67: you say!!!
Only two or three people heard those words, and Yang Bin was one of them.
Special Assistant Yang felt a surge of blood rush straight to his brain. He turned abruptly and strode forward to pin down Wei Fanchen.
"What are you doing?!" Wei Fanchen was practically screaming.
Yang Bin called out to his men, "Take him away!"
Wei Fanchen couldn't escape even if he had wings.
Feng Yueshan was also startled by Shen Lian's sudden condition. "What's wrong?"
Shen Lian waved his hand, but he didn't have the strength to speak.
Wait, is recovering memories always this painful?
"To the hospital," Chu Yilan said in a deep voice.
Shen Lian didn't object. He was covered in a cold sweat and his legs felt weak. He forced himself to walk to the elevator, and only when there were few people around did he feel comfortable leaning his full weight on Chu Yilan.
Chu Yilan picked him up and carried him. Yang Bin, as always, ran ahead to clear the way.
Halfway through the car ride, a natural breeze blew in through a crack in the window. Shen Lian slowly opened his eyes, took Chu Yilan's hand, and whispered, "I'm fine now."
"How many days have you been feeling unwell?"
Shen Lian looked up and saw the man's face was grim. He explained, "It was just that one moment, really. I hadn't remembered anything before that."
Chu Yilan didn't want to recall the scene from just now. When Shen Lian suddenly closed his eyes and threw his head back, falling into his arms without any reaction, Chu Yilan's blood had frozen. Even now, his muscles were still tense.
"Alright, don't talk," Chu Yilan's voice softened.
Ning Sixian wasn't at the hospital, but a single order was enough. After a series of examinations, there were no major issues. The attending physician said it might be a stress response after the brain was suddenly stimulated.
Shen Lian leaned against the headboard inhaling oxygen, with Chu Yilan staying by his side.
Once everything was settled, Yang Bin found a quiet corner, took a deep breath, and pulled out his phone.
The phone rang several times before it was picked up.
"Are you timing this?" Sun Binghe's voice was cold. "It's the mid-meeting break, I was just about to head out to the restroom."
Yang Bin cleared his throat.
Sun Binghe waited for two seconds, but there was still no sound from the other end. He stopped in his tracks, his expression becoming serious. "What happened?"
Yang Bin's professional skills were stronger than Sun Binghe's. When Sun Binghe was still an ordinary assistant, Yang Bin had taken him under his wing and trained him personally. However, when it came to matters outside of work, Sun Binghe was the true all-around expert.
Yang Bin lowered his voice: "Young Master Feng hosted a banquet today, as you know. It just so happened to be Zheng Ge's birthday, and he tried to snatch our venue."
Sun Binghe felt annoyed just hearing the name 'Zheng Ge'. "What did he do this time? Did he go to the Boss all pitifully to talk about how hard things have been lately?"
"He didn't get the chance," Yang Bin said. "Zheng Ge and Mr. Shen didn't have a pleasant chat. He tried to stage a scene where he fell to frame Mr. Shen, but it didn't work out because Mr. Shen didn't cooperate and almost hit him!"
Sun Binghe's brain, previously filled with boredom, instantly perked up.
"Then Zhou Tangsi arrived just in time, shouting and hollering, but it was useless!" Yang Bin's tone grew increasingly urgent. "Brother, guess what happened? You'll never be able to guess!"
Sun Binghe felt an urge to hit someone. "Speak up!!!"
"CEO Chu beat up Zhou Tangsi! Wow! He kicked him two miles away, then stepped right on Zhou Tangsi's face!" Yang Bin's hair stood on end with excitement just remembering the scene. "Zhou Tangsi wouldn't back down, so CEO Chu kept going until he beat him into submission! You should have seen Zhou Tangsi when the Bodyguards helped him away. It was so satisfying!"
Sun Binghe accidentally snapped off the protective corner of a decorative painting on the wall.
"That's not all!" Yang Bin continued, "Mr. Shen also remembered that the person who set the fire at the villa was Wei Fanchen!"
