12: Special

Chapter 12: Elite

After a simple morning exercise, Dick lay on the bed, his gaze sweeping towards the upper right corner of his vision.

[World Task]

"Former Terrifying Tales": Go to the Royal Capital Magic Academy, enroll, and investigate the truth behind the seven great campus mysteries.

[Side Task]

"Strongest Newcomer": Go to the Royal Capital Adventurers Guild, register, and become a D-rank adventurer.

"First Pot of Gold": Earn the first ten thousand gold coins in life. (Completed)

"blood hand butcher": Kill the five thousandth Beast in life. (Current progress: 56/5000)

There are still a few months until the Royal Capital Magic Academy starts, and Dick plans to complete other Side Tasks before enrolling.

"blood hand butcher" is still relatively simple; although killing five thousand Beasts seems like a lot, it's actually quite easy.

Because the System didn't specify the level or type of Beast!

With Dick's current strength, Beasts with single-digit levels can be easily handled; a few months are enough to complete the task.

The only difficult task is "Strongest Newcomer"; becoming a D-rank adventurer is not simple.

Initially, all newly registered adventurers are E-rank, whether you are royalty or a level 100 professional.

The Guild's confidence comes from their influence spread throughout the world, their unfathomable foundation, and... two resident Heroes.

And the promotion of adventurers requires meeting certain conditions.

One is to participate in and complete D-rank tasks issued by the Guild, at least 5 times.

Of course, if you are strong, you can directly take on higher-level tasks, such as directly participating in and completing A-rank tasks 5 times.

This way, you can directly become an A-rank adventurer.

But there is a huge loophole in this promotion system: what if my strength is weak, but my teammates are strong?

Can I get promoted by just lying around?

Adventurers do not complete tasks independently but need to form a team and cooperate to complete various tasks.

If four peak experts bring a good-for-nothing to complete an A-rank task five times, can that good-for-nothing directly become an A-rank adventurer?

The answer is obviously no.

Because adventurer promotion also requires a rigid condition, which is one's own profession level!

An E-rank adventurer's profession must reach at least level 10, a D-rank adventurer needs level 20, a C-rank adventurer needs level 30, a B-rank adventurer needs level 40... and so on.

The highest S-rank adventurer requires a profession level of 60, and this restriction weeds out many good-for-nothings who rely on teammates!

Not only that, but adventurers also need to undergo a Guild assessment to check if they possess true strength, not just inflated power.

Completing corresponding rank tasks, reaching corresponding profession levels, undergoing corresponding Guild assessments...

Under the regulation of these three conditions, the rank of adventurers will no longer be inflated.

Dick is confident he can complete 5 D-rank tasks and pass the Guild's assessment, but... reaching profession level 20 is difficult.

Dick's current profession is Demon King, and the condition for leveling up is completing World Missions; even with the help of the Master of Witches, it's hard to reach level 20 in the short term.

However, you don't necessarily have to reach level 20 to become a D-rank adventurer; there are other special methods.

Adventurer rank, to put it simply, is just a standard of evaluation.

If a person's strength, achievements, and other aspects all meet the standards, even if their level is insufficient, they can still be exceptionally promoted to a high-ranking adventurer.

Such people are called Elites; they are all exceptionally talented adventurers, but they are extremely rare because the Guild's review is very strict!

The Guild has always prioritized strength and will never overlook any talent.

...

After breakfast, Dick called Alice, and they set off together for the local Adventurers Guild in the Bison Territory.

As the young master of the Bison Family, Alice holds immense power, and bringing her along can save a lot of trouble.

In the luxurious carriage, Dick told Alice his idea, which drew a wave of skepticism from her.

"Being an Elite is not simple; the Bison Territory hasn't produced one in recent decades. Although you have some skills, don't be overly confident."

Dick just shook his head slightly and said, "That's because the adventurers in your Bison Territory have no talent; they are all mediocre."

"Wh-"

Alice immediately retorted defiantly, "You, what do you know? The Adventurers Guild's review for Elites is incredibly strict; I failed for three consecutive years..."

Undoubtedly, Elite is a title of extremely high prestige, symbolizing strength and talent, and many young noble children desire it.

Alice is naturally one of them; she is originally a genius of the Bison Territory, the heir everyone expects, and extremely confident.

But unfortunately, Alice has failed for three consecutive years.

Facing Alice's exasperated shouting, Dick smiled without saying anything, not arguing.

