20: Chapter 20 Moving House, Wild Boar King Submits
General Hei possessed extremely high intelligence; the more Lu Hu learned about him, the more he felt like a human.
He slept under a blanket, ate cooked food, and could even use a spatula to stir-fry dishes. Apart from his appearance, his lifestyle habits were exactly like those of a human.
It was a bit eerie, but communicating with him was much easier than with Tiger Dad. Lu Hu took out ten cubic meters of spirit soil, planted the green lotus seed inside, and instructed General Hei to look after it well.
Afterward, Lu Hu ran back and forth between his territory and the sinkhole every day, while also preparing to move to the valley connected to the sinkhole.
That valley had a nice environment and was adjacent to the sinkhole, making it easier to guard the green lotus.
Lu Hu took stock of the belongings he needed to transplant: one Tiger Fruit Tree, nine spirit ginseng, and ten cubic meters of spirit soil. The remaining items, like Ginseng and lingzhi, were ordinary objects that didn't need transplanting; he just dug them up to harvest them and farm mission rewards.
After packing up, digging out the Tiger Fruit Tree, and collecting all the spirit soil and spirit ginseng, Lu Hu moved to the valley with Tiger Dad. He also took Tiger Dad through the passage into the sinkhole to introduce him to the new spiritual plant, the green lotus.
There was still some bad blood between Tiger Dad and General Hei, but under Lu Hu's mediation, although the two sides fought, they didn't resort to lethal force.
As long as they didn't try to kill each other, Lu Hu didn't care how they fought. He cleared a medicinal field in the sinkhole and planted both the spirit ginseng and the Tiger Fruit Tree there.
He then took out the remaining twenty cubic meters of spirit soil and sowed the seeds of four types of spiritual herbs: spirit ginseng, tuckahoe, mountain essence, and divine lingzhi.
Lu Hu planned to plant spiritual herbs in the sinkhole, while the valley connected to the sinkhole would be used to grow ordinary medicinal herbs on a large scale to farm seeds for spiritual herbs.
"Since this is my territory, the valley shall henceforth be called Tiger King Valley, and as for the sinkhole, Tiger King Sinkhole."
Lu Hu named the two territories, then took Tiger Dad and General Hei to clear land and search for seeds in Tiger King Valley.
After absorbing a wisp of the Qi of Creation rewarded by the system, he was better able to perceive the thinness of the spiritual energy in the world.
Lu Hu had a premonition that after breaking through one or two more times, the spiritual energy he could refine from practicing in this world every day would be negligible. To continue cultivating, he would need to rely on the spiritual herb seeds rewarded by the system.
With the system, planting ordinary medicinal herbs could yield spiritual herb seeds; this was a very stable path for cultivation.
Large-scale planting was necessary!
Lu Hu did his best to teach Tiger Dad and General Hei the planting methods for four types of herbs: Ginseng, he shou wu, lingzhi, and tuckahoe.
Lu Hu did not use spirit fertilizer to accelerate the growth of ordinary plants again. The planting area was gradually expanding; if he used spirit fertilizer to accelerate growth, he wouldn't have enough spirit coins to support the consumption.
After the main quest opened, Lu Hu planned to use most of his spirit coins on the five special spiritual items required for the main quest.
Occasionally, he would use spirit coins to accelerate the harvest of tiger fruit to serve as cultivation resources.
Ordinary herbs just had to be left to mature over time. Although some herbs took several years to be considered mature, as long as he planted them every year, he could harvest them every year in the future and farm system quests for spiritual herb seeds every year.
If he suffered a bit in the beginning, he wouldn't lack cultivation resources in the future.
...
In the blink of an eye, two months had passed, Tiger King Valley.
The Wild Boar King, with his massive size and ferocious appearance, had a crude plow hanging from his shoulders.
Lu Hu followed behind, a vine whip tied to his tail. If the Wild Boar King walked too fast, *crack*, he got a whip; if the Wild Boar King walked too slow, *crack*, he got another whip.
The Wild Boar King's eyes were full of resentment, but he dared not resist, and could only plow the land and clear the fields with all his might!
"Awooo~" (Put some effort into it! If you don't plow an acre of land today, I'll use your brother-in-law to fill my stomach!)
Lu Hu urged him on from behind, waving the vine whip.
