2: Chapter 2 Hunting
"Awoo~"
Lu Hu lay listlessly on the ground, his tiger face showing the weariness of time.
Three days. Tiger Dad had been missing for three days, and his scent in the jungle was gradually fading.
He had actually been abandoned by Tiger Dad.
Was this some kind of joke? He was just a bit of a big eater; how could Tiger Dad not afford to raise him?
That shouldn't be the case; this territory wasn't lacking in animals.
With just a little effort, Tiger Dad could catch enough food for the daily needs of two adult male tigers like them.
Because of this, Lu Hu had been freeloading here... or rather, cultivating Tiger Dad's survival skills.
Besides, this was still Tiger Dad's territory. As a male tiger in the prime of his life, how could he just leave his own domain?
Did he not care about his dignity anymore?
"Awoo~"
Could it be that after staying with him for so long, Tiger Dad had lost his dignity as well?
My dear old father, you're a male tiger! How could you leave your territory so silently?
Lu Hu was very sad. He was abandoned by Mother Tiger at one year old when he was still growing, and now at two and a half—the prime age for enjoyment—his old father had heartlessly chosen to run away from home!
How could my life as a tiger be so smoo—ahem, difficult!
Heavens, I'm so pitiful. Someone please save this child!
"Awoo~"
Lu Hu stood up from the ground. Sadness aside, he had to solve the problem of his hunger quickly.
Lu Hu's first thought was to find Mother Tiger; his unreliable old father had wasted all his filial piety.
But he still had his old mother. He hadn't seen her for over a year and didn't know if Mother Tiger's survival skills had grown rusty.
It was a good time to go back and check on her, and perhaps further cultivate Mother Tiger's survival experience.
Mother Tiger's territory was too far away; he couldn't go there on an empty stomach.
After thinking it over, Lu Hu decided to hunt first to fill his belly before visiting his old mother.
Lu Hu extended his tiger paw. With a shink, his thick and sharp claws popped out. His claws were very clean and much larger than those of an ordinary tiger.
By Lu Hu's estimation, the claws were about fifteen centimeters long. When they extended from his paw, the five claws were like five sharp daggers, glinting with a cold, sinister light.
It shouldn't be that difficult, right?
After seeing his own claws, Lu Hu's confidence grew significantly.
After some thought, he lay down on a patch of dry grass.
His orange fur blended perfectly with the ground and the dry grass. If one didn't look closely, it was truly hard to tell a tiger was there.
Hunting required patience. Lu Hu waited quietly for prey to arrive, looking very serious. His breathing became faint; he had entered the zone, and his camouflage was quite excellent.
Time passed slowly. Gradually, a gray rabbit arrived to graze, nibbling here and chewing there.
Hopping along, the rabbit slowly shifted its position. Suddenly, a world-shaking beastly roar rang out.
Only then did the rabbit discover that right in front of it, a tiger was lying in the grass fast asleep. The sound it made left the rabbit's entire body paralyzed with fear.
In that instant, the rabbit's heart pounded wildly, and fear filled its brain. Once the paralysis wore off, the rabbit fled for its life.
Bang!
Panicked and not looking where it was going, the rabbit slammed headfirst into a tree. After its body twitched a few times, it stopped moving.
"Awoo~~"
Lu Hu woke up dazed and looked confusedly at the stiff gray rabbit not far away.
Where did this rabbit come from?
Wait, no.
Lu Hu suddenly jumped up from the grass. He was supposed to be hunting, but he had actually fallen asleep.
As expected, it was because he had given all the hunting opportunities to Tiger Dad to help him improve his survival experience.
And yet, Tiger Dad still abandoned him.
Lu Hu was indignant.
What a tragic tiger life!
Lu Hu walked over to the rabbit that had killed itself and batted it a couple of times.
Although there wasn't much meat, it was enough for a couple of bites.
Crunch, crunch~~
In just a few bites, the rabbit was devoured by Lu Hu.
After rinsing his mouth at a nearby stream, Lu Hu continued hunting.
This time, he gave up on ambushing; that method made him too sleepy.
Lu Hu went east. Before long, he spotted a large sounder of wild boars. Over thirty adult boars formed a circle, protecting the piglets in the center. There were many piglets and half-grown boars; a quick glance suggested there were at least dozens of them.
The leader of this sounder was massive, with long, black bristles. Its two tusks were as large and terrifying as bayonets. It was about the same size as Lu Hu, but its round, stout body meant the Wild Boar King's weight far exceeded Lu Hu's. This was a Wild Boar King weighing at least seven hundred catties.