Alice, who hasn't obtained the Doomsday inheritance, cannot be called a genius at all; she is merely a slightly brighter firefly.

A true genius is like Isurna, relying entirely on herself, able to shine like a bright moon without any external help!

There are a total of nine Witches in this world, and like Heroes, there are also gaps between Witches, and they are like abyssal gaps!

Mina is the Dark Witch; her strength, talent, and luck are all at the bottom, requiring a long time to develop before she can rise.

Alice is the Doomsday Witch, but at most she can only squeeze into the top three; she is weaker in the early stages and requires the baptism of various opportunities to transform.

As for Isurna, she is the strongest Fallen Witch, invincible in the early, middle, and late stages, sweeping through everything and suppressing an entire era!

After dozens of lifetimes, the only way Dick found to counter Isurna was to conquer her and make her a wife who would bear him children.

While thinking, the carriage arrived in front of the Adventurers Guild.

The Guild is located on the most luxurious street in the Inner City of the Bison Territory; even though land is extremely valuable, it occupies a vast area.

As one of the world's top-tier forces, the Adventurers Guild is very wealthy; not only is it powerful, but it is also absolutely neutral.

Regardless of the changes in times, the rise and fall of kingdoms, or the change of dynasties, the Adventurers Guild still stands tall, transcendent in the world.

This also makes the adventurer ranks more valuable.

Even if the Empress of the Aimiya Empire came, she couldn't make any Adventurers Guild president kneel, let alone violate any regulations.

After getting off the carriage, Alice regained her usual noble arrogance, while Dick and Mina followed behind her, acting as guards.

This had been agreed upon beforehand.

Outside, Dick was Alice's guard knight, serving her diligently and acting on her orders.

"Lady Alice, please watch your step."

Dick gently supported Alice, his etiquette perfect, like a very professional attendant.

Alice greatly enjoyed Dick's expression, actions, tone, and attitude, but she didn't dare to actually order him around, as this was just an act for outsiders.

Stephen, who was following beside them, nodded to himself.

As the old butler of the Bison Family, Stephen was very loyal and always put the interests of the Bison Family first.

Dick is young and promising, quick-witted in his actions, and has a clean background; coupled with their similar ages, he can be cultivated as a close attendant to assist the young master!

As soon as they entered the Guild hall, the front desk staff came forward to greet them. After a few exchanges, they led everyone upstairs to meet the local president.

The review for Elites is personally handled by the president of the local Adventurers Guild; each person only gets one chance per year and needs to pay a large amount for the review.

These conditions are all to make those arrogant people give up, preventing everyone from wanting to try their luck.

On the fifth floor, in a luxurious office, a burly giant lion Orc sat on a leather sofa.

He is the president of the Adventurers Guild, Baisen branch, Ulla, and also the only B-rank adventurer in the Bison Territory.

Dick looked, and Ulla's identity information appeared in his vision.

"Name": Ulla Nalendo.

"Race": Orc, male.

"Age": 62 years old.

"Profession": Berserker, level 41.

"Talents": Powerless Rage (Intermediate), Iron Bones (Intermediate).

"Recent Encounter": Kicked out of the house by his wife due to an affair, planning to buy a gift to apologize in the next few days.

To actually possess the talent of Powerless Rage, his luck is quite good.

Powerless Rage is the talent most suited for a Berserker; although it causes the loss of the ability to use magic, it grants the effect of becoming stronger the angrier one gets.

This is a very overpowered talent; challenging higher levels is almost commonplace.

The only drawback is that magic cannot be used, which is why Dick didn't choose it when he was reborn.

"Alice, you should know the rules. You just underwent the Elite assessment a few months ago. Come back next year."

Facing Ulla's words, Alice snorted coldly and pointed at Dick, saying, "It's not me, but my friend who is here for the assessment!"

Hearing this, Ulla was a bit surprised. His pair of terrifying Beast eyes immediately looked at Dick, and after a moment, he shook his head.

He had thin arms and legs, and his magic pressure was also very low; he looked like an ordinary newcomer.

Alice was okay; at least she truly had talent, and with more effort, she might actually become an Elite.

But Ulla had seen many like Dick; those spoiled young masters liked to come here to waste money, thinking highly of themselves but lacking the ability.

"Alice, are you perhaps bored and looking to amuse yourself with me..."

Before Ulla could finish, Dick placed a bag of gold coins on the table and said seriously, "This is the assessment fee. Please arrange for it to start now."
