13: Chapter 13 Sprinting Beyond Bolt

The scene was naturally very lively, but the livestream audience seemed rather uninterested.

"What's so good about a crappy university sports meet? I'd rather watch e-sports with this time. Room 66 in the domestic e-sports section is pretty good; I've watched the replays several times already."

"Giving a thumbs up to the guy above me first, and asking for a link while I'm at it."

"What e-sports replay? It's that classic!? Uh, I want to see it too."

"Can you guys be a bit more serious? But to be fair, what's so interesting about this competition? We've had these from primary school through university; I'm long tired of them."

"Exactly, the Streamer might as well film the cheerleaders. At least that's real, or at least more real than the girls in the dance section shaking their butts."

"..."

Everyone was chiming in, and the bullet chat in the livestream was constant.

Most of it was filled with disdain.

Su Xueer also felt a wave of awkwardness.

Sports meets are events held by almost every school every year to promote the physical and mental health, positive growth, and 'positive energy' of the nation's youth.

Some schools even set up specific assessment tasks, with punishments for those who fail to meet them.

However, most schools still hold sports meets with a more relaxed attitude.

Yet, at the same time, it is also a competitive arena for athletes.

In many universities, some student-athletes can even rival professional athletes!

But in the minds of the livestream viewers, they had all been through this themselves, and there were no real highlights, making it quite boring.

But she had no choice; for now, nothing interesting was happening, so Su Xueer could only bite the bullet and keep filming.

Su Xueer took a lap around the track and soon found Lin Heng, who was preparing for his race.

Lin Heng was wearing a jersey with the number six, seemingly warming up.

Hmm...

He was indeed warming up.

While the other athletes were running, jumping, or stretching, Lin Heng was holding a thermos, gently blowing on the steam, glancing inside, and taking a small sip.

The livestream audience burst into laughter instantly.

"Six! Our Lin Heng truly lives up to being the face of Capital University of Economics and Business. This 'steady as an old dog' look makes him seem like a veteran market manipulator."

"When a man reaches middle age and has no choice, he steeps goji berries in his thermos. He's so young and already steeping them; is this kid's body weak?"

"I don't know if he's weak, but what I do know is that he's probably already given up. Look at the others in his heat—which one of them isn't a tanned sports student? Who could outrun them?"

"True, Lin Heng probably gave up long ago. He was likely pushed into this reluctantly; after all, the School of Economics and Trade has very few guys."

"I hope he doesn't fall behind too much. Don't embarrass our school."

"..."

To everyone, it seemed that Lin Heng had already given up on the race.

Even Su Xueer and several of Lin Heng's classmates felt the same way.

They felt it was almost impossible for Lin Heng to beat those Tanned sports students who practiced sprinting every day.

"Sigh... better not count on it. The gap is just too large. Who would've thought those guys would be so shameless as to bring in ringers!"

The President of the School of Economics and Trade's Student Union stomped their foot in anger, looking very displeased.

"Tell me about it. If I'd known, we would've brought some in too."

A girl nearby was also indignant, regretting that she had found out too late.

To liven up the atmosphere, Su Xueer couldn't just stand there, so she walked toward Lin Heng.

Lin Heng was still in the middle of his preparations anyway.

"Um, Lin Heng, I'd like to ask, do you have any thoughts on this sprint event?"

Lin Heng, who was busy drinking hot water for his health, was suddenly confronted with a microphone and didn't react immediately.

Seeing it was Su Xueer, he didn't say much.

He shook his head slightly. "No thoughts. The result will be the same anyway."

Huh...?

Su Xueer hadn't expected Lin Heng to kill the mood right from the start.

She gave a dry laugh.

"And what kind of result might that be? Do you have confidence in this sprint?"

Hearing this, Lin Heng and Su Xueer just stared at each other.

The livestream audience was caught between laughter and tears.

"Isn't that obvious? What other result could there be? Is there any result other than last place?"

"Look at Lin Heng's eyes; I'm experiencing the feeling of being asked something so dumb you're speechless for the first time."

"Hahaha... that kills me. I didn't expect Lin Heng to have such a cute side."

"I told you, no one's perfect. Lin Heng has already performed so impressively before; how could he be good at everything? A perfect score in sports too? That's clearly impossible."

"Exactly. If he could outrun even one of those Tanned sports students with that build... tsk tsk..."

Everyone couldn't help but tease.

Su Xueer was clearly asking something she already knew the answer to.

And at that moment, Lin Heng finally spoke.

He blinked and said with a serious face, "I don't think they can outrun me."

Pfft...!

The livestream audience broke out in sighs.

Look at that, the kid was asked until he started talking nonsense out of speechlessness.

Just then, the referee called Lin Heng and the others to the track.

"Well, I'm off."

Lin Heng waved and quickly left.

This was definitely a race with no suspense.

Everyone was clamoring for the Streamer to film the cheerleaders instead.

But just then, the referee's starting gun went off.

Su Xueer quickly panned the camera to the person who had burst out into the lead.

And then...

The livestream was stunned.

"Holy crap!?"

"Is that Lin Heng??"

"Running that fast! Is he even human??"

"Could it be a camera work issue from the Streamer? Maybe he isn't actually that fast?"

"Bro, are you joking? Look at the Tanned sports students behind him—they're getting smoked! And you're calling it a camera work issue?"

"..."

Su Xueer was also shocked.

Being there in person, she could feel that lightning-fast sensation even more intensely.

"Holy crap!?"

The people from the School of Business and Trade were completely dumbfounded.

They had been comforted by the neighboring schools at first, but now they had become objects of envy and resentment.

A short hundred meters is only a matter of ten-odd seconds; it was over quickly.

"Who would've thought? You guys were hiding such a deep secret! You really fooled us!"

"I didn't expect you to have a secret weapon hidden away!"

People from the other schools nearby gave wry smiles.

They thought they were guaranteed to win by bringing in ringers, but they didn't expect to be smoked like this.

Facing their sour comments, the people from the School of Economics and Trade were also dazed.

Holy crap! The thing is, we didn't know either!

By now, Lin Heng had finished the race and was waiting for the referee to announce the results.

Su Xueer had already made her way to Lin Heng's side, her face full of curiosity.

She also wanted to know how fast Lin Heng had just run.

However, for some reason, the referee's expression looked a bit off, which made Su Xueer frown.

"Lin Heng, 9.18 seconds!"

Finally, the referee announced the result.

*Hiss...!*

Everyone was shocked.

Even Bolt was only at 9.58 seconds!
