70: I can do it alone!
He wasn't the only one dissatisfied; several of his subordinates looked at Bai Wanning with clear hostility, like guard dogs wary of an outside threat.
"Shut up! What nonsense are you spouting?" Xie Yi's face instantly darkened upon hearing this. He quickly glanced at Bai Wanning, then said with a forced smile, "Boss, please don't mind him; he just has this bad habit of speaking without thinking."
Boss?
Wasn't Xie Yi their boss? Why would he call this woman 'Boss'?
"Boss? Brother Xie, what's going on?" someone asked in surprise.
"Don't call me Boss; call me Brother Xie," Xie Yi ordered with a stern face. "She is your Boss."
Everyone was stunned, and then Xie Yi briefly explained what had happened.
When they heard that this woman was here to lead them to steal supplies from Lord Zhou, they were all dumbfounded.
At the back of the crowd, a burly man with a scar on his face sneered, "Brother Xie, are you crazy? After spending a day with those monsters, you actually believed this little woman's idea?"
"She clearly wants to use our strength to plunder the warehouse, then throw us a few bones to send us away! If we're going to steal, we should take most of the supplies. Ten boxes are enough for her. Beautiful, this is much fairer, don't you think?"
Xie Yi's face instantly turned black upon hearing his words, and he roared, "Xiao Wu! What nonsense are you spouting? Miss Bai is my greatest reliance for returning safely! How dare you slander her like that?!"
The scar-faced man, however, stared at Bai Wanning disdainfully, his tone full of contempt: "Brother Xie, stop pretending. She's as thin as a stick. Do you think she can help you fend off those monsters, or do you expect her alone to deal with the well-trained desperadoes at the warehouse?"
"Besides her face, I really don't understand why you're so eager to hand over the supplies to her."
"A good woman should stay at home, cook for a man, and warm his bed. Little girl, you're more suited for that kind of work. Stop trying to be a hero. Since you're so afraid, why don't you come with me now? Let's stop playing games..."
Boom!
Before he could finish speaking, Bai Wanning had already rushed over, swinging her fist and landing a heavy blow on the scar-faced man's face.
Her movements were too fast; everyone hadn't even had time to stop her when they heard the heavy thud.
"Why don't you open your dog eyes and see how strong I really am?" Bai Wanning spoke coldly, her gaze as sharp as a blade.
As she spoke, she quietly formed a water shield inside her lower abdomen, securely protecting Bai Cai.
Despite being thoroughly enraged by Xiao Wu's words, she never forgot the most important thing: protecting the child.
"The girl is quite good at fighting," Xiao Wu sneered, stood up, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and stared coldly at the woman in front of him, his tone mocking, "But don't get too ahead of yourself; I just wasn't ready. You got lucky this time."
Bai Wanning curled her lips in disdain, her tone light and dismissive: "Then I'll give you plenty of time to prepare. Come find me when you're ready."
The coldness in her eyes was like a sharp blade, piercing directly into Xiao Wu's heart. He was instantly filled with rage, letting out a low growl and lunging at her, grabbing her arm fiercely, attempting to throw her to the ground.
But Bai Wanning reacted extremely quickly. She twisted her body, landed steadily, and was completely unharmed.
The next moment, she spun her body again, deftly forcing the scar-faced man to his knees.
Xiao Wu realized her intention and tried to struggle to his feet, but before he could stand, Bai Wanning kicked him in the knee, sending him sprawling to the ground.
Bai Wanning took a step forward, pressing her knee firmly against the back of his neck, then pulled out a dagger from her pants pocket, the cold blade almost touching the skin of the man's forehead.
"Next time you see a weak woman," her voice was low but carried immense pressure, "either help her or respect her, instead of spewing filth in front of her."
Xiao Wu gritted his teeth, still defiant, "You cheated. You clearly said it would be a fair fight, but you used a weapon. That doesn't count."
As soon as he finished speaking, Bai Wanning's wrist moved, and the dagger lightly grazed the skin above his eye socket. A trickle of blood immediately seeped out, and she let out a cold laugh.
"Then you tell me, is it fair for a man who is one meter ninety tall to fight a woman who is only half his age?" Her voice was sarcastic, and the dagger in her hand slowly moved down, the tip stopping at the edge of his eye socket. "You take your advantage, I take mine. Anyway, as long as one of us dies, that's all that matters."
As her words fell, Xiao Wu felt his whole body stiffen, a chill rising from his feet to his spine.
He knew this woman wasn't bluffing; she would really kill him.
"I surrender. Please let me go," he said in a low voice, a genuine panic in his tone for the first time.
Xie Yi, who had been watching the fight, finally breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Xiao Wu retreat. He had thought he was going to lose another brother today.
Although Xiao Wu had a bad temper, he was still a brother they had fought alongside. He didn't want to take his life over a dirty word.
He took a deep breath, stepped forward, and threw a piece of rag in front of Xiao Wu, "Wipe the blood. Don't cause trouble with every word you say. If you keep talking back, your mouth will be torn off sooner or later."
Xiao Wu didn't reply, only grunted lowly, lowering his head, and didn't apologize to Bai Wanning.
Bai Wanning naturally didn't expect him to apologize. She was here to get weapons and rare supplies, not to waste time on emotions with this group of ruffians.
Seeing the atmosphere ease slightly, Xie Yi gave Xiao Wu a helpless look, then took out a map of the factory.
He spread the map on a wooden crate, pointing to the markings on it as he explained, "Boss, this is what I drew before. This factory has a total of five escape routes. My last batch of weapons has already been transported there, so each exit has at least four to six guards.
"They all have guns. In the current situation, no one can say how many of these people are still human and how many have already turned into ghouls."
"The guards at the supply exit aren't as strict, and it's also the furthest from the main building. We can go from there..."
"I'll go alone." Thinking of the convenience of the invisibility talisman and space pocket, Bai Wanning quickly made a decision.
She had always been accustomed to acting alone and never relied on others. Since acting alone was more convenient and effective, there was no need to put others in danger.
"You'll go alone?" Xie Yi was stunned for a moment when he heard this.
He, of course, knew that this woman was skilled, but to infiltrate a heavily guarded enemy warehouse alone? That wasn't a problem of three or five people; it was thirty or more battle-hardened desperadoes.
"I'm used to acting alone," Bai Wanning said calmly, her tone carrying an undeniable firmness. "Besides, if we infiltrate together, we'll only alert the other side. You just need to take me to the warehouse; I'll handle the rest."
Xie Yi opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but she raised her hand to cut him off.
