Chapter 73 Wen Huilin, who hates heaven and earth

"Lawyer Zhou, Chen Ang bought a bentley today for 4.5 million. There's also a Land Rover for 1 million. He used the Company's money. Does this count as transferring assets?"

After Attorney Zhou Zheng received this text from Wen Huilin, his eyes lit up. He didn't reply to the message but called her directly.

His voice was deeper than when they were at the law firm, and he spoke more slowly, as if weighing his words: "Ms. Wen, who is the purchasing entity for the two cars you just mentioned?"

"Antai Leasing. My best friend says it's a newly registered subsidiary of Hengxing Investment."

"Is Chen Ang the legal representative?"

"Tan Xiaolei."

Attorney Zhou Zheng was silent for a few seconds. "Based on your description, these two cars are registered under the Company's name, and the purchase funds came from the Company account. Legally speaking, this constitutes Company asset allocation, not Chen Ang's personal consumption."

"If you want it to be classified as transferring marital assets, you need to prove that Chen Ang is the actual controller of Antai Leasing and that he purchased these cars for personal use rather than for Company operations."

"He is definitely the actual controller, absolutely. That Tan Xiaolei is his good friend, just like Chen Zhuo; they are both people close to him." Wen Huilin explained, grinding her teeth.

"What about evidence?" Attorney Zhou Zheng's voice remained steady. "Can you prove that Tan Xiaolei is just a figurehead? Can you prove that Chen Ang is actually the one driving these two cars?"

Wen Huilin was rendered speechless and could only remain silent.

Attorney Zhou Zheng knew the state this woman was in; he had handled many similar cases.

"You just said he drives a bentley. If you can take photos to prove that the bentley is used by Chen Ang for his daily personal use, that can corroborate the commingling of Company assets and personal assets."

He paused, his tone softening, as if to confirm she had understood.

"However, the purchase record alone is not enough to constitute concrete proof of asset transfer. Only by capturing photos, combined with the previous fund trails, can you hope to persuade the judge."

Wen Huilin let out a long breath. "Okay, Lawyer Zhou, I understand."

"Ms. Wen, I will emphasize this one more time. What you need most right now is evidence that Chen Ang actually controls these companies and actually uses these assets. Before you have concrete evidence, do not be impulsive, and do not alert him. Once you expose your intentions, he will only hide deeper."

Attorney Zhou Zheng spoke earnestly, guiding Wen Huilin patiently.

"I understand." After saying these words, Wen Huilin hung up the phone.

Of course she understood; she had already endured for so long, she didn't mind enduring a little longer.

Even so, her fingers gripping the phone were tense.

The taxi arrived at the destination quickly.

After paying the fare, she took Chen Zetian by the hand and arrived at the entrance of Suiyuan Restaurant.

Looking up, what came into view was a Chinese-style courtyard gate.

With green bricks and grey tiles, a wooden plaque hung above the gate, engraved with two characters: Suiyuan Restaurant.

Two palace lanterns hung under the porch, casting a warm yellow glow upon the stone steps.

This was one of the best private kitchen restaurants in Bin City. It had always been synonymous with high-end, a gathering place for celebrities and the wealthy; ordinary people simply couldn't book a private room.

In the seven years of her marriage, she had dreamed of coming here for a meal, because just posting about it on social media would be enough to show off for a month.

She hadn't expected that Chen Ang would actually be able to book a place that was so unattainable for ordinary people.

Wen Huilin felt as if snakes and insects were gnawing at her heart; her eyes were rimmed with red, filled with hatred.

He was clearly so capable, yet he kept hiding it. She had followed him for seven years, living like a dog—what kind of life was that?

Wen Huilin swore that she would reclaim everything that belonged to her.

"Mom, this place is so beautiful."

Chen Zetian's voice interrupted her thoughts. She collected herself, turned around, and stroked her son's head. "Xiaotian, if you like it here, Mom will bring you often in the future."

As she took her son's hand and prepared to enter the Suiyuan Restaurant, which countless socialites and influencers in Bin City dreamed of entering, a beam of snow-white headlights shone from not far away.

She curiously shielded her eyes to look. She saw a silver-grey luxury car slowly pulling up in front, the black, winged 'B' on the front particularly eye-catching.

A bentley Continental GT.

Wen Huilin recognized it. Was it the one Chen Ang had just bought?

Her gaze lingered on the driver's side, watching the person who opened the door and got out.

In the traffic, Chen Ang rested one hand on the steering wheel and looked at Shen Pianran in the passenger seat. "Have you contacted the divorce litigation team?"

Shen Pianran nodded. "The materials have all been given to them, and they have already started organizing the evidence." As she spoke, she turned to look at him. "When will you meet them?"

"Let's wait until the materials from Tu Yuandong's side come out. There's no point in meeting now; the core evidence isn't in place yet."

"Indeed. Now that Wen Huilin has Attorney Zhou Zheng defending her, she certainly won't admit to having any subjective intent to defraud. Therefore, key evidence is very important."

Shen Pianran looked at Chen Ang apologetically, the expression on her face clearly showing helplessness.

Chen Ang chuckled softly. He could feel the sense of self-reproach in the woman's tone beside him. He glanced at her. "Don't worry, Yu Liang is already investigating Tu Yuandong."

Shen Pianran didn't answer but waited for Chen Ang's explanation.

"Nickname is being watched by the economic crime investigation department, and the materials regarding the flow of funds between Tu Yuandong and him will be available in a day or two. As soon as Tu Yuandong is summoned, the chat records between him and Wen Huilin can be retrieved."

Chen Ang looked relaxed. As he spoke, he looked at her again. "Also, regarding your witness recantation case, Tu Yuandong is highly likely suspected of bribing witnesses and interfering with judicial justice; it's all connected."

"So that makes us even?" Shen Pianran let out a slight sigh of relief.

She had guessed earlier that her case had been implicated because of Chen Ang.

Chen Ang was taken aback. After thinking for a moment, he laughed, "The two of us belong to a community of interests; we cannot be separated."

Hearing this, Shen Pianran smiled, feeling her ears get a bit warm. She immediately turned her head quickly to look out the window.

Ten minutes later, the bentley stopped downstairs at the residential complex where she lived.

When she pushed the car door open, she turned back and said, "Wait for me a moment."

Chen Ang nodded, turned off the engine, rolled down the window, and lit a cigarette.

When Shen Pianran came out again, she had changed out of that dark grey suit.

She wore a dusty blue cashmere coat over an off-white turtleneck sweater. Her hair was not pinned up as usual but was left loose, with the ends slightly curled, draped over her shoulders.

She pulled the car door open and sat in the passenger seat, bringing in a faint and familiar scent of cold pine.

Chen Ang couldn't help but glance at her.

He had known Shen Pianran for so long; she had always worn suits and shirts. He had never seen her dressed so casually, so he couldn't help but look for a little longer.

"What are you looking at?" Shen Pianran fastened her seatbelt, looked ahead, and asked softly, "Do I look good?"

"Nothing... you look quite good." Chen Ang coughed, put out his cigarette, and started the car.

"If you've seen enough, let's talk business. When I meet Wen Huilin later, what kind of woman should I act like?" Shen Pianran asked, blinking her eyes. "Do you want me to act like a 'green tea'?"

Chen Ang couldn't help but laugh. "You think this is a short play? Just be yourself."

Shen Pianran covered her mouth and chuckled, turning to watch the traffic receding quickly outside the window.
