to save Kuang Chenghai's face as the top star of Star Opening, but then he heard a sneer from Sun Binghe behind him.
