95: There's nothing to talk about with you.
Shen Lian put away his phone and turned around, intending to head back.
Coincidentally, a group of people emerged from the main entrance of this building. They were mostly over thirty, with only the occasional young face, pressing forward like a heavy black cloud.
Shen Lian glanced over and recognized several of them by their attire; they were the group that had caught his eye while he was in the sightseeing elevator.
Since he didn't know any of them, Shen Lian naturally didn't bother greeting them.
But he had only taken a few steps when he caught sight of several Bodyguards in black running toward him from the corner of his eye, and the next second, he was blocked.
Shen Lian stopped in his tracks, his expression indifferent.
As the sound of footsteps approached, he turned his head.
The newcomer wore a grey and white casual outfit with white sneakers. He was pot-bellied, clearly well-fed; from the front, his ears almost disappeared, and he squinted with a smile like a Maitreya Buddha, but Shen Lian felt extremely uncomfortable.
It was as if this appearance was just a piece of human skin loosely draped over flesh; one tug, and you'd see a bloody, sharp interior. Those seemingly harmless eyes were actually half-closed to hide overflowing desire and greed.
Even with the sun shining brightly, Shen Lian felt as if the man was steeped in shadow.
“Teacher Shen, right?” the man spoke. He smiled, appearing somewhat awkward and shy, even lightly wiping his hands before extending one. “My name is Jin Lei. I'm a fan of yours.”
Shen Lian was usually tolerant of fans, but at this moment, he had no intention of shaking hands.
Jin Lei waited for a few seconds, then sheepishly withdrew his hand. He wasn't annoyed, only saying, “I was being presumptuous.”
Shen Lian nodded, indicating that he indeed was, and then said, “Excuse me.”
But the Bodyguards blocking his path didn't budge an inch.
Shen Lian took a shallow breath; encountering this kind of thing while out was very annoying.
Jin Lei continued cheerfully, “Teacher Shen, I'd like to invite you to sit for a bit. It won't take long! Just a few minutes!”
Shen Lian wasn't foolish enough to fight three brawny Bodyguards; Sun Binghe would bound to notice this.
After a moment's thought, Shen Lian walked toward a chair.
Jin Lei immediately ordered his men to serve tea.
Shen Lian sat down, crossing his right leg over his left, his impatience unconcealed. He wasn't being rude; it was just a rare instance where his entire being was in resistance.
Shen Lian wasn't afraid; he just didn't understand, as this was clearly the first time he had met Jin Lei.
Until Jin Lei appeared behind Shen Lian.
The hairs on the back of his neck stood up. Shen Lian said softly, “Does Mr. Jin have a habit of standing behind others?”
“No, no,” Jin Lei said, moving to the seat next to Shen Lian.
This old geezer... Shen Lian didn't even need to look back to imagine the other's obsessed and greedy expression.
“Mr. Shen's new drama, ‘silent no more’, I like it very much. I've clipped all your scenes and sometimes watch them over a dozen times.” Jin Lei's words were full of praise, but Shen Lian felt a wave of disgust.
“The tea is here.” A young man placed two cups on the table, though he wasn't a waiter.
Shen Lian glanced sideways; he didn't recognize him. However, among the figures at the back, he saw a familiar face. Shen Lian thought for a moment and made the connection—wasn't this one of the business partners talking to Sun Binghe when he went to Hengtai to find Chu Yilan and was coming down?
Shen Lian remained impassive and naturally wouldn't drink the tea.
The young man serving the tea couldn't help himself and softly urged, “This is top-quality Xue Cui. Teacher Shen, please have a taste.”
Shen Lian even detected a hint of jealousy in his tone.
Seriously, brother, you're really not picky. Even if Jin Lei is rich, shouldn't someone of your type have some integrity?
“I don't want to drink it,” Shen Lian said softly. “I've been sitting here for two minutes.”
“Teacher Shen,” the young man's face turned cold, “President Jin usually doesn't serve this tea to guests.”
Jin Lei remained ever cheerful and didn't chime in.
“Is it good?” Shen Lian looked up at the young man.
Meeting Shen Lian's gaze, the young man's pupils trembled slightly, but he quickly steadied himself. After all, they had more people, and Shen Lian was alone. After glancing at Jin Lei, he became smug. “Why doesn't Teacher Shen just try it and see?”
“Bring it to me,” Shen Lian said.
The young man took a deep breath, unhappy that Shen Lian was ordering him around.
The tea was brought before Shen Lian. He took it, brought it to his nose to sniff, and raised an eyebrow. “It really is fragrant.”
“Of course,” the young man sneered. “This is... Ah!”
Shen Lian's right hand was as fast as lightning. He turned and grabbed the man's collar, yanking him forward and slamming him onto the table with a heavy thud. The next second, he poured all the tea down the man's throat, regardless of whether he spat it out or not. Shen Lian's eyes were cold. “Didn't your mother teach you not to touch things given by strangers when you're out?”
The Bodyguards immediately moved to act against Shen Lian, but Shen Lian said nothing, only looking coldly at Jin Lei.
“Don't move,” Jin Lei ordered.
Unseen by anyone, Jin Lei's hands on his knees were trembling slightly.
Fantastic. Such a sublime face was mesmerizing from head to toe. Even those amorous eyes looked like they were throwing a tantrum when glaring. More importantly, he had a straightforward temper and wouldn't tolerate the slightest grievance. Jin Lei couldn't imagine how satisfying it would be to conquer Shen Lian.
Shen Lian wanted to gouge Jin Lei's eyes out.
In that short time, Shen Lian had forced the entire cup of tea down the young man's throat.
In less than two minutes, the young man's eyes began to glaze over. With a soft groan, he collapsed to the ground as if he had no bones.
Shen Lian snorted coldly. To think they wanted to use such underhanded tricks on him.
Jin Lei hurriedly said, “I'm sorry, Teacher Shen. It was my poor hospitality. We can...”
“No need.” Shen Lian stood up and pulled over the tablecloth to wipe his hands. “There's nothing to talk about between us.”
The Bodyguards stepped forward, but Shen Lian laughed. “Do you think you can do anything to me?”
Just as he finished speaking, “Thud, thud, thud!”
The iron mesh fence was struck heavily.
Sun Binghe arrived with Kuang Chenghai and several executives, followed by a dozen Bodyguards, instantly outnumbering Jin Lei's group.
Sun Binghe was still holding a golf club, looking steady and gentle, but Shen Lian had no doubt that Sun Binghe would swing it at someone's head in the next second.
“Teacher Shen, a friend of yours?” Sun Binghe asked.
Shen Lian: “My taste isn't that bad, Assistant Sun.”
Jin Lei's cheerful expression cracked for a moment.
He had used those underhanded methods to get countless people. Of course, the terms he offered afterward were enough to make them agree. But after conquering them, only emptiness remained; it was boring.
But Shen Lian, whom he finally found interesting, was now looking at him like he was a piece of shit.
“Get lost,” Sun Binghe said softly. “Otherwise, I guarantee none of you will leave this club safely today.”
“That one,” Shen Lian pointed to a man at the very back who was about to slip away. “Is he a business partner of Hengtai? I remember you personally attended to him.”
As soon as he said this, the atmosphere changed abruptly.
Sun Binghe followed the direction Shen Lian pointed, and his gaze instantly turned cold.
No one expected that in such a situation, Shen Lian would be able to pick someone out.
