43: Chapter 43 The Appearance of Mercenaries

"What's wrong, Baby? Who called?"

Seeing Su Yue's expression change drastically after finishing the call, Gu Yanchen asked with concern, his eyes filled with worry.

Su Yue took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down, and told Gu Yanchen with a serious expression, "Uncle Butler said someone is heading this way!"

Upon hearing this news, Gu Yanchen's heart sank, and he realized the severity of the situation.

He immediately picked up the binoculars placed to the side and carefully observed the surroundings.

Through the binoculars, Gu Yanchen indeed spotted several men carrying long guns walking in their direction.

These men moved with vigorous strides and rapid actions, clearly having undergone professional training. The long guns in their hands glinted with a cold light that sent shivers down one's spine.

What shocked Gu Yanchen even more was that these men didn't seem to fear the surrounding zombies; instead, they shot at them without hesitation.

The guns made no sound, as if they were silenced, and the zombies fell to the ground one after another, their blood staining the ground red.

Watching this scene, Gu Yanchen's brows furrowed tighter and tighter.

He knew well that the arrival of these people was by no means a coincidence; they must have some ulterior motive.

And had he and Su Yue already fallen into an unforeseen crisis?

Su Yue looked at Gu Yanchen's grave expression, and a sense of unease welled up in her heart. She reached for the binoculars to see for herself but was stopped by Gu Yanchen.

Su Yue looked at him, puzzled, and asked, "Can't I look?"

Gu Yanchen took a deep breath and said slowly, "That's right, it's a bit disgusting."

Just now, those men had blown the zombies' heads apart, leaving them shattered all over the ground; the scene was very disgusting. He didn't want Su Yue to see such a bloody sight, fearing it would frighten her.

Once he said that, Su Yue became even more curious and insisted on picking up the binoculars to take a look. Gu Yanchen was too late to stop her.

Su Yue's face instantly turned pale, and her stomach churned.

Although she had grown accustomed to such scenes in her past life, she still found it somewhat difficult to accept for a moment.

Su Yue forced herself to endure the discomfort, put down the binoculars, and her eyes were filled with fear.

As the figures of those people became clearer, she was suddenly shocked—she had seen these people in her past life! They were a group of Mercenaries who specialized in hunting zombies, cold-blooded and ruthless in their methods.

This made Su Yue feel very uneasy. Why would these people appear here? Could it be that her rebirth had caused many things to deviate from their original course?

Seeing Su Yue looking so frightened, Gu Yanchen felt very heartbroken, so he hugged her tightly and comforted her softly, "Don't be afraid, Baby, I'm here by your side!"

His voice was gentle and firm, which made Su Yue feel much more at ease.

Su Yue raised her head, her eyes revealing a trace of unease, and cautiously probed, "A-Yan, who do you think those people are?"

She tried to get some answers from Gu Yanchen.

Gu Yanchen furrowed his brows, thought for a moment, and then shook his head, "I don't know."

Su Yue nodded inwardly, thinking that was true. The current Gu Yanchen was still just a teenager; his world mainly revolved around school, family, and friends. Naturally, he wouldn't know much about those mysterious strangers.

Outside the Villa

After shooting the zombies, Mercenary A turned to look at the leader and found him staring fixedly at the Villa in front, his eyes as sharp as an eagle's.

He couldn't help but ask curiously, "Boss, why are you staring at this Villa?"

The leader's expression was exceptionally serious. His gaze, like two beams of cold light, was locked tightly onto the second floor of the Villa, and he whispered, "Someone on the second floor is watching us."

Hearing these words, Mercenary A's heart tightened, and he immediately became alert. He quickly adjusted his stance and aimed his gun at the Villa.

He narrowed his eyes slightly, trying to see the situation on the second floor through the darkness, but the distance was too great, and his vision was blurry.

Mercenary A speculated inwardly: Could there be an enemy hiding there? Or is it just an ordinary survivor? But regardless, they could not lower their guard.

In this world full of crises, any slight negligence could lead to fatal consequences.

The leader continued to stare, his brows slightly furrowed, as if thinking about the next course of action.

After a while, he waved his hand gently, signaling them to leave.

Although Mercenary A was full of doubts, he still chose to trust the leader's decision.

After all, the leader had always been a trustworthy person.

They followed the leader and left this place without hesitation.

Gu Yanchen stared fixedly through the binoculars at the figures of the Mercenaries as they gradually moved away.

The questions in his heart grew stronger. He had clearly seen the killing intent in the eyes of those Mercenaries, but why did they choose to leave at this critical moment?

This question troubled Gu Yanchen, causing him to fall into deep thought. Could there be other motives behind these Mercenaries? Or perhaps their actions were restricted or directed by something?

All sorts of speculations flooded his mind, making the already complex situation even more confusing.

Gu Yanchen knew that he had to remain vigilant at all times and not lower his guard, because they could reappear at any moment.