Lu Hu recognized this Wild Boar King. After all, they lived in the same territory. Tiger Dad usually avoided this Wild Boar King when hunting, which was enough to show its strength.
However, Lu Hu wasn't that afraid. Because he often had to castrate them to ensure the boars were lazy, grew fat, and their meat didn't taste gamey.
He dealt with this pig often. It was stupid and couldn't catch him.
After many encounters, Lu Hu wasn't very afraid anymore.
Lu Hu appeared openly. Based on his past experience of teasing the sounder, if he showed up directly like this, the sounder would scatter in all directions, and the Wild Boar King would start chasing him.
Once he shook off the Wild Boar King, he could look for the boars he had castrated before, which were now grown and had non-gamey meat.
"Roar!"
Lu Hu let out a tiger's roar, and as expected, the sounder of boars scattered.
"Oink~~"
Upon seeing Lu Hu, the Wild Boar King's eyes instantly turned red. It charged forward recklessly; clearly, its resentment toward Lu Hu had reached its limit.
Lu Hu turned and ran. He was much faster than the Wild Boar King and soon left it far behind.
"Awoo~"
But what frustrated Lu Hu was that it seemed like a few days ago, while the Wild Boar King was mating with a sow, his tiger roar had scared it into having... problems.
The now-impotent Wild Boar King held a grudge and chased him relentlessly. Even if it couldn't catch him, it refused to give up.
He was being doggedly pursued by such a troublesome creature.
Lu Hu jumped onto a tree. Below, the Wild Boar King panted heavily, its eyes fixed on him, occasionally charging to ram the tree.
Lu Hu's gaze fell on the Wild Boar King's lower body, and he thought to himself...
It shouldn't have any lasting effect, right? Only this breed of pig tasted good; he hoped the "equipment" wasn't broken.
Perhaps his meaning was too obvious, as the Wild Boar King became even more violent, shaking the large tree violently with its impacts.
"Roar~" (It's just a bit of impotence, is it really worth fighting so hard?)
Lu Hu was frustrated; this pig had truly gone mad.
Yes, you're a Super Wild Boar King.
But he was also a gifted male tiger.
To dare to go head-to-head with him like this, it really was insane.
"Roar~~"
Lu Hu didn't want to fight. He growled low, hoping to use his voice to bring the Wild Boar King back to its senses.
Bang!
The Wild Boar King didn't react and continued to stare at him intently.
"Roar~"
Lu Hu grew impatient. After a roar, he jumped down from the tree.
Just as the Wild Boar King was about to charge, Lu Hu suddenly accelerated. With a whoosh, dust filled the air, and Lu Hu appeared over a hundred meters away.
Lu Hu didn't slow down. Only a yellow blur could be seen racing through the forest. After a few breaths, Lu Hu had completely left the Wild Boar King in the dust.
Only then did Lu Hu slow down to look for the scattered sounder. Soon, he found a half-grown boar weighing about a hundred catties.
Its shriveled lower body proved it was a high-quality, castrated specimen with non-gamey meat.
"Roar~"
Lu Hu's eyes lit up. He charged forward and was soon running side-by-side with the boar. Then, Lu Hu gathered his strength and accelerated for a side-swipe.
Bang!
"Oink~~"
The boar instantly collapsed, rolling several times on the ground and letting out a scream filled with terror.
"Awoo~" (Sorry, sorry, really sorry.)
Lu Hu stood there apologizing. When the boar got up to run, he quickly ran over and gave it a slap.
"I'm terribly sorry, but I'm hungry. I have no choice."
Bang!
A section of the boar's head instantly caved in, and it began to stagger as it walked.
Lu Hu walked up to it and raised his paw for another slap.
Bang, bang, bang!
This wasn't an adult boar, so its defense wasn't that monstrous. After Lu Hu's continuous slaps, the boar's head was severely deformed, bleeding from its facial orifices, and it was beaten to death by Lu Hu.
"Awoo~" (I forgot to use my claws. My bad!)
After killing the boar, Lu Hu finally remembered that he had forgotten to use his claws to attack.
The boar had been beaten to death by the pain.
Sigh!
Lu Hu apologized a few more times and then prepared to eat.
"Oink——!"
The Wild Boar King had charged back.
Seeing this, Lu Hu picked up the boar in his mouth, quickly chose a thick tree, and leaped up in a few bounds.
The entire process was smooth and fluid. The hundred-catty boar in his mouth didn't affect Lu Hu in the slightest.
"Buddy, have some."
Lu Hu ignored the murderous Wild Boar King below. He tore off the pigskin and threw it down, then began munching on the boar meat in the tree, evaluating it as he chewed.
"Not as delicious as the ones Tiger Dad catches."
