573: The Great Ceremony of Saint Virtue
As for killing, Chen De never advocated it, no matter the time.
Even he himself had almost never done anything that involved taking a life.
Love is infinite!
Chen De always believed that there was no one he couldn't Influence with love, and no one he couldn't win over with morality.
As he hurried along, he did not forget to compile the Canon of Holy Virtue for the Holy Mother Sect.
There was no other way; who told him to be so moral? If he didn't do this, who would?
One Canon of Holy Virtue, telling of all the moral deeds throughout the ages!
...Upon arriving at Tianyou Pavilion, they entered without much process; after all, they were all on the same side.
As disciples of the Immortal Law Realm level, they enjoyed an unimaginable number of privileges.
“Greetings, Senior Brother!”
“Greetings, Senior Sister!”
“Greetings, Senior Brother!”
Wherever the three passed, all disciples with lower cultivation than theirs bowed in greeting, while those with similar cultivation exchanged nods.
Should they encounter those with stronger cultivation, it would be their turn to bow, but they generally didn't run into such people.
They headed straight to their master’s place—Sorrowful Disciple, one of the six great elders of Tianyou Pavilion.
Whether Sorrowful Disciple was actually sorrowful, Chen De didn't know, but he hoped the man wouldn't end up grieving in vain later on.
The three arrived at a domain on the Tianyou Continent; calling it a domain, it was actually about the size of a continent on Chen De's previous world, Earth.
Every member of the Tianyou Pavilion management had their own territory on the Tianyou Continent.
The six great elders were second only to the Pavilion Master, so their territories were also second only to his.
River of Forgotten Sorrows!
This was the name of their master Sorrowful Disciple's territory.
Arriving outside their master's cave dwelling, they bowed in unison toward the interior. “Disciples Yun Che, Su Chan, and Mo Xuan pay their respects to Master!”
“Master, we have returned.”
Rumble!
The gate of the cave dwelling slowly opened inward, and an aged voice drifted out from within.
“Come in.”
As the three walked inside, the gate slowly closed again.
From the outside, this cave dwelling looked no larger than a restroom.
But once inside, one would find that its internal space was far larger than the entire Tianyou Continent.
In fact, it could be even larger; making it comparable to a star system would be effortless.
However, there was no need; sometimes, being too large made things inconvenient.
Upon entering, the first thing that met their eyes was a continuous range of majestic mountains rising and falling.
They chose the smallest and most inconspicuous mountain among them to land on.
On this mountain sat a humble thatched hut.
A thin old man with a kind face was squatting in a yard enclosed by mud walls, chopping wood with a cleaver in his hand.
The appearance reflects the heart; generally speaking, if one does not intentionally present themselves as an old man, it means their state of mind leans more toward old age.
Regardless, in the Immortal Law Realm, one could not simply judge age based on appearance.
One hand straightened the wood while the other, holding a sickle-like blade, chopped down fiercely.
Thus, a thick piece of firewood became two.
He kept his head down, speaking in a gentle voice as he chopped, “You're back?”
“How did this trip feel? It was a bit quick; could the matter be resolved?”
His tone was just like that of an ordinary mortal toward their own children.
As the Senior Brother, it was naturally Yun Che's place to answer. “Master, when we arrived there, nothing was left. If we didn't know better, we might have thought there had never been anything there at all.”
“Afterward, through our investigation...”
“Alright, alright,” Sorrowful Disciple waved his hand, interrupting him.
He then pointed to the pile of firewood he had just finished chopping. “We'll talk later. It's enough that you've returned safely. Eldest, go and add this wood to the stove.”
“Yes, Master.” Yun Che picked up a bundle of firewood and ran to the earthen stove, adding them in one by one.
Sorrowful Disciple stroked his beard and looked at the remaining Su Chan and Mo Xuan. “You two, what are you still standing there for?”
Su Chan immediately said, “Master, I'll go cook a dish!”
Mo Xuan followed closely, “Master, I'll help you chop the wood.”
As he spoke, he smilingly took the wood-chopping knife from Sorrowful Disciple's hand.
His disciples were just as they had always been, without the slightest change.
As for their mission—their first mission after breaking through to the Immortal Law Realm—it was merely to go out and observe.
So the result wasn't important, but he still needed to know how they had fared. He would ask again later while they ate.
In all these years, Sorrowful Disciple had only taken these three disciples.
Although those in the Immortal Law Realm possessed eternal life and didn't need to worry about the issue of succession...
He still cared quite a bit about these three disciples.
So he made a momentous decision: he would personally cook a dish for this meal... “Oh, Master, I have to say, this dish you made can be described with one word: superb! Or two words: absolutely superb!”
Yun Che picked up a bit of a dish on the table with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth.
Before he even swallowed, his eyes lit up, and he gave Sorrowful Disciple a thumbs-up.
“Is it really that good?” Sorrowful Disciple shook his head and laughed, seemingly not quite believing what his disciple said.
So he also picked up a bit with his chopsticks and put it in his mouth.
On the other side, seeing this, Yun Che wanted to stop him, but it was already too late.
Sorrowful Disciple's expression suddenly changed, but he instantly returned to normal. He looked at the other two disciples, who hadn't started eating yet, and smiled. “Come, you all should taste your Master's cooking as well.”
Su Chan and Mo Xuan glanced at each other, smiled at Sorrowful Disciple, and picked up their chopsticks.
It was still that dish made by Sorrowful Disciple; the two of them each took a bit, put it in their mouths, and chewed carefully.
An excited expression appeared on Su Chan's face. “Delicious! This is simply the most delicious thing I have ever eaten!”
Even her eyes were sparkling, as if filled with countless little stars.
Slap!
Mo Xuan's reaction was even more exaggerated. He slapped the table with a loud thud. “How can there be such delicious food in this world? It's truly breathtaking; I can't help but strike the table in admiration!”
He swayed his head and uttered two simple words: “Absolutely superb!”
Regarding the reaction of the three, Sorrowful Disciple fell silent for a moment. “My disciples, do not lie to your Master. If you lie, your Master will be sad.”
“We aren't!”
The three spoke in unison, all declaring that they were not lying.
“I see!”
Sorrowful Disciple nodded and pushed the dish he had made toward the three of them, while moving the dish Su Chan had made in front of himself.
“Since it's so delicious, then you all should eat what your Master made.”
“It's fine for your Master; I'll just eat something ordinary. Master should leave the good things for his disciples.”
So Sorrowful Disciple began to eat. As he ate, he suddenly remembered something.
“Oh, right. When I was cooking, I was worried there wouldn't be enough, so I made a lot more—much more than Chan'er's. Don't worry about there not being enough.”
The three looked at the plate of food before them. Sometimes, it looks like three people are eating, but in reality, it is only one person eating.
