15: Unparalleled City
The early plot is all groundwork; the pace will pick up later. Please bear with me, everyone. This is my first time writing a book, and I'm addressing many issues.
Returning to his own courtyard.
Ji Mo sat cross-legged, and the heaven and earth creation bell transformed into a small bell, floating out. Countless amounts of Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi surged toward him.
Returning from the competition grounds, Ji Mo was not blinded by victory and continued to Cultivate whenever he had time.
The ugly faces of the Ji Family members and Referee Nangong's initiative to show favor made Ji Mo understand even more clearly that strength reigns supreme in this world.
Those who possess strength always earn respect; those without strength are equivalent to ants.
Currently, Ji Mo wants to rapidly increase his strength, but he primarily lacks a Cultivation Technique.
Next, he needs to hunt Yao Beasts to continue increasing his power and temper his Physical Body. Thinking of this, Ji Mo was filled with anticipation for tomorrow's journey.
As for why Ji Mo gave the Medicinal Pill to Ji Ruoxi, it wasn't just to repay a favor.
Rather, it was truly useless. If Cultivating the Hegemonic Heaven Refining Art still required such low-grade Medicinal Pills to temper the Physical Body and spiritual power, then that Heavenly Dao Cultivation Technique would be too much of a waste.
The next day.
Ji Mo, Ji Ruoxi, and the other successful Disciples, filled with excitement, followed the two Peerless Sect Envoys and embarked on the journey to the Peerless Sect, the Holy Land of Cultivation.
Along the way, the scenery was picturesque and the mountains magnificent, but everyone was too preoccupied to appreciate it, their hearts filled with both anticipation and anxiety for the unknown life in the Sect.
The journey was smooth, and after a few days, a majestic and grand mountain range came into view.
The continuous peaks pierced the clouds, and amidst the swirling mist, pavilions and towers could vaguely be seen scattered in an orderly fashion, resembling a celestial realm.
Below the mountain range, a massive, towering city stood majestically. A grand, ancient aura rushed forward, making everyone feel insignificant.
The Disciples were dumbfounded, shocked by the massive city before their eyes.
"Look, that is where the Peerless Sect is located —the Wushuang Mountain Range.
Our destination for this trip is the Outer Sect of the Peerless Sect —Wushuang City."
Envoy Nangong introduced this, her voice calm, yet the pride in her words could not be hidden.
Following the two Envoys, everyone slowly entered the city and headed straight for the new Disciple registration area.
"Starting today, you are officially Outer Sect Disciples of the Peerless Sect."
"Do you see the continuous Wushuang Mountain Range behind the city?"
"That place is the true Peerless Sect, the true Holy Land."
"Only by becoming an Inner Sect Disciple, or by Cultivating to the Innate realm, are you qualified to step into that Holy Land."
Envoy Zhang said, his eyes filled with longing.
Strict Rank hierarchy! Clear divisions! This was the cruel and true depiction of the Xuanling Continent.
"Hahaha! Senior Brother Zhang, Junior Sister Nangong, you sure are quick!"
As soon as the voice fell, two middle-aged men dressed in luxurious silk robes slowly walked over, leading a group of young Disciples.
The ages of these Disciples were similar to Ji Mo, Ji Ruoxi, and the others. They were likely young talents selected from other cities.
"Haha, Junior Brother Bai, you aren't slow either." Envoy Zhang also greeted them with a smile.
"There are quite a few people here. Why are there some at the Acquired Fifth Layer? They weren't just brought in to make up the numbers, were they? The Peerless Sect has never supported trash."
A voice full of mockery suddenly sounded from behind the crowd.
Everyone turned around to look, only to see a gloomy-faced young man slowly approaching with a group of other youths.
"Song Dong, did you eat something dirty? Why are you spewing nonsense?
I haven't seen you bring back a single Innate Disciple either. Everyone is just completing a Sect mission, so what are you flapping your gums about here!"
Referee Zhang had no intention of indulging the other party and immediately retorted without hesitation.
"You..." Song Dong was so choked up and red-faced that he couldn't speak.
He squinted, scanned Ji Mo and the others, and asked:
"Who among you is from the Zhang Family and the Li Family? I have quite a deep relationship with your Families."
