133: Invitation to dinner

At the time, he didn't think it concerned him, so he didn't care, nor did he think to ask later. Now, this might relate to his future collaborations, so he wanted to talk to Wu Zijin first.

After a month of getting along, the two had become very good friends, and their communication with each other had become more frequent.

For this, they even specially bought two homing pigeons to facilitate communication.

You read that right, it was two.

One pigeon would get tired after four trips a day, but they often chatted more than four times a day.

From this, one could also see how good their relationship was.

So, Xu Bai felt that if he asked this question, the other party should answer.

However, he was worried that such questions might involve some confidential matters, so he thought of Li Baoyu's family restaurant, which offered good privacy. Plus, Li Baoyu's sister, Li Baorong, had given him a membership cards, allowing him to eat for free.

Thus, he thought of inviting the other party to have lunch there tomorrow to discuss it in person.

After writing the letter, Xu Bai tucked it into the small bucket attached to the pigeon's leg. The bucket looked small, but it could hold an A5-sized paper folded and rolled up.

This paper was also a super-light, ultra-thin paper specially developed for transmitting messages. One had to write lightly, or it would easily tear, but it had a bit of toughness when pulled, making it difficult to rip.

Xu Bai touched Homing Pigeon No. 1's body, then opened the window and released the pigeon.

Homing Pigeon No. 1 flapped its wings and flew towards its destination.

It would fly in the safe zone above the city and not towards the forest, because there were Strange Beast that threatened their lives there. Although they were just small pigeons, they were not foolish and had a sense of crisis... That afternoon, Wu Zijin received another letter from Xu Bai. It wasn't asking questions like before, but an invitation to eat at the 'Taste' chain restaurant.

Wu Zijin was a little surprised, but he happened to be a bit bored with his recent research, so he could go out for a meal to relax. He didn't think much of it and immediately agreed.

Wu Zijin looked at the cards next to the table, then at the letter in his hand... The afterglow of the sunset faded, and night fell. Homing Pigeon No. 2 flew to Xu Bai's windowsill.

"Tap tap."

Homing Pigeon No. 2 gently pecked at the window with its sharp beak, making a sound.

Xu Bai heard the sound, opened the window, and let it in.

Taking out the letter from the pigeon's small bucket, Xu Bai didn't read it immediately but placed the pigeon in its little house.

The pigeon house already had water and food, to reward it for its hard journey. Pigeon No. 2 chirped happily, as if thanking Xu Bai, then lowered its head and began to drink and eat.

Xu Bai took the letter back to his seat and gently unfolded it.

He was somewhat dumbfounded when he saw the content of the letter.

This letter was the very one he had just sent out; Wu Zijin had only written "Okay" in the bottom right corner of the paper.

One could say it saved both ink and paper.

The paper didn't cost much; was it necessary to be so frugal?

He strongly suspected that the other party had invested all his money in research and could no longer afford to eat.

(・ω・` lll) Sweat

Never mind. Seeing that the other party had agreed to his invitation, Xu Bai smiled, didn't dwell on it, and continued to tinker with his electric fan... It was another sunny noon.

A man in a suit walked into the 'Taste' restaurant.

Seeing someone enter, the waiter quickly opened the door, bowed, and curtsied.

"Welcome, sir. Are you dining alone?"

"I have an appointment with someone; I don't know if he has arrived yet."

"Could you tell me his name? I'll check for you."

"Bai Xiaobai."

"Alright, I'll check for you. Please wait a moment."

With that, the receptionist lowered her head and began searching for the name "Bai Xiaobai" in the notebook in front of her.

She quickly found it, then looked up at the gentleman in front of her and said, "Hello, he is at table 32 on the 2nd floor. He has already arrived, and the waiter next to me will guide you up."

"Okay, thank you."

Wu Zijin was wearing a crisp suit, and because he had just walked down the street, there was still some sweat on his forehead. He pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped it away.

Then, he walked unhurriedly, following the waiter upstairs.

Actually, both he and Xu Bai knew each other's names and had exchanged some information later, but he was used to calling the other party Xiaobai, so he didn't change it.

And the other party had always called him by a fake name, "Wu Bai," sometimes even joining Xu Le in calling him "Brother Xiao Wu"...

At this moment, Xu Bai and Xu Le upstairs were looking at the menu on the table, having already selected some items, waiting for Wu Zijin to arrive to finalize the order.

They had actually arrived only a little earlier than Wu Zijin.

The dining tables upstairs were quite far apart, and there were green plant partitions in between, making the environment relatively quiet.

In this quiet atmosphere, two sets of footsteps suddenly sounded.

Hearing the footsteps, Xu Le was the first to react, looking up to see who was coming.

"Brother Xiao Wu, good morning."

Facing Xu Le's bright smile, Wu Zijin playfully replied,

"It's not morning, it's noon now."

"Then, good noon." Xu Le, that little clever one, wasn't embarrassed and skillfully resolved the situation.

While they were chatting, Xu Bai also reacted.

"You're here. Take a look at the menu and select whichever set meal you want to eat."

Handing the menu to Wu Zijin, Xu Bai looked at the clothes the other party was wearing.

"Brother Xiao Wu, why are you dressed like this?"

Wu Zijin spread his hands and retorted, "What's wrong with dressing like this? It's normal to dress like this when eating at a high-end restaurant. Xiaobai, it's you wearing a T-shirt and shorts that's abnormal, isn't it?"

"Is that so?"

Xu Bai looked at his own clothes and felt they should be fine, a youthful male college student style, clean and refreshing.

"I think I'm dressed very well."

Wu Zijin raised an eyebrow. Oh, so the kid was still unconvinced.

"Lele, which of your two brothers do you think is more handsome?"

Although Lele hadn't encountered the dilemma of 'Is Daddy better or Mommy better?', this question of 'Which brother is better?' was also difficult to answer.

(⊙o⊙)... "Lele thinks Lele is the best dressed."

Xu Le put his hands on his hips, trying to look more imposing.

"Hahahahaha..." "Hahahahaha..."

Xu Bai and Wu Zijin both burst into laughter because of Lele's words.

"Pfft..." The waiter who came to take the order couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Kids are so amusing; it's another day to forgive the world.

Xu Le looked at this one, then at that one, not knowing why everyone was laughing.

He furrowed his little brow.

Lele was clearly very smart, not making either of his two brothers sad.
