81: Military corruption exposed! Lu Sheng: Sweep up Zijin Mountain!

In the empty warehouse, dust danced in the sunlight.

The survivor from the Blood Wolf Gang who led the way was currently kneeling on the ground, kowtowing frantically as if pounding garlic, his forehead already a bloody mess.

"I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!"

"This Zijin Mountain Camp is divided into the Outer Mountain, the Inner Mountain, and the Summit Area."

The survivor trembled, his voice laced with a sob, terrified that if he spoke a word too slowly, that invisible bullet would drill into his skull.

"Our Blood Wolf Gang... is just one of the forces in the Inner Mountain. The wharf area is our Gang's territory, and we usually rely on collecting passage fees and protection taxes to grow."

Qin Yue's eyebrows shot up, her voice as cold as ice shards: "Collecting taxes? Who gave you the authority?"

The survivor shrank his neck in fear, not daring to look into Qin Yue's eyes, which were filled with Killing Intent. He just trembled and continued: "It's... it's the default rule of the major powers in Purple Gold Mountain. Whoever has the bigger fist makes the rules."

"There are over a dozen Gang-style forces like us, big and small—the Black Snake Gang, the Fierce Tiger Hall, the Red Flower Society..." He reeled off a string of names in one breath, making Lin Hu's face grow darker and darker.

"But the most ruthless one is the newly emerged Triad Society."

Mentioning this name, the fear in the survivor's eyes even surpassed his fear of Lu Sheng; it was a psychological shadow left by being dominated.

"The Triad Society has three leaders, and I heard... I heard they are all Level 5 Spirit Source Users! Their methods are extremely cruel. As soon as they arrived at Purple Gold Mountain, they wiped out several Inner Mountain forces. Beautiful women, valuable supplies, and even... even talented children in the camp all have to pass through their hands first."

"Does the military not care?" Lu Sheng asked, frowning.

"They can't manage it all..." The survivor gave a bitter smile, filled with a desperate numbness. "General Chen and his men are fighting for their lives at sea. With one hundred thousand people in the camp, as long as there isn't a large-scale riot, no one has the energy to clear out these rats in the gutter. And... the major powers are very smart; they even proactively offer supplies to the military to maintain a superficial peace."

"Bastards!"

Lin Hu punched the wall next to him.

No wonder there was no news from the military; it turned out there were vermin within the military collaborating with this scum!

Damn it!

"Boom!"

The sturdy brick wall was blasted open, creating a large hole with gravel flying everywhere.

His eyes were bloodshot, and his chest heaved violently.

They were risking their lives on the front lines against the Corpse Tide for the sake of these people's survival, yet this group of vermin behind them was sucking the blood of the survivors, eating human blood buns!

A sense of unprecedented frustration and anger surged to his head.

Qin Yue didn't speak, but the fire of anger in her heart was already burning fiercely.

Even her breathing had become somewhat ragged.

As a soldier, she could accept dying on the battlefield, but she could not accept that the rear she was protecting was a cesspool.

"Two of you, are you already losing your temper?"

A calm voice abruptly broke the oppressive atmosphere.

Lu Sheng leaned against the empty shelf, toying with a coin he had pulled from somewhere, his face wearing that inscrutable smile of his.

"Where there is light, there are shadows. This is very reasonable."

Lu Sheng stood up straight, his gaze sweeping over Qin Yue and Lin Hu's faces, his tone as relaxed as if he were inviting friends for afternoon tea.

"However, since this shadow is too unsightly and is blocking our path..."

He paused, and a flash of bloodlust that even made Qin Yue feel palpitations crossed his dark eyes.

"Two of you, are you interested in joining me to give this Purple Gold Mountain... a major cleanup?"

Qin Yue looked up abruptly at Lu Sheng.

In the young man's eyes, there was no heavy pity for the world, only the—excitement?—of a hunter seeing prey.

No, it was exhilaration.

But at this moment, this exhilaration made her feel incredibly at ease.

"Brother Lu, I have the exact same intention!" Lin Hu roared in a muffled voice, the lightning on his body flickering faintly again. "I've long wanted to twist off the heads of these scumbags!"

Screw stability!

Screw the big picture!

At this moment, all the bullshit rules were thrown to the back of his mind.

"I have no objection." Qin Yue took a deep breath, the frost in her eyes turning into chilling Killing Intent. "General Chen told us to follow you. Since you are leading this operation, your orders are military orders."

"Very good."

Lu Sheng nodded with satisfaction.

With these two Level 5 hired guns, the efficiency would be much higher.

He turned and looked at the survivor who was still kneeling on the ground, casually tossing him a crumpled piece of paper and a pen.

"Draw out all the locations, numbers, and approximate strengths of the Gangs you know."

"Once you're done, you can leave."

The survivor acted as if granted amnesty, grabbing the pen and frantically scribbling on the paper, wishing he could imprint the map in his head directly onto it.

In just two minutes.

A simple map densely marked with information was presented before Lu Sheng.

"My... my lord, it's done! Can I go now?" The survivor looked up, his face full of hope, but deep in his eyes lurked a trace of venom.

As long as he could leave, he would immediately sell the information about these three people to the Triad Society!

What if there are three Level 5 powerhouses?

The Triad Society has hundreds of people! When the time comes...

"Hmm, well drawn."

Lu Sheng glanced at the map, folded it, and put it into his pocket.

Then, he raised his hand and flicked his finger lightly against the survivor's forehead.

"I'll send you on your way right now."

The hope on the survivor's face instantly froze, his pupils contracting violently: "You didn't keep your word..."

"Pfft!"

A sonic boom from air being compressed to the extreme rang out.

A bullet instantly pierced his skull.

The corpse slumped to the ground, the venom in his eyes turning to ash before it could even spread.

"Sorry, you might not have understood. I only said you could leave, but I didn't say how you could leave."

Lu Sheng stepped over the corpse without even turning his head, his voice as indifferent as if he were stating a truth.

Qin Yue and Lin Hu watched this scene, their eyelids twitching slightly.

Too ruthless.

This kind of cold-blooded decisiveness was even more thorough than that of soldiers like them who had rolled through mountains of corpses and seas of blood.

But strangely, they felt no disgust in their hearts; instead, they felt... satisfied!

"Let's go."

Lu Sheng walked out of the warehouse, the dazzling sunlight spilling onto him, yet it could not illuminate the abyss in his eyes.

He raised his hand and pointed to a red dot on the map closest to their location.

"Black Snake Gang."

"My goal is, before dark, to make this Purple Gold Mountain..."

He turned back, grinned at the two military elites, revealing a mouthful of stark white teeth.

"Change the sky."
