466: Enhancement of the Law of Slaughter
Whatever environment it is in, it will undergo a transformation biased toward that environment.
The method Chen De was currently using was to migrate the yin extreme energy to the relevant projection of the Slaughter Law Profundity.
This would allow the energy of the yin extreme origin source to primarily act upon increasing his level of comprehension of the Slaughter Law Profundity.
Although some energy would still be consumed by other Law Profundities.
Human factors are greater than natural factors, and natural factors will weaken human factors.
This is an extremely common negative feedback regulation in the universe, referred to as weakening without canceling out.
The Dao of Balance lies within it.
Therefore, under Chen De's active guidance, most of the yin extreme energy acted upon the Slaughter Law Profundity.
When the volume of the yin extreme origin source shrank by one-twentieth, the Slaughter Law Profundity increased to two percent.
When the volume shrank by one-fifth, the Slaughter Law Profundity increased to three percent.
At a speed visible to the naked eye, Chen De's Slaughter Law Profundity was increasing at an astonishing rate.
Ordinary experts in the Immortal Law Realm might not even be able to increase a Law Profundity by one percent in a million years.
For Chen De, however, it was a breakthrough every few moments; such a speed would make anyone die of envy.
Four percent!
Five percent!
Six percent!
Finally, Chen De's comprehension level of the Slaughter Law Profundity stopped after reaching six percent.
It wasn't that he didn't want to continue increasing it, but... the yin extreme origin source had been used up.
The yin extreme origin source is extremely rare in the universe, produced only under very specific environments and moments.
Being able to obtain this much was already extremely difficult; in a mere half-quarter of an hour, he had completed a journey that took others millions of years.
With such a great harvest, Chen De had nothing to be dissatisfied about.
After finishing the absorption of the yin extreme origin source, Chen De stood up.
This absorption of the yin extreme origin source had taken him a total of three days and three nights.
The actual absorption only took half a quarter of an hour; the bulk of the time was spent on deducing the absorption method and the guidance method.
The moment he stood up, an illusion of a sea of blood faintly emerged behind him.
The stronger the cultivation and the higher the level of Law comprehension, the stronger the resonance with heaven and earth.
This phenomenon was not actively triggered by Chen De, but was naturally presented by this space.
During this period, there was not a single trace of Chen De's power involved; it was purely moving on its own.
Feeling the surging power within his body, his Law comprehension level alone was now comparable to the Yuan Chen he had converted.
Six percent Law Profundity... perhaps he should go find Grand Elder Third again for some tea and a chat about old times.
Grand Elder Third had been as gracious as a mountain to the Holy Mother under his command; as the Supreme Holy Mother himself, he had to show some appreciation no matter what.
But after some further careful consideration, Chen De chose to abandon this idea.
It wasn't because of Grand Elder Third himself, but because of the factor of the Grand Elder.
Divided by combat power among the three Grand Elders, the Grand Elder was the strongest, the Second Elder was next, and the Third Elder was after that.
Yuan Chen's strength was weaker than all three Grand Elders; after all, he was the latest to break through.
The one Chen De was most wary of was the strongest among them, the Grand Elder.
Yuan Chen wasn't clear about his specific strength, but he was definitely an expert at the second stage of the Immortal Law Realm.
The Nine Transformations of Immortal Law—each transformation is a stage, and the gap between them is even larger than the gap between major realms when Chen De was in the Lower Plane.
For example, some regions in the universe have given names to each of the Nine Transformations of Immortal Law.
From bottom to top, they are: Human Immortal, Earth Immortal, Heaven Immortal, True Immortal, Mysterious Immortal, Golden Immortal, Taiyi Golden Immortal, Daluo Golden Immortal, and Hunyuan Golden Immortal.
Some people felt the division was too ridiculous; was it necessary to divide a single major realm so finely?
Others felt the division was very reasonable; the gap between those in the Immortal Law Realm was truly large enough to cause despair.
As a low-to-mid-end galaxy, the Xichen Domain contained about seven hundred billion star systems.
The number of star systems under the nominal jurisdiction of the Zhengyuan Sect alone was as high as nearly ninety billion.
Most other Immortal Law forces basically only had twenty to thirty billion or thirty to forty billion star systems under their names.
Of course, most of these star systems were undeveloped, with basically no life-bearing planets within them.
It required humans to cut, transform, and move some planets into suitable orbits to initially meet the conditions for the birth of life.
Then, they would continue to artificially accelerate their development process, colonize them, and build relevant ecospheres and life societies.
After developing to a certain extent, they would need to start paying taxes. These taxes could be population, slaves, resources... Different planets were overseen by different experts, and their management styles could be worlds apart.
Some planets were clearly already very developed, yet they were still matriarchal societies, or slave-owner societies, or feudal societies... but the sects above didn't care about any of that, regardless of how you governed.
What I want is for you to govern well and just hand over the taxes.
The higher-ups would give a specific time limit; within this period, there was free development and tax exemption, but once the limit was exceeded, tax payments had to begin immediately.
No matter the situation or reason, taxes must be paid once the time is up. The annual tax is calculated based on the planetary volume.
Generally, the calculated amount won't be small; if it's less, you can keep the extra, but if it's more, you have to make it up yourself.
If you can't produce it, hehe... Besides this, the overseer enjoys supreme status and absolute rights on this planet.
The overseer of a planet is called a Planetary Governor, and above them is the Stellar Governor, who governs the various Planetary Governors within the star system.
The Planetary Governor of the first life-bearing planet in every star system often concurrently holds the position of Stellar Governor.
After all, most star systems don't have a single life-bearing planet, and then they have one.
Those with multiple are only a minority, basically all actively influenced by human factors.
In the major forces, there's an endless supply of land-clearing missions like this.
Of course, many disciples are quite willing to choose to govern a planet, acting as a local tyrant and living a carefree life.
And the resource supply for the super sects in the Xichen Domain basically comes from this—the taxes paid by the various star systems.
The Zhengyuan Sect has the most star systems under its name, so its tax revenue is the highest, and its resources are the most abundant.
For other top sects, two or three added together might not have as many star systems as the Zhengyuan Sect alone.
What does all this rely on?
Relies on Yuan Chen's strength?
That is far from enough!
The reason the Zhengyuan Sect can possess such a status is because they have the Grand Elder, a second-stage Immortal Law Realm expert, overseeing them.
As long as the Grand Elder remains for one more day, the sky of the Xichen Domain cannot be overturned.
Chen De ultimately chose not to make a move against Grand Elder Third, also out of concern for the Grand Elder's existence.
He currently had no way to gauge the gap between the two; he had to wait until he could meet him once.
One should not casually try to speculate on the thoughts of existences above oneself, because there are still many things in the world that one has not understood.
