135: Bingyan Office

“Don’t rush, let me explain slowly,” Ximen Chuifeng said.

He took out his small notebook and organized the information he had gathered.

He had been investigating the person behind Bao Hui for the past few days, so he had recorded a lot.

Today, he finally uncovered crucial information.

“Xiong Mao, you and Bao Hui have been rivals for many years, but you only recently noticed his unusual behavior, right?” Ximen Chuifeng asked Xiong Mao, holding his notebook.

Xiong Mao was startled, then thought carefully, and suddenly said, “Ah, you’re right.

Bao Hui wouldn’t have provoked me so high-profilely before, but recently he’s been targeting me relentlessly, to the point where even the Old Gang Leader couldn’t feign ignorance.”

“You mean, the reason Bao Hui suddenly became so arrogant is because he has a force backing him?” Zhuang Sanming quickly followed up.

Ximen Chuifeng looked at Zhuang Sanming with appreciation, nodded, and said, “Exactly.”

Then he frowned again, “I just didn’t expect the force he found to be from inside the Wall.”

“A force from inside the Wall? Could it be one of the Three Great Powers?!” Su Duo exclaimed.

When she was little, she had heard her parents mention the Three Great Powers within the Wall.

The strongest among them was the City Lord’s Mansion, followed by the Beast Taming Bureau and the Martial Artist Training Base.

These Three Great Powers formed a tripod, and any one of them alone could annihilate the entire guild Outside the Bastion.

However, the forces within the Wall generally didn’t interfere with the development Outside the Bastion, which is why these two sides had managed to coexist peacefully for so many years.

“Not at all,” Ximen Chuifeng denied Su Duo’s idea.

“Phew… that’s good, you scared me,” Su Duo said, patting her chest in relief.

If Bao Hui really allied with one of the Three Great Powers inside the Wall, what would happen?

Forget the Axe Gang, even the guild could be easily wiped out by them.

At that time, whether they could survive would be a question.

“But it’s an organization even more mysterious than the Three Great Powers,” Ximen Chuifeng said, finally getting to the main point.

“I followed Bao Hui’s trail and discovered that recently, besides visiting the guild’s intelligence department, he also went to an office inside the Wall.”

“An office?”

The other four all showed surprised and bewildered expressions.

They couldn’t even fully understand the Four Great Families, let alone some office.

“It’s a place that trains mercenaries.

Others can go there to place orders, paying money for mercenaries to handle tasks for them.

Murder, robbery, capturing people, or catching fierce beasts—all are within their scope of business.”

Ximen Chuifeng clarified the scope of the office’s business for them.

“Mercenaries?”

“Yes,” Ximen Chuifeng nodded slightly, but he still looked worried.

“After I found this office, I wanted to continue investigating to see what kind of deal they had made with Bao Hui, but no matter how I investigated, I couldn’t proceed further.”

“What do you mean?” Valley Master of Hundred Flowers Valley quickly asked.

“Every time I found a clue, the next second that clue would disappear.

This happened several times, and it seems there are no more traces left.

I only know that this is an office that trains mercenaries.”

“What is the name of this office?”

“Bingyan Office,” Ximen Chuifeng said.

“Bingyan Office? Have you heard of it?” Valley Master of Hundred Flowers Valley recalled carefully, but she couldn’t remember ever hearing that name.

“No,” Zhuang Sanming and the others all shook their heads.

“Are you sure there’s something wrong with this office?” Valley Master of Hundred Flowers Valley then asked Ximen Chuifeng.

“Absolutely something wrong,” Ximen Chuifeng trusted his intuition.

“I’ve been an intelligence dealer for so many years, and I can tell everyone frankly that this Bingyan Office is definitely not as simple as just training mercenaries.”

If it were just a simple office, why would they go to such lengths to eliminate all the clues he was tracking?

This behavior was far from normal.

However, such offices are inherently places where people pay for lives; those who place orders provide enough spirit stones, and the office dispatches mercenaries to act on their behalf.

Generally, these involve murder and robbery, and the things they do are inherently immoral and they treat human lives as worthless.

Besides this, what else could they be hiding?

“Since we can’t figure it out, let’s continue investigating,” Zhuang Sanming suddenly spoke up.

“We?” Xiong Mao pointed to his face.

“Yes, exactly us,” Zhuang Sanming scanned everyone’s faces and said, “Didn’t Uncle Ximen say that when he was tracking clues, they quickly disappeared?

Then if we investigate together, splitting up, they might not always be able to make us miss the clues.”

After he finished speaking, everyone present was stunned.

Especially Ximen Chuifeng.

For so many years, he had always investigated intelligence and gathered information by himself, because he had the ‘divine tool’ of the Crimson Flame Ant, which could spot clues in places others couldn’t detect.

But cooperating with humans… he had never done that before.

However, this was not impossible!

“What’s your plan? Elaborate,” Ximen Chuifeng was particularly interested now.

“Alright,” Zhuang Sanming smiled.

Fighting alongside friends always made him feel his blood boil… Xiao Family’s home.

This morning, he managed to get a bottle of train exclusive water.

He originally planned to divide it into three portions, but Zheng Jinfeng said she had already drunk some yesterday and wouldn’t drink any today.

So, Xiao Shen and Liu Ling’er each had half.

Now Liu Ling’er was at his home.

“Speaking of which, today seems to be the annual Grand Competition of the Four Great Families.

I wonder who will take first place this year?” Liu Ling’er had been thinking about this since this morning, somewhat distracted.

Xiao Shen saw through her thoughts: “I think it should be the Liu Family.”

“Ah? Why? The Liu Family currently doesn’t have any juniors who can rival the other three families, and Xiao Family’s… Xiao Yue’s level is so high, the Liu Family has no hope at all.”

Liu Ling’er said in annoyance.

“If you want to go back and participate, we can leave right now,” Xiao Shen said seriously.

Liu Ling’er suddenly straightened up, wanting to say something, but then changed her mind, “Forget it.

Since the Liu Family no longer considers me one of them, why should I bother with a thankless task?”

Liu Yancheng clearly didn’t care about her, the daughter left behind by his deceased wife.

Otherwise, why would he only demand that she, his eldest daughter, contribute to the family, but not mention the other two at all?

Liu Ling’er was utterly disappointed with her own father.

“Forget it, no matter what happens to the Liu Family in the future, it has nothing to do with me, their runaway daughter,” Liu Ling’er decided to let go of her obsession… PS: Special thanks to [Hero Greninja] for the character summon and Xiuer!! Thank you very much!!
