25: "I have finished what I have to say. Who agrees? Who disagrees?"
After the public trial in Darwin City, where the Avengers tore apart the U.S. Military, many people in the former municipal office building's conference hall were in a state of unease.
They were all important figures in Darwin City.
Among them were the current Mayor Cohen, Police Chief Buleidun, the President of the Court, the Prosecutor General, important city council members, and the heads of various parties within the city.
They weren't here voluntarily; rather, since the night the chaos began, they had been kidnapped by a mysterious group and held captive here.
They weren't entirely ignorant of the current situation either.
Although imprisoned, their captors had turned on a television for them to watch live broadcasts of the unrest in the streets outside.
That entire night, these high-ranking officials were uneasy, discussing the identity and intentions of their captors.
It wasn't until shortly after dawn that the guards showed them two more videos, which delivered a revolutionary mental shock to them.
The first was a video of the U.S. military base being occupied, smashed, looted, and burned by rioters in the latter half of the night of the unrest.
The second video showed a public trial held in broad daylight in Darwin City's central square!
The core content of the public trial, besides Mazza Ha's anti-colonial remarks, was the scene of the Avengers tearing apart several U.S. Military soldiers.
The cruel methods, the bloody limbs, the bestial revelry... made all those watching feel unwell, with many bending over and vomiting, almost bringing up their gallbladders.
Then, anger surged from the chests of these people.
"Mazza Ha, that bastard, does he know what he's doing?"
"Doesn't he know that such actions will bring disaster upon himself?"
"Once this public trial is exposed, the American military's retaliation will surely arrive like a tsunami!"
"It's one thing for him to court death himself, but he's dragging the entire Darwin City down with him—"
The anger of the crowd overshadowed their fear, and they finally knew who was manipulating the situation behind the scenes.
It turned out to be Mazza Ha, that fellow with an unremarkable position in the Indigenous Party.
Just as they were cursing Mazza Ha, the door to the conference hall was pushed open.
Mazza Ha himself strode in, a smug smile on his face, looking down at everyone.
"Gentlemen, have you been well?"
Immediately, this sparked a new wave of anger among the crowd, and they all began to accuse him:
"Mazza Ha, you scoundrel, release us quickly; there might still be some leeway."
"Mazza Ha, you lunatic, you won't come to a good end!"
"Where's Tula Suo? Tell him to come see us—"
Unexpectedly, Mazza Ha's expression suddenly changed.
He pulled out a pistol and fired a shot at the ceiling.
The entire conference hall immediately fell silent.
Mazza Ha's furious roar followed:
"Shut up, you corrupt bourgeois elements, enemies of the common people, vampires! Only violence can make you insects obey!"
"If it weren't for 'that adult's' leniency, you would have already met the same fate as those U.S. Military soldiers!"
Everyone recalled the television footage they had seen not long ago, remembering the scene of tearing living people apart, and their faces all turned pale, not daring to utter a sound.
Finally, a slightly bolder person meekly asked:
"Mazza Ha, what is your intention in capturing us and confining us here?"
"Is this your personal decision, or Tula Suo's?"
Upon hearing the name Tula Suo, Mazza Ha's eyes flashed with disdain; he ignored the question, stepped aside, and respectfully stated to the entrance of the conference hall:
"Master, they are all being obedient now. You may come in."
Then, a man about 1.80 meters tall, wearing a strange smiling mask, walked in.
Closely following him was a tall, curvaceous woman, also wearing a mask, seemingly a guard.
The man in front leisurely sat down in an armchair, while the accompanying woman stood by his side.
"I am Mazza Ha's spiritual mentor."
"You may ask me questions now."
"But it's best to get to the point; don't ask meaningless questions."
Although the crowd was fearful, their curiosity was even greater, and they immediately barraged him with questions:
"Who are you, and what is your intention in doing these things?"
"Where is Tula Suo? Are you part of the Indigenous Party?"
"Why did you capture us and imprison us here?"
"When can we be released..."
The Masked Man raised a hand, stopping the crowd from asking further questions, and stated:
"Alright, I will answer your questions in order."
"However, if my answers are not to your liking, I hope you are mentally prepared."
—
The Masked Man, of course, was Fang Le.
He gathered these former high-ranking officials of Darwin City not to protect them, but because they had utilitarian value.
For those with utilitarian value, one must, of course, use courtesy before force.
So Fang Le answered each of the questions posed by these people.
"First, who I am is not important; what I want to do is far more worth discussing than my identity."
"And what I want to do was actually revealed by Mazza Ha in his speech before the public trial."
"Because his entire speech was written by me."
What?
All the bigwigs present were shocked.
One person interrupted, asking, "So, your intention, as stated in that speech, is dissatisfaction with the white people's colonial rule here, and you're thinking of rebellion, is that it?"
"Are you crazy!"
It must be said, this guy said one too many words, courting death.
Fang Le frowned, stopping his narration.
Mazza Ha, standing beside him, decisively raised his gun and fired a shot at the man. A large bloody hole immediately appeared in the man's chest, and he slowly fell to the ground.
After a moment of suffocation, all these important figures collectively screamed in terror.
Some even wet their pants.
Mazza Ha raised his hand and fired another shot, roaring, "Everyone shut up—"
Then the scene fell silent again.
Fang Le felt satisfied.
It must be said, this Mazza Ha is very useful.
Actually, Mazza Ha wasn't this useful from the start.
When he first came into contact with him, he was mostly suspicious of Fang Le.
Then Fang Le promised to help the indigenous people achieve revenge against the American military.
Mazza Ha only submitted after seeing Fang Le actually accomplish these things.
Of course, the main reason was that Fang Le used the well-known revolutionary ideas from his hometown to indoctrinate and baptize Mazza Ha, leading to Mazza Ha's initial awakening.
After killing one person, no one dared to interrupt haphazardly again.
Fang Le picked up a tissue to wipe the blood spatters from his hand and continued to speak unhurriedly.
"So, my entire intention is to seek justice for the indigenous inhabitants who have been oppressed and exploited for hundreds of years, and to uphold justice for more people who suffer discrimination and unfair treatment."
"Of course, you can also understand it as rebellion."
"Next question, am I a member of the Indigenous Party?"
"No, the organization I represent transcends secular parties."
"As for Tula Suo, he is still alive, but he is still under observation and cannot come to see you."
"Finally, why I have kept you here, and when I will let you go."
Fang Le: "I am keeping you here out of leniency, to protect you from being torn apart by the anger of the people."
"Otherwise, you wouldn't be gathered here talking to me, but rather, according to Mazza Ha's wishes, you would all be pushed onto the high platform in the center of the square to face public denunciation."
"Of course, I'm not protecting you for nothing; I want to reach a cooperation with you."
At this moment, Mayor Cohen couldn't help but ask, "What kind of cooperation?"
Fang Le: "It's very simple. You were all important figures in this city. You held high positions and had widespread influence."
"I want you to continue your previous work and keep the entire municipal system running."
Cohen and the others instantly understood what was happening.
Rebellion is easy, and occupying an entire city is not difficult.
But what then? You still have to govern, right?
It would be strange if the common people who rose to power through force knew how to maintain the city's operations.
Fang Le finally spread his hands, looking around at everyone.
"I have finished speaking."
"Who agrees?"
"Who objects?"
