140: Chapter 140 The Beastmen Will Never Surrender

Qiao'ersai looked at the mountain of reports in front of him, feeling very troubled.

He was the Prime Minister of the Beast Race.

"Did the Lanyin Republic really just surrender like that?" Qiao'ersai asked, looking at the officer in front of him.

Qiao'ersai's true form was a male fox. Although he had assumed a human form, a huge tail still remained behind him. He rubbed his tail and sighed.

The Beast Race's homeland was already in a chaotic state. The Yao Beast Race and the Original Beast Race had joined forces, wanting to overthrow the Spirit Beast Race's rule and even proposing to establish their own independent nations. In fact, they had been arguing fiercely about this three thousand years ago, but at that time, the Human Race launched a great war, and the external conflict suddenly resolved the internal ones.

Since everyone was of the Beast Race, they should be fighting the Human Race now. With this mindset, the three Beast Races, who had been arguing for nearly ten thousand years, suddenly reconciled and declared war on the Human Race.

However, after the war ended, the internal conflicts gradually resurfaced. Qiao'ersai himself was from the Yao Beast Race, but he had always firmly believed that all Beast Races were one family.

The Lanyin Republic was a country of the Fluorescent Clan. The Fluorescent Clan was a group with strength equal to the Beast Race, and they were caught in the middle between them and the Human Race.

During the First Star Sea War, this group defended the Beast Race against a large number of Human Race warships, but in doing so, they exhausted their entire younger generation, and anti-war sentiment within the country was strong.

Qiao'ersai had thought that if the Human Race sent troops again, the Fluorescent Clan would certainly not put in as much effort as they did in the last war.

But he really did not expect that after only seven days, the Fluorescent Clan would announce their surrender.

"So, you're saying the Human Federation's fleet is now parked at the border of the kingdom?" Qiao'ersai asked the officer in front of him.

"Yes, Your Excellency the Prime Minister!" the officer replied. "Currently, the kingdom's Fourth Fleet and Sixth Fleet are in a standoff with the Human Federation's fleet, and the situation is not very good. They have been separated by the Human Federation's fleet and are now at risk of being annihilated at any moment, but it seems the Human Federation fleet has no intention of attacking us."

"At the same time, the Human Federation has sent a peace negotiation invitation to you, Prime Minister, hoping you will accept." The officer handed Qiao'ersai a paper envelope and said, "This is a personal letter from the Prime Minister of the Human Federation."

Qiao'ersai took the envelope and frowned.

He opened the letter and carefully read the contents.

"Dear Your Excellency Qiao'ersai, I am the current Supreme Prime Minister of the Human Federation, Lin Heng. I am very pleased that you are willing to open this letter."

"I imagine that by the time you read this letter, our Human Federation warships should already be parked at the border of the Beast Race Kingdom."

"Although our fleet has surrounded your fleet, I hope you will not misunderstand; we have no malicious intent."

"As you know, in the great war three thousand years ago, the Giant Rock Race invaded our homeland, so the purpose of provoking this war is not for aggression, but merely for revenge."

"We are willing to give up three trade routes in the Lieyun Star System and four routes within the Fluorescent Clan to the Beast Race to express our sincerity."

"Finally, I hope the Human Federation and the Beast Race Kingdom can become eternal allies!"

At the Beast Race Kingdom's parliament.

Six hundred councilors were arguing noisily at this moment. The High Speaker sat high on one side, constantly tapping the gavel in his hand, but it was of no use.

Qiao'ersai lit a cigarette and looked at His Majesty the King on the high platform on the other side. The King had already closed his eyes at this moment and was not watching the argument among these councilors.

Qiao'ersai did not speak but just quietly looked at the letter on the table.

The reason these councilors were making such a racket was precisely because of this letter.

He was not listening to what these councilors were arguing about; he just felt that he had been set up by the old Prime Minister.

Qiao'ersai came from a military background and was responsible for military logistics during the First Star Sea War. It was the old Prime Minister who strongly recommended him to be Prime Minister one hundred years ago.

"Thinking about it now, that old guy must have foreseen this situation today." Qiao'ersai gave a bitter smile. He also wanted to go and question that old guy, but that guy had passed away ten years after stepping down.

The cigarette burned out, and Qiao'ersai pulled another one out of his pocket.

"I invite the Prime Minister to speak!" said the High Speaker.

Qiao'ersai was stunned for a moment, his hand holding the cigarette frozen in place.

Weren't they arguing fiercely just a moment ago? Why did all the councilors' gazes suddenly turn to him?

"Lord Qiao'ersai, smoking is prohibited in the parliament," the High Speaker said with a chuckle.

Old guy! Qiao'ersai sneered in his heart as well.

The High Speaker had always been at odds with him. Logically speaking, this High Speaker was the strongest contender for Prime Minister, but it was because of the old Prime Minister's strong recommendation that he became the current Prime Minister.

And he had not demonstrated that superior, extraordinary ability. Precisely because of this, many people in the parliament looked down on him.

He could now hear people secretly laughing in quite a few places.

"Apologies, Speaker." Qiao'ersai put the cigarette away and scanned the parliament: "Sorry everyone, I don't have any thoughts. I think this news came too suddenly, and we need more time to think."