Zhang Xuefeng, another Disciple from the Zhang Family, and Li Boyu heard this and quickly stepped forward, respectfully speaking to the young man:
"Senior, we are. May we ask what instructions Senior has?"
The young man looked them over and said, "You are quite decent. Among the contestants who qualified from Wind City this time, are there any people from the Ji Family?"
The three immediately turned their hateful gazes toward Ji Mo and said:
"Senior, that person is called Ji Mo, and the one next to him is called Ji Ruoxi. They are the people from the Ji Family."
A trace of unconcealed killing intent flashed in the young man's eyes. He stared at Ji Mo and Ji Ruoxi and said coldly:
"It seems your luck is quite good, that two of you managed to qualify."
Ji Mo frowned, silently watching the young man, but did not reply.
He pondered inwardly:
"The killing intent in this person's eyes is obvious, yet this is clearly our first meeting, and we have no grudges."
"It seems highly likely that he is an enemy of the Family, or perhaps even connected to the murderer who killed the original owner's parents."
"What? Do you actually want to make a move here? Do you dare? If you don't dare, then stay put honestly and wait for the other Senior and Junior Brothers to return."
Referee Zhang interrupted the other party in time, preventing the tense atmosphere from deteriorating further.
Just then, several more teams gradually entered from the direction of the city gate. These were the people returning from selections in other cities.
At the same time, sounds of hooves came from Wushuang City, as a large group of Disciples wearing clothing marked with the Peerless Sect insignia.
Galloped toward their location. In an instant, the atmosphere on site became extremely lively.
"Haha, the newcomers for this year have finally arrived!"
"I wonder how many people from my Family will be selected by the Sect this time."
"I really want to see which Prodigy Disciples are hidden among this batch of newcomers, haha."
Suddenly, someone on Ji Mo's side shouted loudly:
"Big Brother! Older Female Cousin! Older Sister! Paternal Male Cousin!"
In an instant, this place turned into a large-scale Family reunion scene.
Both the Li Family and the Zhang Family had their own Family Disciples coming over to acknowledge them.
Ji Mo and Ji Ruoxi exchanged glances, both wearing expressions of helplessness.
Since the incident involving Ji Mo's parents, the Ji Family Disciples at the Peerless Sect had continuously met with accidents, either being obstructed in major competitions or failing to enter the Sect entirely.
Even the extremely rare Ji Family members who managed to remain were never seen returning to the Ji Family, suggesting they had long since cast the Family aside.
"Is everyone here?"
A venerable voice suddenly rang out. Although the volume was not loud, it was like a great bell, drowning out the noise of the hundred or so Disciples present.
Everyone looked in the direction of the sound, only to see a thin, elderly man slowly walking out of a grand hall and arriving at the center of the venue.
"Elder Mu!" Seeing this, the Envoys all respectfully bowed.
Elder Mu ignored them, his gaze like lightning as he swept over the crowd of newcomers.
Ji Mo was also secretly observing the old man. The moment their gazes met in the air,
Ji Mo felt a mountain-toppling wave of pressure surge toward him, leaving him powerless to resist. His mind was instantly greatly shaken, and he thought inwardly:
"This old man is likely already in the Innate realm; his strength is unfathomable!"
Elder Mu withdrew his gaze, and a faint smile appeared on his face:
"Not bad. First, congratulations on being able to step into the Peerless Sect. But this is just the beginning."
"Only by entering the Holy Land are you truly considered initiated."
"Perhaps in your respective cities, all of you are rare Prodigies."
"However, once you arrive here, you must put away your arrogance."
"Look at those who arrived before you. Three years ago, they were no less impressive than you, perhaps even more outstanding."
"But even so, they are still working tirelessly to enter the Holy Land. Without further ado, follow me into the Inner City first."
After speaking, Elder Mu turned and walked toward the depths of the city.
Along the way, Ji Mo and the others finally witnessed just how prosperous Wushuang City truly was.
Based on Ji Mo's perception, aside from young children, the cultivation base of most people in the city started at the Acquired Sixth Layer, and the older they were, the higher their cultivation base.
Experts at the acquired eighth layer, Acquired Ninth Layer, and even the Acquired Tenth Layer were also ubiquitous.
Everyone was led to a magnificent and splendid building.
This building was over ten zhang tall, its exact number of floors difficult to discern, and two large golden characters were carved in the center of the building —"Martial Pavilion".