"Awooo roar~" (You could plow an acre and a half the day before yesterday, so why can't you even manage one acre today!)
"Awooo roar~" (Little Boar, a pig must have some ambition. Work hard, and in the future, this King will appoint you as the Pig Marshal, in charge of all the pigs in the world!)
"Awooo roar roar roar roar~~~" (If you don't work hard, this 'Pig Marshal' position will go to another pig! Little Boar, you wouldn't want to see your future harem of three thousand tender sows being ridden by other boars, would you?)
...
Between threats and temptations, using both kindness and severity, it was hard to tell if the Wild Boar King truly understood or if Lu Hu's vine whip was just that intimidating, but the Wild Boar King really started working hard again.
Lu Hu watched from the side, satisfied.
Over these two months, he had taken Tiger Dad and General Hei to clear land in the mountains, tend to the medicinal fields, and go out to search for herb seeds.
After several days in a row, while eating a wild ox caught by Tiger Dad, Lu Hu realized that while Tiger King Valley was great in every way, the only downside was that there were no large herbivores nearby, only some wild rabbits, so food resources were not abundant enough.
Therefore, Lu Hu planned to drive a herd of herbivores to live near Tiger King Valley. When he saw Tiger Dad about to hunt the Wild Boar King, an old acquaintance, Lu Hu stopped Tiger Dad.
The Wild Boar King was a breeding boar he had specifically selected back when he wanted to eat castrated pork.
He had raised it, after all, so he felt a bit reluctant to just kill it like that.
In agrarian societies, people used oxen to plow fields.
Then there shouldn't be any problem with him using a pig to plow fields, right?
Thus, Lu Hu stopped Tiger Dad from killing the pig. At first, Tiger Dad was unwilling, but after seeing Lu Hu force the Wild Boar King to plow the land, Tiger Dad had no objections and his gaze towards the Wild Boar King became much kinder.
He also hated tilling the soil. Being the largest, he did the most work; weeding and tilling were inevitable, and it was very dirty. Every time he finished tilling, he had to soak in the water for half a day.
With the Wild Boar King joining, he could be relieved of the drudgery of tilling, so how could he not be friendly toward the Wild Boar King?
The Wild Boar King did not disappoint with his bulk; he plowed and cleared land with ease, saving Lu Hu a lot of effort, and his mind was becoming increasingly agile.
Lu Hu estimated that before long, the Wild Boar King would be able to evolve on his own, just like an ox or a horse, capable of working without needing to be whipped.
Furthermore, the Wild Boar King's advantages didn't end there; he also managed a super-large herd of wild boars. Whenever Lu Hu wanted to eat pork, the Wild Boar King would proactively select healthy pigs to offer up.
Moreover, the Wild Boar King knew that he only ate castrated pork without the gamey smell. Whenever there were piglets in the herd, without even needing Lu Hu to lift a finger, the Wild Boar King would use his tusks to castrate the little piglets.
Being able to help with work and voluntarily sacrifice clan pigs for food—where could one find such a good pig!
Where else could one find such a good pig!
Hmph-snort~~~ Hmph-snort~
After the Wild Boar King finished plowing the land, he took off the plow from his back and ran over to Lu Hu.
Lu Hu nodded; he was becoming more and more self-aware. The day he became a qualified beast of burden shouldn't be far off.
Lu Hu took out a bag wrapped in leaves; these were epimedium seeds.
The day before yesterday, when he, Tiger Dad, and the Black Beast went out to collect seeds for Ginseng and other medicinal herbs, they accidentally discovered a large patch of epimedium.
This herb was also one of the system quest items, and discovering it in such large quantities was a pleasant surprise.
After transplanting the epimedium, he had managed to collect this bag of seeds.
"Awooo~" (Work hard, the position of Marshal will be yours sooner or later.)
After handing the seeds to the Wild Boar King, Lu Hu encouraged him some more.
Hmph-snort~ Hmph-snort~
The Wild Boar King held the seeds in his mouth and turned to dig holes to plant the herbs. The epimedium seeds were very small, and although the Wild Boar King's movements were already cautious, they still appeared quite clumsy, but fortunately, it didn't affect the planting!
Lu Hu put away the vine whip on his tail; he probably wouldn't need to use it to urge him on in the future.