After speaking, Qiao'ersai sat down and closed his eyes as well.

The noise of these councilors arguing came from all around again.

Let them argue, let them argue; it's truly annoying.

The parliament didn't decide anything. No one dared to make a final decision—not the Speaker, not the King, and he didn't dare either.

But no matter what, they had to give the Human Federation an answer.

Lin Heng, what a troublesome guy for the beasts, Qiao'ersai sighed.

The next day, the King convened the parliament as usual.

"Prime Minister." The driver opened the car door and bowed to him.

Qiao'ersai waved his hand: "No need. I heard the newly opened Route 10086 has a stop that goes directly to the parliament. I'll take that today. I want to see the public's reaction to the Human Federation."

"Yes, Prime Minister."

Looking at the driver's respectful gaze, Qiao'ersai felt inexplicably uncomfortable. What he had just said was actually a lie; he just didn't want to go to the parliament, thinking he could delay it for as long as possible.

Watching the ship slowly approaching, Qiao'ersai walked in with a cigarette in his mouth.

There weren't many people, as it was a newly opened route.

Qiao'ersai patted his pockets a few times—no fire!

The flame to light the cigarette was created by a special Formation, which could better bring out the flavor of the cigarette. However, if it really came to it, lighting it with Spiritual Qi was not impossible.

"Sir, can I borrow a light?" Qiao'ersai went over with the cigarette in his mouth to borrow a light.

This was the real taste; cigarettes lit with Spiritual Qi were only smoked by those dogs.

"Oh my god!"

Suddenly, Qiao'ersai heard the male beast who had just lent him the light let out an exclamation.

Only then did Qiao'ersai notice that everyone around him was looking at him.

"Prime Minister!" someone nearby said, looking at him.

"It's the Prime Minister!"

Everyone was looking at him, hoping he could say something.

Being looked at by so many people, Qiao'ersai felt like he couldn't smoke properly anymore.

Looking at the eager gazes of these citizens, he knew what they were expecting.

Qiao'ersai stood in the middle of the ship's aisle, the cigarette still in his mouth, the smoke rising slowly from his lips.

The gazes of all the surrounding passengers were gathered on him—there were veteran Beast Race soldiers, female beasts dragging their cubs, and several spiritual energy technicians wearing work uniforms.

He took the cigarette from his mouth, his voice not loud, as if he were chatting with each person individually.

"If I said that if we negotiate peacefully with Your Excellency Lin Heng now, we could obtain some very favorable conditions, and we wouldn't have to make any sacrifices, what would you think?"

Qiao'ersai had just finished speaking when he heard the Beastmen on the entire ship speak up without hesitation.

"Absolutely not!"

Qiao'ersai looked to the other side of the ship.

Those Beastmen all looked at him and said: "Absolutely not!"

"Absolutely not!"

Even a little kid who had not yet reached Mahayana cultivation looked at him and shouted: "Absolutely not!"

"But the Beast Race of today is not the Beast Race of the past. Our fleet might not be as advanced as the Human Race's, and the quantity might not be as large as theirs," Qiao'ersai said. "If we agree to Your Excellency Lin Heng's treaty, we don't have to pay any price."

"The Beast Race never surrenders!" the child who had not reached Mahayana cultivation looked at him and said.

Hearing this, Qiao'ersai was stunned. A strange emotion rose in his heart; he felt his nose sour, and he even wanted to cry.

He walked toward that child; it was a little kitten, not even fully transformed into human form.

He gently picked up the little kitten and asked: "Child, what did you just say?"

"The Beast Race never surrenders!"

"Are you not afraid?"

"Afraid?"

Qiao'ersai held him, slowly turned around, and looked at his compatriots on the whole ship: "Are you all not afraid?"

"Not afraid!"

In the parliament.

"I invite the Prime Minister to speak!"

Listening to the High Speaker's words, Qiao'ersai slowly stood up and lit a cigarette.

"Prime Minister, in the parliament it is prohibited..."

"Shut your mouth! What are you chattering about?" Qiao'ersai lit the cigarette and looked at that councilor, saying: "I am the one speaking now!"

He blew out a smoke ring: "I know you are all wondering what we should do now. My answer is only one..."

"That is to declare war on the Human Federation!!!"

"Even if most places in the entire Star Sea have already or may fall under the rule of the Human Federation, and even if the Human Federation's fleet covers the sky and blocks out the sun, we will absolutely not surrender or fail."

"We will fight the evil Human Federation to the last moment. All fleets, give it your all!"

"We will fight in the Lanyin Republic, we will fight in the endless Star Sea, we will fight in the alternate dimensions!"

Qiao'ersai threw the documents in his hand into the air: "We will defend our kingdom at all costs!"

"We will fight anywhere, but there is absolutely no possibility of us surrendering!"

Finally, Qiao'ersai scanned all the councilors present and shouted, practically roaring.

"We, the Beast Race, never surrender!!!"

The entire parliament was in an uproar.

Many councilors also followed Qiao'ersai's example, throwing the documents in front of them into the air and shouting loudly.

"The Beast Race never surrenders!"
