16: Ten times the number of zombies! Elite-level sea monsters!

"Dea...dead!"

The young man's sobbing roar, like a basin of ice water, extinguished the relaxed atmosphere that had just risen on the rooftop.

Zhou Hai's smile instantly froze, replaced by a dark, foreboding gloom.

He threw away the bowl in his hand and rushed to the young man in three steps, his large, fan-like hand gripping his shoulder, his voice low and powerful.

"What are you panicking about? Speak clearly! Where? How did they die?"

"On...on the third floor, room 307! Bitten...bitten to death by a Floating Corpses!" The young man was intimidated by Zhou Hai's imposing presence, pointing downstairs incoherently.

"Lead the way!" Zhou Hai didn't hesitate for a moment, turning and heading towards the staircase.

"Old Zhao, Little Lu, follow me!"

Zhao Ze silently picked up the giant hammer in the corner, and Lu Sheng quickly assembled the twin fiends spear on his back, gripping it in his hand.

The three followed the young man, rushing down the stairs.

Su Li, who had been silent, merely glanced at their retreating figures before turning her gaze back to the distant sea.

Her duty was to keep watch.

On the third floor, room 307 was already surrounded by survivors, with suppressed cries, terrified whispers, and angry arguments jumbled together.

"Everyone move!"

Zhou Hai roared, and the crowd parted as if pushed by an invisible hand, instantly falling silent and making way for a path.

The scene inside the room made Lu Sheng's brow furrow tightly.

A strong smell of blood assailed them. Three incomplete corpses lay haphazardly on the ground, bloody and mangled, a tragic sight.

Five other injured individuals lay or sat, clutching their wounds and groaning in pain.

In the corner of the room, the bodies of two Low-Level Floating Corpses lay in a pool of blood, their heads smashed to a pulp, clearly dealt with by the survivors themselves.

"Damn it!" Zhou Hai watched this scene, his fists clenching with a 'cracking' sound, his eyes blazing with fury.

He didn't reprimand the arguing survivors but instead swept his hawk-like gaze across the entire room, finally settling on an inconspicuous ventilation opening in the corner of the wall.

The iron grates there had been violently broken from the inside, a dark, gaping hole silently telling the story of how death had arrived.

"Old Zhou..." Zhao Ze also discovered the problem, his face turning extremely grim.

Lu Sheng's heart felt cold.

Any self-proclaimed fortress has a fatal weakness.

They had blocked the doors and windows, blocked the stairs, but overlooked these ventilation ducts that ran throughout the entire building.

Zhou Hai took a deep breath, forcing down his anger.

He walked up to a middle-aged man who was bandaging an injured person and asked in a deep voice, "What happened?"

The man, a respected figure among the survivors, had red eyes and a hoarse voice: "We were resting when those two ghastly things... crawled out of the ventilation duct. When we... when we reacted, it was already too late..."

Panic, like a plague, spread among the survivors.

"This place isn't safe at all! We'll all die here sooner or later!"

"Captain Zhou, didn't you say you cleaned it up? Why are there still monsters?"

Questions arose from all sides.

"All of you, shut the hell up!" Zhou Hai suddenly turned around, his furious roar like a bolt from the blue, making everyone's eardrums buzz.

His bloodshot eyes swept over every terrified face, his voice cold as iron: "We are Sequence Transcendents, not gods! We can clear the Floating Corpsess in the building, but we can't crawl into every single pipe to check! When something happens, instead of thinking about how to solve it, you just complain and wait to die?!"

The crowd fell into a deathly silence.

Zhou Hai pointed at the two Floating Corpses bodies on the ground, his tone softening slightly but still carrying an undeniable authority: "Didn't you kill these two yourselves? You have hands and feet, you are not useless! From now on, everyone, by room, select able-bodied young adults to form patrol teams! Block all ventilation openings, all gaps you can think of, completely!"

He paused, looking at Zhao Ze.

Zhao Ze understood, stepping forward, his voice steady: "The captain is right, you can't just rely on the four of us. Later, I will lead people to the boat to retrieve some weapons and distribute them, prioritizing the patrol teams. From now on, you must protect your own lives!"

This decision stunned all the survivors.

Distribute weapons?

After a brief moment of surprise, the crowd fell silent, their faces burning with shame.

They were right; others were also human, not omnipotent gods. How could they guarantee everyone's safety?

On their ashamed faces, the flame of survival rekindled.

Lu Sheng watched this scene, his evaluation of Zhou Hai and Zhao Ze rising a few more points.

A few words were enough to reorganize ordinary people, not only patching defensive loopholes but also strengthening the cohesion of the entire team.

This was the smartest choice... On the rooftop, the atmosphere remained heavy.

A torrential rain began to fall again.

Zhou Hai handed the subsequent arrangements to Zhao Ze and returned to the rooftop with Lu Sheng.

"We were too careless." Zhou Hai punched the railing, and the concrete railing cracked in response.

Lu Sheng remained silent.

In the apocalypse, any oversight came at the cost of life.

Just then.

Su Li, who had been standing still at the edge of the rooftop, suddenly turned her head, and for the first time, a look of horror appeared in her clear, cold eyes.

"They're here." Her voice was soft, yet it struck Zhou Hai and Lu Sheng's hearts like a heavy hammer.

Zhou Hai's face changed: "What's here?"

"The Corpse Tide." Su Li stared intently at the sea to the west, enunciating clearly, yet with a barely perceptible tremor.

"Ten times more... than last night!"

"And, mixed within it is an... evil ten times larger and more malicious than those two High-Level Floating Corpses combined from last night!"

Boom!

Thunder seemed to explode in Zhou Hai and Lu Sheng's minds!

The two rushed to the edge of the rooftop, following Su Li's gaze!

They saw that the distant sea level had, at some point, completely turned black!

It wasn't dark clouds, but an endless, dense sea of death formed by Floating Corpsess! They were surging towards the Zijin Building at an astonishing speed!

Even more terrifying, within that black Corpse Tide, huge splashes of water shot into the sky, as if countless deep-sea behemoths were mixed in with the horde, charging forward together!

"Damn it!" Zhou Hai's face instantly lost all color, "What the hell are these things?!"

Just then!

"Croak—!"

An indescribably massive, muffled roar suddenly erupted from beneath the sea!

The sound was like the roar of a demon god from the depths of hell, carrying unparalleled penetrative power, causing the glass of the entire Zijin Building to 'buzz' and countless cracks to spread wildly across the glass curtain wall!

Downstairs, the clamor of the survivors was drowned out by this monstrous roar!

Pfft—!!!

Before their horrified eyes, at the densest point of the Corpse Tide below, a massive, mountain-like black shadow suddenly broke through the water's surface!

It was a giant frog-like monster, its size comparable to a small car!

Its entire body was covered in bluish-black, rock-hard skin.

A pair of murky, cold, colossal eyes, the size of car tires, locked onto the four tiny figures on the rooftop!

Lu Sheng looked at the giant black shadow in the distance.

A light screen appeared before his eyes.
