132: We're here to join in.
"Dalong, Xiaolong, you two just watch. Don't get involved in the fight. Take pictures as evidence," Old Chen Tou said, turning to his two sons.
Seeing Old Chen Tou's unyielding attitude, Brother Dao also got angry. He narrowed his eyes slightly and sneered, "Do you think I really wouldn't dare to make a move?"
Old Chen Tou seemed to be as stubborn as a mule. He glanced at Brother Dao and said, "Come on if you have the guts, you coward."
"You old geezer, what did you say? Are you looking for death?" The younger brothers behind him, seeing their boss being insulted, all raised their weapons and cursed back.
They expected to scare Old Chen Tou, but he remained completely unfazed, calmly saying:
"A barking dog doesn't bite."
As soon as these words were uttered, all the thugs present were instantly enraged. Brother Dao's face turned purple, and he slowly said:
"Old Chen Tou, I see you used to be a tough guy. I'm giving you some face, but don't think you can really push your luck."
At this point, Brother Dao raised the iron rod in his hand, pointed it at the Chen family (father and son) opposite him, and roared, "Go, beat them up! Beat them hard!"
The younger brothers behind him had long been impatient. At Brother Dao's command, a group of them immediately pounced forward like rabid dogs.
Dalong and Xiaolong, behind Old Chen Tou, were not afraid in the slightest. They silently charged out from behind, instantly getting entangled with a dozen or so younger brothers.
Although these younger brothers looked imposing, they didn't gain any advantage when facing Dalong and Xiaolong.
Dalong and Xiaolong knocked down several of them with a few consecutive punches, and the iron rods hitting them only made them pause for a moment, having no other effect.
Brother Dao rushed forward with the others, his eyes fixed on Dalong. Seizing an opportunity, he struck Dalong on the head with a rod. Immediately, blood burst from Dalong's head and flowed down his cheek.
Dalong cried out in pain. The blood flowed into his eyes, temporarily blinding him, and several younger brothers took the opportunity to beat him fiercely with iron rods.
"Brother!"
"Dalong!"
Old Chen Tou and Xiaolong cried out in concern, rushing towards Dalong.
Behind them, Sun Jinghua's fists were clenched, full of anger. Beating someone like this in broad daylight was something he, as a police officer, couldn't accept.
"Brother Ye, let's make arrests."
Ye Lin said calmly, "Arrest what? What's the point of arresting for a fight? Keep waiting. If the Chen family (father and son) are in danger, we'll make a move. For now, let's blend in."
With that, Ye Lin rushed towards Xiaolong's line of charge, pretending to be hit by Xiaolong's punch. He did a backward somersault and fell to the ground, feigning unconsciousness.
Sun Jinghua, behind him, watched this familiar and fluid maneuver with his mouth agape. "Holy cow, you can do that?"
Ye Lin, lying on the ground, gave him a look, urging him to hurry up.
Poor Xiao Sun also tried to rush over, but he was more honest and didn't grasp the essence. He was punched in the right cheek by Xiaolong, which instantly swelled up.
He cried out in pain and conveniently fell beside Ye Lin.
Ye Lin next to him cast a scornful glance, as if mocking his lack of professionalism.
Sun Jinghua really wanted to cry. "I'm here to catch thieves, not to act like one!"
As the saying goes, two fists are no match for four hands. Although the Chen family (father and son) were brave enough, over time, they were no match for these thugs, especially Brother Dao, who specialized in finding opportunities to strike dirty blows.
Xiaolong's calf was also hit by a rod, leaving him limping. He was then surrounded by several younger brothers and beaten to the ground.
Only Old Chen Tou remained. He was also fierce enough, wielding two short sticks, striking left and right, and managed to knock down three more. However, his strength eventually gave out, and he was knocked to the ground by Brother Dao, taking a blow to the head.
"You old geezer, how dare you injure me." Brother Dao stomped hard on Old Chen Tou's head, grinding his foot.
Old Chen Tou let out a pained cry, "Ah—" Large beads of sweat seeped from his forehead, mixing with the blood on his face, adding a tragic touch to Old Chen Tou's pained and distorted expression.
Seeing Old Chen Tou's suffering, Brother Dao seemed to feel a bit better and lifted his foot.
"Tie them up for me," Brother Dao shouted.
Immediately, several younger brothers who had been lying on the ground all stood up, as if they had just been sleeping.
"Damn, they were all faking it?" Sun Jinghua looked shocked.
"That's called a way of survival, not faking it. How many people do you think are willing to die for this? Just enough is enough," Ye Lin lectured.
Then he pulled Sun Jinghua up, and they both stood up, joining the other thugs to tie up the Chen family (father and son).
Brother Dao took a stool and sat in the middle of the courtyard. As soon as he sat down, he saw Ye Lin and Sun Jinghua standing to the side.
Brother Dao looked at his younger brothers with confusion, then at the two of them, and said, "No, I mean, who are you two? How did you get in here?"
Seeing Brother Dao speak, Ye Lin quickly walked over ingratiatingly, "Brother Dao, I'm Lin Zi, and this is my brother Hua Zi. We're from out of town. We heard we could make money by following you, so we thought we'd come and join in."
"Brother Dao, we also joined in when these three were fighting. Look at my brother, his face is all swollen," Ye Lin pulled Sun Jinghua over and pointed to his face, which had been swollen by Xiaolong.
Brother Dao had a bewildered expression, "No, you two came from out of town, then saw us doing business, and just followed us in and started fighting?"
"Yes, Brother Dao. My brother and I are from a small place, we don't understand the rules. Please teach us more," Ye Lin pulled out the pack of Huazi cigarettes from before, quickly tore it open, offered one to Brother Dao, and then diligently lit it with a lighter.
Brother Dao took the cigarette, frowned, and said to the younger brothers behind him, "Did you guys let these two in?"
The younger brother at the entrance reluctantly stepped forward, smiling apologetically, "Brother Dao, we just thought these two were a bit interesting. You see, they're quite sensible."
"Interesting? Heh heh. Being sensible is useful?" Brother Dao reprimanded the younger brother.
"We're not gangsters, and we don't usually recruit people. But seeing as you two helped out, just follow me for now." Brother Dao gestured for Ye Lin to light his cigarette, and Ye Lin quickly and diligently scurried over to light it.
Brother Dao took a puff of his cigarette and motioned for Ye Lin to stand aside for now.
Then he sat on the chair, crossed his legs, and looked arrogantly at the three kneeling men, speaking unhurriedly:
"Old Chen Tou, how about it, do you submit or not?"
Old Chen Tou snorted coldly and turned his head away, his face full of defiance.
A fierce glint flashed in Brother Dao's eyes. Just as he was about to pick up the iron rod to strike again, a figure suddenly darted out.
Slap!
A kick directly sent Old Chen Tou to the ground, and then he was straddled and subjected to a fierce beating. It was Ye Lin.
This sudden turn of events made Brother Dao feel awkward about making a move, so he could only put down the iron rod resentfully.
Sun Jinghua, as an accomplice, was still stunned on the spot, staring blankly, not understanding what Ye Lin was doing. "We're here to gather information, not to act like hooligans!"
