71: The Eagle Sauce troops were defeated and withdrew from Darwin City!

Aris frowned, extremely displeased with the staff officer.

"What's so surprising about the American military breaking through?"

Everyone knew that once the U.S. Military again brought in (non-nuclear) powerful weapons and deployed them on the battlefield, that would be the moment the war officially ended.

Aris didn't care about the international community's humanitarian judgment of him afterward; he only cared about the victory at this moment, which could also alleviate the humiliation from previous failures.

And the Anti-War Army high command must have also realized that when the U.S. Military used (non-nuclear) powerful weapons, it would be their doomsday.

Therefore, a breakthrough by the Anti-War Army overnight was imperative.

If Aris were the Commander of the Anti-War Army, he would do the same.

At the very least, like cornered beasts, they would fight to the death, intertwining the battle lines to create a situation where 'you are in me, and I am in you,' so that the U.S. Military would have reservations when using (non-nuclear) powerful weapons.

But—

Aris snorted coldly.

How could I not be prepared for this from you?

Would the defensive lines I painstakingly built on the front be so easily breached?

Those densely interwoven firing points, even I was afraid to look at them. Your Anti-War Army's heavy firepower is limited now, so what makes you think you can go head-to-head with me?

Unexpectedly, the staff officer said with panic and doubt:

"Commander-in-Chief, the front line is in critical condition and is asking for reinforcements, requesting permission to retreat!"

What?!

Aris was first startled, then furious.

"What a joke, asking for reinforcements? What kind of reinforcements? Do they need reinforcements even with such good defensive lines?! Have they been beaten senseless by the Anti-War Army before?"

And, they even requested a retreat.

How long has it been since the American military broke through—15 minutes? And they're already requesting a retreat?!

The staff officer: "This... you'd best go to the command hall and see for yourself; it's already a chaotic mess there."

Aris had no choice but to follow him to the command hall.

Upon arriving, he found all the command post officers and soldiers bustling about in a frantic hurry.

"Hello, hello, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Battalion, this is Command, please continue what you were saying, hello—"

"4th Regiment, 4th Regiment, the long-range fire support you requested is on its way, we hope your unit holds the current defensive line..."

"'Enemy as terrifying as a demon'? What terrifying enemy are you talking about, hello, hello?!"

Aris's arrival didn't even attract anyone's attention.

He was also bewildered and asked the staff officer: "This, what exactly is going on?"

The staff officer: "I can't say for sure. From scattered intelligence, the Anti-War Army seems to have deployed a new combat method, or new equipment... it's too hard to explain verbally."

"This is the last recorded footage from one of our People's Army officers' combat recorders. Please take a look—"

Soon after, Aris watched the video.

It seemed to be footage of the U.S. Military defending and fighting inside a building.

In the video, some American military was stubbornly breaking through the U.S. Military's various defensive offensives, including bullets, grenades, and Molotov cocktails.

The recorder and his comrades were in a panic, retreating one after another, their mouths full of incoherent babble, the fear in their voices palpable even through the screen.

And finally, that terrifying American military, stepping through the raging flames, raised the Gatling machine gun in his hand... the recorder and others were shot, and the video cut off.

Aris fell silent.

Although this recording was very chaotic, and the camera kept shaking.

But undoubtedly, the one who finally emerged from the fire was a very terrifying American military.

The staff officer added: "According to various reports, the Anti-War Army has deployed this type of soldier on all engagement lines."

"They are almost impervious to bullets, explosions, and burning."

"Moreover, they are all tall and strong, capable of single-handedly holding a dozens-of-kilograms M134 machine gun, firing easily, and unafraid of the machine gun's recoil."

"They push forward at the front, with other Anti-War Army soldiers following behind, able to capture our previously painstakingly built strongholds and fortresses with almost no cost."

"And the American military's advance speed is too fast, causing our long-range fire support to either miss or lose its target."

"By the time I just reported to you, about one-third of our People's Army's frontline core positions had already been lost."

Aris was still in shock.

What, what was that thing in the video?

It looked like a human.

But what human could withstand the direct impact of bullets, and also be impervious to fire and explosions?

The first thing Aris thought of was some kind of biochemical warrior.

Biochemical warriors are not afraid of death or pain.

But they shouldn't be impervious to explosions, right?

Could it be normal human soldiers wearing some kind of high-tech equipment?

Ah, I understand?!

It's some kind of full-body external armor, it must be!

But, can such equipment truly be manufactured in this era?

The staff officer's call brought Aris back from his contemplation.

Staff officer: "Commander, what should we do? Should we let the front line continue to hold, or—"

Retreat.

But the staff officer found it difficult to say this directly.

Aris gritted his teeth and finally said: "Retreat, let the city's defenders withdraw along the entire line, but pay attention to an orderly retreat. During the retreat, the advantages of the strongpoints must still be utilized; we cannot let the American military occupy the positions for free without losing a single soldier!"

Aris ordered a full-line retreat.

The staff officer breathed a sigh of relief, and everyone in the command hall also breathed a sigh of relief.

They were not fighting on the front lines, but they could discern the terrifying nature of the Anti-War Army's offensive from the communications.

However, Aris then issued a new order: "The city's defenders will withdraw, and the rear forces will advance. When our People's Army forces have largely withdrawn from the city, conduct a large-scale bombardment of the city's outskirts to prevent the American military from leaving the city!"

Let the Anti-War Army defend the urban area.

As long as our People's Army's (non-nuclear) powerful weapons are in place, hmph, no matter what high-tech external armor you have, it won't withstand thousands of degrees of high temperature!

Just as Aris breathed a sigh of relief, a base guard came to report that someone insisted on seeing Aris in person.

Hearing that person's name, Aris couldn't help but feel curious.

That guy?

Why does he want to see me again?

The person Aris met shortly after was none other than Australia's Member of Parliament, Pearson.
