44: Chapter 44 Escape
"A-Yan, what's wrong?" Seeing his furrowed brows and gloomy expression, Su Yue couldn't help but tense up.
"It's nothing, they've all left." Gu Yanchen gently stroked her soft long hair, his eyes full of doting affection: "Baby, you must be exhausted today. Go get some rest early, I'll keep watch."
Let him handle the troublesome matters; Su Yue just needs to be happy.
"I'm not a pig!" Su Yue gave him a coquettish glare, her voice soft and sweet, making one want to tease her.
Hearing him say that the Mercenaries had left, the heart that Su Yue had been holding finally settled, but she still didn't dare to completely relax, because she had a strong premonition that those people would come back.
"Anyway, I can't sleep right now, let me keep watch with you." Su Yue said softly.
Gu Yanchen nodded, gently took her hand, and the two sat quietly on the balcony, enjoying this moment of tranquility.
The night at the Villa was exceptionally quiet, with only the rustling sound of the breeze gently blowing through the leaves. The moonlight shone down, illuminating their faces, as if draping them in a layer of silver gauze, mysterious and hazy.
As time ticked by, Su Yue gradually began to feel sleepy; her eyelids started to droop, and her head unconsciously rested on Gu Yanchen's shoulder.
Gu Yanchen looked at her with heartache and gently pulled her into his arms so she could sleep comfortably.
Su Yue's fluffy little head rubbed against him as she found a comfortable position to sleep.
Just then, a faint sound of footsteps broke the silence of the night.
Gu Yanchen raised his head alertly, his gaze scanning the surroundings sharply, and he picked up Su Yue to hide behind the curtains.
"A-Yan, is someone here?" Su Yue woke up with sleepy eyes, raised her little head, and asked in a soft, sweet voice, like a little kitten.
"Yes, stay hidden here, I'll go out and see." Gu Yanchen gently stroked her head and carefully set her down.
As he walked, Gu Yanchen pulled out the handgun from his pocket, gripping it tightly in his hand, ready to deal with any potential danger.
Su Yue clutched the corner of her clothes, feeling very uneasy. She didn't know whether she should follow him to check, yet she was afraid of causing unnecessary trouble for Gu Yanchen.
On the other side, Lian Boyu tiptoed and pushed open the door; the room was pitch black, without a sliver of light.
He wondered if he had found the wrong room again? After all, he had checked all the rooms on the second floor and hadn't found Su Yue.
That unreliable guy Gu Yanchen had tossed him a key and told him to find a guest room on the first floor to stay in. He had been quite happy at the time, thinking he could finally choose a spacious and comfortable room.
However, after touring the entire first floor, he found only one pitifully small room left. Lian Boyu was very disappointed with this result; he believed that with his handsomeness and charm, he really shouldn't be living in such a cramped space.
So, he decided to go upstairs to look for Su Yue.
As soon as Lian Boyu stepped into the room, he felt a cold object pressed against the back of his head. He raised his hands in terror, realizing it was likely a gun, and said nervously: "Gu Yanchen, don't be impulsive! A gun is nothing to joke about; if you're not careful, it could go off."
Gu Yanchen ignored his words and instead coldly questioned: "Did I warn you not to come to the second floor?"
Lian Boyu was frightened and at a loss, quickly explaining: "I couldn't find you, so I had to come upstairs to find Su Yue. I really didn't mean anything else."
Gu Yanchen didn't seem to believe his explanation and continued to threaten: "If you dare to move again, I'll shoot."
Hearing this, Lian Boyu panicked completely and shouted loudly: "Su Yue, come save me! Gu Yanchen is going to kill someone!"
"Shut up!" Gu Yanchen scolded coldly, "If you yell again, I really will shoot!"
Lian Boyu immediately quieted down; he didn't want to gamble with his own life.
"What are you doing coming to the second floor in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?" Gu Yanchen demanded.
"I... I came to look for you." Lian Boyu said tremblingly.
Gu Yanchen sneered, "Do you think I'll believe your nonsense?"
At this moment, Su Yue walked out from her hiding spot, "A-Yan, put down the gun; it's possible he really came to look for you."
After speaking, Su Yue gave him a wink.
Gu Yanchen glanced at Su Yue and slowly lowered the gun in his hand.
"Oh my god, you scared me to death. You two are really something, my life was almost gone." Lian Boyu patted his chest, his tone full of resentment.
Su Yue asked: "What did you come to find us for?"
"Speaking of which, I am extremely angry. You two are really unkind, actually making me stay in such a pitifully small room. Does it befit my status as an overseas PhD?"
"Would you stay in a servant's room?"
Lian Boyu refused without thinking: "No!"
Just kidding, letting an overseas medical PhD live in a servant's room? If that got out, wouldn't people laugh their heads off?
"I want to live on the second floor."
He had just wandered around the second floor; don't think he didn't know there were many empty rooms on the second floor.
"Get out!" Gu Yanchen roared, raising his gun again. Lian Boyu was so scared he hurriedly fled the room, no longer mentioning the matter of living on the second floor.
