114: Let’s test our skills in the martial arts arena. Do you dare?

“Let’s go to the Martial Arts Arena now. Are your spirit stones ready? Don’t make me pay for you when the time comes,” Ning Shujie said menacingly.

This meant he was determined to have a match at the Martial Arts Arena today.

Feng Zhi wasn’t afraid: “You don’t need to worry about that; I have plenty of spirit stones.”

“Don’t brag. We’ll see the truth at the Martial Arts Arena!”

“Let’s go!”

The two then grandly walked towards the Martial Arts Arena.

The onlookers quickly followed, some even running to spread the word and call their friends to watch.

Wang Yi soon received the news as well.

“Brother Wang, Brother Wang, you’re here! I’ve been looking for you,” a friend who usually got along well with Wang Yi ran upstairs to find him, finally managing to knock on his door.

“What happened? Why are you in such a hurry to find me?”

Wang Yi opened the door. He had just finished showering and was wiping his hair when he heard a knock.

“Feng Zhi went to the Martial Arts Arena with someone! I heard they’re going to spar. You should go take a look!”

“What?!”

Upon hearing this, Wang Yi didn’t bother drying his hair. He threw down the towel, hastily put on his clothes and shoes, and rushed out.

“Have they reached the Martial Arts Arena yet?” Wang Yi asked as he went down the stairs.

“They should have arrived. I looked for you in the main hall earlier but couldn’t find you; they had already left by then,” the person said.

“This is bad; I need to hurry.”

Wang Yi was afraid that if he arrived late, Feng Zhi might get his legs broken. He knew Feng Zhi’s rudimentary skills well enough; one wrong move and he’d be out of commission.

Meanwhile, Feng Zhi and Ning Shujie had already arrived at the Martial Arts Arena. The person in charge of the Martial Arts Arena saw them suddenly appear and asked, “Are you two here to spar?”

“Yes,” Feng Zhi and Ning Shujie said almost simultaneously.

The person in charge didn’t expect anyone to come to the Martial Arts Arena to spar at this time, and two martial artists at that.

So he asked seriously, “Have you both thought it through? Are you sure you want to go to the Martial Arts Arena to spar? You have to sign a death pact before going up.”

“We’ve thought it through!”

Feng Zhi was the first to speak.

Ning Shujie was actually a little scared, but Feng Zhi was so decisive that he couldn’t back out. With so many people watching, he puffed out his chest and said with his head held high, “I’ve thought it through too!”

“Since that’s the case, each of you pay one hundred low-grade spirit stones, then come over and sign the death pact,” the person in charge said.

“Yes.”

Feng Zhi was still the first to follow, taking out his spirit stones.

Ning Shujie followed close behind.

The Martial Arts Arena allowed others to spectate, but to enter and watch, one also needed to pay spirit stones, two low-grade spirit stones per person.

“We still have to pay, should we go in and watch?”

“Of course, why not? It’s been a long time since anyone from the Beast Taming Bureau sparred here.”

“Right, it’s only two spirit stones anyway, just the cost of one meal.”

“I’m going too, I’m going too!”

“…”

Even though spectating required a payment of two low-grade spirit stones per person, quite a few people were willing to come. The final number of entrants reached forty-two.

This made the person in charge of the Martial Arts Arena grin from ear to ear.

It had been a long time since he had collected so many spirit stones.

As Feng Zhi entered the Martial Arts Arena, someone immediately came up to him: “Both parties in a match need to sign a death pact. Any objections? You can still back out now; once signed, you cannot.”

“No backing out, I’ll sign now.”

Feng Zhi was particularly calm now, while Ning Shujie, who had first proposed the match, was somewhat hesitant.

Feng Zhi readily signed his name on the death pact and even pressed his red handprint.

“Alright, Mr. Feng Zhi, your death pact is signed. This friend, we’re still missing your name,” the person said, seeing that Ning Shujie wasn’t picking up the pen, and reminded him.

Ning Shujie’s hand, holding the pen, was trembling. He was truly scared now.

But Feng Zhi wouldn’t let him off the hook: “What’s wrong? Wasn’t it you who first proposed coming here to spar? Now I’ve even signed, why are you hesitating?”

As he said this, the audience, waiting to watch the show, also chimed in:

“Exactly, why aren’t you signing? Hurry up and sign so we can start!”

“I’ve already spent my two spirit stones. If they don’t fight, wouldn’t I lose out big time?”

“Hurry up, don’t dawdle!”

Those watching the excitement didn’t care about the consequences. Whether Ning Shujie lost or Feng Zhi lost, it had nothing to do with them.

Moreover, they had even paid money to watch this spectacle.

“Okay, I…” Under pressure, Ning Shujie gripped the pen tightly, preparing to sign.

At this moment, a voice suddenly came from outside:

“Don’t sign!”

Everyone turned to look outside, only to see Wang Yi push open the Martial Arts Arena’s main door and rush in, shouting loudly, “Feng Zhi, don’t sign!”

Feng Zhi looked bewildered. He didn’t expect this matter to alarm Wang Yi, but Wang Yi was a little late: “Ah, but I’ve already signed.”

Wang Yi: ???

“You’ve signed? Where, let me see.” Now it was Wang Yi’s turn to look bewildered.

“Sir, you haven’t bought a spectator ticket yet, you cannot enter,” the person in charge of the Martial Arts Arena stopped Wang Yi. Wang Yi had rushed in suddenly earlier, and he hadn’t reacted because he was inside, but now he finally got a chance.

“Oh.” Wang Yi, now knowing that Feng Zhi had already signed, was no longer in such a hurry. He took out his spirit stones and handed them to the person in charge.

“Alright, you can take your seat in the spectator area shortly.”

The person in charge actually recognized Wang Yi. The Director’s personal disciple, who didn’t know him?

But unless the Director himself came, entry still required payment.

“Got it.” Wang Yi didn’t go directly to the spectator area but stayed here.

Ning Shujie saw Wang Yi arrive and became even more flustered than before.

“Brother Wang, I…”

Ning Shujie dared to be sarcastic towards Feng Zhi and dared to challenge Feng Zhi to spar at the Martial Arts Arena, but he didn’t dare to offend Wang Yi.

Although his thinking seemed somewhat contradictory, he was just that kind of person: a bully who feared the strong.

He was someone who picked on the weak.

Feng Zhi: ? Am I the weak one again?

“You don’t need to explain. Feng Zhi has already signed, what about you?” Wang Yi didn’t want to hear Ning Shujie explain. He didn’t even remember his name.

He had rushed in earlier because he was worried about Feng Zhi, but looking at the current situation, Feng Zhi still had the upper hand.

Moreover, Feng Zhi never fought battles he wasn’t confident in. Since he dared to sign the death pact, it proved that Feng Zhi was confident he could win this spar.

Therefore, as his friend, he wouldn’t interfere too much.

“I…” Ning Shujie stammered, unsure whether he should put pen to paper.

He had originally wanted to teach Feng Zhi a lesson, but that was under the condition that Wang Yi didn’t know about it.

Now that Wang Yi knew, what if Wang Yi had someone trip him up for some task in the Beast Taming Bureau later?
