108: Bai Ming and Awakening

As Bai Minghe spoke, he glanced back at the car lying in a pool of blood.

It was their transportation when they arrived, but now it was completely totaled. He sighed, a hint of reluctance in his voice: “What a shame… it could have been used for a few more days.”

But it was done; there was no turning back now.

He loosened his grip on his arm and slowly stood up.

The wound throbbed, as if burned, but strangely, he didn’t feel much pain, even a subtle numbness.

Seeing his uncoordinated movement as he stood, Bai Wanning frowned and reached out to help him.

But as soon as her fingertips touched his arm, a sharp, intense pain suddenly shot through her!

“Hiss—!”

She recoiled as if electrocuted, her face changing color, and she stumbled back two steps.

Her fingers trembled violently. She looked down and saw a tiny bit of redness and a burn mark on her fingertips.

“You…” She narrowed her eyes, looking coldly at Bai Minghe, “What did you do to me?”

Bai Minghe paused, then looked down at the arm she had touched.

He was also a bit bewildered, unsure what had happened. But the next second, he noticed a slight twitch in his fingertips, like an unusual pulse.

He spread his palm, his fingers naturally splaying open—

Golden sparks flickered at his fingertips, like tiny bolts of lightning, crackling in the air.

“What is this…” he murmured, his expression complex.

His brows furrowed tighter and tighter. He instinctively clenched his fist—

“Boom!”

The golden light instantly exploded, engulfing his entire arm, electrical arcs swirling and roaring.

Sparks carrying the scent of burning metal danced in the air, and the dust on the ground was stirred up, as if it would explode any second!

Bai Wanning’s eyes narrowed. She instinctively took half a step back, staring intently at him.

“…You really didn’t turn into a zombie,” she said in a low voice, “but you… awakened.”

Bai Minghe was startled. He swung his fist and slammed it hard against the wall.

Bang!

Crack!

The wall cracked, a large crater appeared in it, and a loud crash echoed through the alley.

Bai Minghe looked at the large hole in the wall, then turned to Bai Wanning, a smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.

“Wanning, did you see that?”

However, Bai Wanning seemed to have no words to reply.

She stared at Bai Minghe in shock, wondering if something was wrong. How could this man, who should have awakened a Earth Ability, have awakened a Lightning Ability instead?

Bai Minghe also realized something was off with Bai Wanning. He didn’t press the issue, dragging his body out of the alley and turning to look at the shambling zombies at the end of the street. His eyes flashed, and without warning, he charged into the horde of zombies.

Bai Wanning heard another loud bang and suddenly snapped back to reality.

She walked out of the alley and saw Bai Minghe knocking down a dozen zombies with a single punch.

He was still honing his strength, so he couldn’t eliminate all the zombies at once, but Bai Wanning knew that once he mastered these skills, he would definitely become a prominent figure.

She felt her facial muscles twitch, and a strange sense of loss and regret welled up in her heart. If she had known that Bai Minghe awakened as a Lightning Ability User instead of a Earth Ability User, she would have killed him at the first opportunity.

Now she was the one in trouble!

However, Bai Wanning calmed down after two breaths. Even if Bai Minghe awakened as a Lightning Ability User, he still owed her two life-saving favors, so she didn’t need to worry.

She watched Bai Minghe charge into the zombie horde, punching again.

Where his fist struck, an explosion erupted, and countless golden lightning bolts enveloped the zombies.

Bai Wanning noticed thick tentacles wrapping around the zombies, immobilizing them, forcing them to struggle to break free, only to be burned to ashes.

After dealing with the zombies, Bai Minghe only needed to clean up and collect the crystal cores.

This man was even more formidable than in her previous life.

“Wanning, let’s go!” Bai Jixuan, driving the family’s SUV, pulled up where Bai Wanning was standing. “Mom is home alone.”

Bai Wanning hummed in acknowledgment, then turned to Bai Minghe and asked, “Are you coming back with us, or are you staying here?”

“I’m coming back with you.” Bai Minghe tossed the crystal cores he had dug out of the flesh into his backpack and turned to walk towards the car.

There was no choice; even if he wanted to stay, he couldn’t.

His car had been surrounded by a group of zombies and crashed into a wall. If he didn’t go back with Bai Wanning and the others, he would have to walk home.

He got into the car, looking at the two men who were glaring at him with disgust.

For a moment, he thought the two men would make him get out, but Bai Jixuan and Bai Zhan just glared at him fiercely, then completely ignored him, as if he wasn’t even in the car.

Fortunately, on the way home, Bai Minghe found a car showroom, and he and Bai Wanning easily found two heavy-duty trucks that could be used even in the Apocalypse.

Most importantly, these trucks could be charged using solar panels.

With these resources, it was much better than relying on gasoline cars.

The group quickly returned to Ancient North Grand Court. As soon as Bai Wanning got out of the car, she saw a zombie charging from where she stood, and she couldn’t help but frown.

She quickly pulled out her cleaver and chopped off the zombie’s head.

She used her Water Ability to clean the crystal core, then tossed it into her space pocket, murmuring, “How did zombies invade here so quickly?”

She had cleared this area quite thoroughly; strictly speaking, such an invasion shouldn’t have happened.

Unless… someone brought these things here.

Bai Wanning’s eyes flashed. She raised her knife and said to her Older Brothers, “Keep your eyes open, don’t be careless.”

She looked at her Older Brother, who was supporting Tong Huan, and told him, “Big Brother, you stay and guard. Second Brother and I will deal with these zombies.”

Bai Jixuan nodded. Since he had the responsibility of looking after someone, he naturally wouldn’t act rashly.

While he stayed, Bai Wanning and Bai Zhan charged at the zombies and began clearing them out.

“I’m sorry.” Tong Huan looked at Bai Jixuan, who had to stay with her, feeling a bit embarrassed.

If she hadn’t been injured, Bai Jixuan could have helped Bai Wanning and her Older Brother.

“No need to apologize,” Bai Jixuan said indifferently. “You’re injured, we can’t leave you. Try to move as little as possible, otherwise, both of us will be in danger.”

Tong Huan smiled obediently and leaned against him motionless, letting him support her, while Bai Wanning cleared a path for them.

Passing through the zombie-infested corridor, Fang Qing’s sister looked out the window and saw Bai Jixuan supporting a beautiful woman. She sneered, then turned to Fang Qing, who was eating rat meat with relish, and said, “Eat, keep eating. Your husband has been stolen, and you’re still eating.”

“What did you say?” Fang Qing abruptly dropped the bone in her hand and turned to her sister, who was mocking her. “Bai Jixuan is really a coward; he should think twice about bringing a woman.”

“Ha, look, not only did he bring a woman, but he’s also supporting her quite intimately.”

Fang Qing jumped up and rushed to her sister.