Sun Binghe: "Wait for me. I'm going to kill everyone in this meeting room, then I'll come join you to deal with Wei Fanchen."
Yang Bin: "?"
"The contract," Sun Binghe pressed his brow. "Wait until I finish negotiating this contract."
When he returned to the meeting room three minutes later, the other party stopped smiling because Sun Binghe had stopped smiling.
He acted as if he were in a rush to be reincarnated, adopting an attitude of 'Look, Hengtai isn't lacking this one deal; if you want to cooperate, do it quickly, otherwise get lost,' firing off words like a machine gun.
The other party indeed wanted to squeeze a bit more out of Hengtai. Sun Binghe had absolute authority over this and could make the call, but having missed the drama of the century, Special Assistant Sun was very unhappy.
Furthermore, as Hengtai was an industry leader, if Sun Binghe didn't want to give them face, he didn't have to.
Business cooperation was like that; whoever had the money and the channels was the boss.
The result was that the other party was frightened by Sun Binghe's attitude. Fearing he would change his mind, they quickly pulled out the contract.
"I have doubts about your company's efficiency," Sun Binghe's mouth didn't stop even as he signed. "The last time someone wasted my time like this was when I attended my little nephew's parent-teacher conference; he got a thirteen on his math test." Sun Binghe let out a cold laugh at this point, making everyone's hearts tremble. "For today's cooperation assessment, I can only say it's barely a passing grade. Take care, everyone."
With that, he put down the pen and turned to leave.
The person in charge on the other side looked pale from the verbal lashing. Had they offended Sun Binghe? Then what about CEO Chu's side... what should they do? Now they wouldn't even get a chance to have a meal together!
Sun Binghe headed straight for the hospital.
By then, Shen Lian had mostly recovered and was full of energy again.
Seeing Sun Binghe, Chu Yilan was somewhat surprised. "So fast?"
"Yeah. I didn't make any concessions; the person in charge on the other side didn't seem very bright."
Chu Yilan nodded. "You decide."
Sun Binghe stared at Shen Lian for two seconds, frowning slightly. "Why is Mr. Shen's face so pale?"
"Is it?" Shen Lian didn't feel it himself. "The doctor said I'm fine."
Sun Binghe said with sincere concern, "You should still pay more attention to resting."
Shen Lian smiled. "Will do!"
"Right, about Wei Fanchen." Chu Yilan glanced at his two special assistants, inexplicably seeing a long-absent excitement in their eyes. "Find a way to get the truth out of him."
The frustration Sun Binghe had been holding in all the way there finally eased. "No problem!"
Chu Yilan took Shen Lian home.
It was late at night when they arrived. Aunt Fen was already asleep. Shen Lian didn't feel like eating after his ordeal. Chu Yilan boiled some dumplings for himself. When he came out, he saw Shen Lian lying on the sofa, still in his street clothes, playing with Chu Zhumi.
The kitten had grown again. It seemed to remember Shen Lian, rolling over to show its belly for him to pet, occasionally batting at him with its paws.
"Don't let it scratch you."
"Mm-hmm." Shen Lian loved it dearly and simply picked the kitten up to play. The little fellow had been well-cared for by Aunt Fen; its belly was round from eating, and its body looked as if it were being inflated.
"Are there any canned treats at home?" Shen Lian asked.
Chu Yilan pointed to a cabinet. "They're all in there."
Curious, Shen Lian opened it. Good grief, it was packed full.
"Aunt Fen didn't buy these, did she?" Shen Lian looked at Chu Yilan with a teasing expression. "Aunt Fen isn't skilled at online shopping, and she doesn't know these brands."
Chu Yilan ate his dumplings and remained silent.
Once Chu Yilan finished eating and Shen Lian had his fill of petting the cat, Shen Lian took his bathrobe and went straight to Chu Yilan's bedroom.
Some things didn't need to be said out loud; they no longer needed to sleep in separate rooms.
Listening to the sound of the water in the bathroom, Chu Yilan's eyes darkened with a sense of peace.
