32: Chapter 32 The Bathhouse is Dousing Up

Along the way, Zhang Wei's car became the most eye-catching thing in traffic; many drivers even formed a long queue behind him just to take a photo.

After much effort, he finally drove the car into the neighborhood and parked it in the underground garage. Once home, Zhang Wei relaxed completely, feeling the accumulated fatigue of the entire day. Slumped on the sofa, he didn't even want to speak.

Although An Xiaoxi hadn't done much physical labor, her pant legs were splashed with quite a bit of mud. It pained her that she had dirtied her clothes only a few days after buying them, so she went to her room to change. She then ran to the sink and began scrubbing them briskly.

It was already six in the evening. Zhang Wei was too lazy to go downstairs for food, so he ordered three pizzas to be delivered. He would wait for Liu Haorui to return before they ate together.

But an hour passed in the blink of an eye, and there was still no sign of Liu Haorui. Zhang Wei gave him a call, and after a few rings, it was picked up.

"Old Liu, where are you?"

"Don't even ask. I just got out of the police station and I'm in a car rushing to your place now," Liu Haorui said indignantly.

Not long after the old man had pulled him away, some bystander—who knows who—called the police, and the officers arrived shortly after. After understanding the situation, they took everyone back to the station for mediation. They didn't make things too difficult for him; after a stern lecture, they let him go. By the time he stepped out, that unscrupulous reporter had long since vanished.

Another twenty minutes passed before Liu Haorui finally arrived. His appearance was wretched; his clothes had been crumpled and tugged into a mess by the old men during the farce. He was barefoot, covered in mud from head to toe, and emitted a pungent odor.

In this miserable state, he could have changed careers to a beggar just by holding out a bowl.

An Xiaoxi looked at him with disdain and said, "Leave as soon as you're done eating, you stink! If you dare to take a bath here, I'll smash your head!"

Liu Haorui was starving and didn't care about An Xiaoxi's threat; he grabbed a slice of pizza and started devouring it. Zhang Wei and An Xiaoxi were also incredibly hungry and joined in.

"Everyone worked hard today," Zhang Wei said while eating. "We've all ended up in a bit of a mess. How about this: after we eat, I'll treat everyone to a nice soak at a bathhouse? We can get a massage and relax while we're at it."

Liu Haorui pointed at An Xiaoxi in surprise and said, "Are you sure you want to take her to that kind of place?"

"What are you thinking? We're going to a respectable bathhouse," Zhang Wei said crossly. Ever since he'd had Liu Haorui accompany Xue Zhongde for a night out last time, this guy had become much more depraved.

Zhang Wei then turned to tempt An Xiaoxi: "I heard a new bathhouse just opened in Jing'an District. It even has water slides to play on!"

(๑✧∀✧๑) (๑✧∀✧๑) (๑✧∀✧๑)

Hearing this, An Xiaoxi immediately got excited and nodded to show she wanted to go. Zhang Wei went to his room to lend a set of clothes to Liu Haorui, who promptly threw his beggar-like outfit into the trash.

With the cannon in the car, they couldn't drive it, so the three of them took a private hire car to their destination.

The newly opened bathhouse wasn't too far away and was modeled after a European style. Looking through the three-meter-high glass doors, the lobby was decorated magnificently. In the center of the ceiling hung a crystal chandelier as tall as a person, which was currently emitting waves of soft light, making the white marble floor tiles below shine brilliantly.

The three of them received their wristbands at the front desk and separated into the men's and women's baths. Zhang Wei and Liu Haorui called for two scrubbers to give them a thorough cleaning from head to toe. After rinsing off, they soaked in a spacious pool.

The water was very hot. Having been tired all day, the two couldn't help but let out comfortable groans as they entered the pool. After soaking for over ten minutes, their bodies felt lazy and extremely content.

Seeing that it was about time, the two put on the bathhouse's specialized pajamas and left the men's bath for the common area.

There, they saw An Xiaoxi holding a coconut, drinking wildly while sitting on a tatami mat.

This bathhouse was quite high-end; not only were the drinks and fruit all-you-can-eat, but it also provided various delicacies and snacks. Even Häagen-Dazs ice cream came with unlimited refills.

Of course, the price was also high-end; the entry fee per person was 1,000 yuan. The scrubbing service was extra.

The three of them each grabbed some more food and then gathered on the tatami to slack off together.

After lying down for a while, Zhang Wei sat up and said to the other two, "I want to discuss with you how to handle that cannon. I originally wanted to sell it as an antique for money, but I've changed my mind now."

"This cannon is evidence of the little japanese's crimes during their invasion of our country. It is a weapon forged using our country's reparations to be used against us. I want to donate it to the Museum so more people can remember this history. What do you think?"

If it were just an ordinary antique, Zhang Wei would have sold it without a second thought. But this cannon was different. Behind it lay the history of blood and tears of hundreds of millions of ancestors and compatriots.

Before he passed away, Zhang Wei's grandfather told him that not long after the Nanjing Massacre, the little japanese occupied Anhui Province. His grandfather was captured by the little japanese and forced to work as a laborer, carrying sacks day and night to deliver supplies to the front lines. Along the way, he was whipped and cursed at the slightest whim, and wasn't even given a single full meal.

Zhang Wei's grandfather had been quick-witted; he took advantage of a lapse in the little japanese's guard to escape. He hid under a small bridge along the road to avoid the search. Later, he heard that of the laborers who went, not even one in ten returned.

Zhang Wei wasn't some overly righteous person, but he had his own principles specifically regarding the little japanese's invasion of China.

An Xiaoxi and Liu Haorui nodded repeatedly in agreement after hearing this.

"Then it's settled. An Xiaoxi, when you get back, look up the contact information for the Shenghai Museum. Tomorrow, we'll take the captured weapon and hand it over to the authorities," Zhang Wei said happily.

"Haha, 'captured weapon' sounds great, but I can't feel happy when I think about that reporter's face."

Liu Haorui was a carefree person, but he felt that now that he'd been exposed by that reporter, his goddess Zhao Dan would surely find him embarrassing. At the thought of Zhao Dan ignoring him forever, his originally happy face slumped again.

"Actually, I think this is an opportunity," Zhang Wei said, a sudden spark of inspiration hitting him. He said to Liu Haorui, "You're viral across the entire internet now. That reporter is making a fortune off the traffic; he couldn't care less whether you live or die. If you ask me, you should just become a creator on Bilibili yourself. With your current popularity, if you just do something interesting, your follower count will skyrocket."

"Once the audience sees your videos, they'll naturally know you're not a lunatic."

"It just so happens we're going to the Museum to donate the cannon tomorrow. We'll have An Xiaoxi film a video of you and post it on Bilibili. That gimmick will definitely blow up. It'll show you have a sense of justice and social responsibility. Isn't that great?"

Liu Haorui tilted his head and thought for a moment, then slapped his thigh. "That makes sense! When the time comes, I'll expose that unscrupulous reporter who violated my portrait rights and let him taste what it's like to be gawked at."

An Xiaoxi also chimed in with an idea: "Brother Rui, you can also film some videos of you leasing land for farming later. When the crops are ripe, maybe you can even do a livestream to sell them. Then you won't have to worry about selling what you grow."

Zhang Wei hadn't expected such a strategy and was also overjoyed.
