38: Chapter 38 Escape Route
Su Yue hugged Gu Yanchen worriedly: "A-Yan, be careful, I'll be here waiting for you to come back."
Gu Yanchen hugged her back, wanting nothing more than to knead her into his own body so he could keep Su Yue by his side at all times.
"What time do you think it is, and you're still flirting. Hurry up, I'm going with you." Lian Boyu spoke up sourly, making him want to fall in love too.
Gu Yanchen let her go, gave her a deep look, then carefully opened the door and followed the corridor to search for the escape route.
Along the way, they avoided a few wandering zombies and finally arrived at the entrance of the passage.
However, the passage door was locked.
"We're in trouble now." The nurse tried to use a tool to pick the lock, but it was to no avail.
Just as everyone was in a predicament, the nurse suddenly thought of a method: "Perhaps we can use the surrounding items to make some noise and distract the zombies."
So, they found some metal implements and started banging them to create noise.
Sure enough, the nearby zombies were attracted over.
Taking advantage of the gap while the zombies were distracted, Gu Yanchen and Lian Boyu quickly ran to the door and used all their strength to ram it open.
They successfully entered the passage; it was pitch black inside and filled with a foul odor.
"Hurry up and follow!" Gu Yanchen called out, looking back.
Everyone followed closely behind, nervously groping their way forward.
Suddenly, a low roar came from ahead, and a huge figure appeared before them.
Everyone squinted to look and saw a giant Mutated Zombies blocking their path. Its skin was green, its muscles were bulging, and it exuded a foul stench.
"This guy is not easy to deal with!" Lian Boyu gritted his teeth and said.
At this moment, Gu Yanchen took out the handgun from his pocket, aimed at the head of the Mutated Zombies, and fired continuously. The bullets hit its body but only caused minor damage.
Lian Boyu was intrigued, stepped forward, and touched the gun: "Not bad, you actually managed to get a handgun!"
Gu Yanchen gave him a cold glance, feeling a bit fortunate; it was thanks to the gun Su Yue had given him.
The Mutated Zombies roared and lunged at Lian Boyu. Gu Yanchen grabbed him by the collar, threw him to the side, and engaged in a fierce battle with the Mutated Zombies.
Lian Boyu said with lingering fear: "Thanks!"
Gu Yanchen couldn't be bothered to pay attention to this idiot; he didn't even know to dodge when a zombie came.
He brandished the dagger in his hand, continuously stabbing at the zombie's vital points. However, the strength of the Mutated Zombies was too great, and Gu Yanchen gradually fell into a disadvantage.
"Let me help you out!" Lian Boyu shouted, rushed forward, and joined Gu Yanchen to fight the Mutated Zombies.
Lian Boyu held an iron rod and smashed it hard against the leg of the Mutated Zombies.
The Mutated Zombies felt the pain and turned to lunge at Lian Boyu.
Gu Yanchen took the opportunity to circle behind it, raised his dagger, and stabbed at its neck.
However, this strike did not deal a fatal wound to the Mutated Zombies; instead, it enraged it.
It roared wildly and lunged at Gu Yanchen again.
At the critical moment, Dr. Xia arrived with the others; they all picked up weapons and joined the fight.
With everyone's joint efforts, the Mutated Zombies finally fell into a pool of blood.
Gu Yanchen panted heavily, looking at the dead Mutated Zombies, and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Let's leave here quickly!" He said loudly.
Everyone nodded, followed him through the passage, and continued to advance toward the safe area.
Everyone jogged along and soon arrived in front of a door.
"This should be it." Gu Yanchen said while panting.
He reached out and pushed the door open; a strong light immediately shone in, making it impossible for people to open their eyes.
"It's the exit! We're finally out!" Someone shouted excitedly.
Everyone walked out of the building and arrived at the plaza outside.
At this time, the sun had already risen, and the warm sunlight sprinkled on everyone, making them feel incomparably relaxed and happy.
"This time was really too dangerous, but fortunately, everyone is safe and sound." Dr. Xia said.
"Yes, thanks to everyone's unity and bravery." Gu Yanchen nodded and said.
"Baldy, how did you know we were in the escape route?" Lian Boyu asked the question in his heart.
Dr. Xia said: "I was leading everyone to escape when I discovered there were people inside the Operating Room. I went in and saw it was Su Yue and the others. It was Su Yue who asked me to come over to help you."
"So that's how it is. This time, it's all thanks to Su Yue." Lian Boyu was filled with gratitude.
"Let's not talk about this for now; we should hurry and find other survivors." Dr. Xia reminded.
Gu Yanchen was worried about Su Yue and his mother, so he said to everyone: "We have found the escape route, you all go out to safety first; I'm going back to pick up Su Yue and the others."
Lian Boyu said: "Right, Baldy, you take everyone and go find the other survivors first; we are heading back now."
"Thanks for everyone's help; hope we meet again."
Everyone nodded one after another and started searching the plaza.
Suddenly, a shout came from afar. Everyone looked in the direction of the sound and saw a group of people walking toward them.
"It's survivors!" Someone shouted in surprise.
Gu Yanchen and Lian Boyu quickly returned to the Operating Room along the original escape route.
