32: Chapter 32 Housing Allocation

Early morning.

Nie Ning walked out of the woodshed looking weary, stood outside the door, and stretched.

Although a knight's physique allowed him to go for long periods without sleep, he simply had too much to do.

His daytime work was simple, taking only about two or three hours.

However, besides that, he needed to cultivate, practice techniques, and study wizard scripts; almost every task was extremely energy-consuming.

Plus, having to go out from time to time in the middle of the night, even an iron-willed body could hardly support such high-intensity consumption.

At this moment, Norma walked slowly towards Nie Ning.

Norma still had her nose in the air, looking at Nie Ning sideways as she had before.

Nie Ning was already used to this.

It was just a bit strange; it wasn't time for work yet, so why did Norma come running over at this time?

Immediately, Nie Ning asked using sign language.

Norma's sign language was on par with Lilith's, and it took Nie Ning quite a while to understand what she meant.

Nie Ning couldn't help but complain silently in his heart.

"Couldn't you just speak while gesturing? I'm not actually deaf..."

And the reason Norma came to find him was very simple.

Since Matt returned, in order to respond to the call of the Wilbes Republic and commit to creating a living environment where everyone is "equal," Matt had rebuilt the accommodations for the attendants and servants in the manor.

Of course, true equality was impossible; it could only be said that they were starting to treat the servants as human beings.

After all, they were still working for someone else; to have equality, one at least needs to be in the same class as them.

Upon learning about the room assignment, Nie Ning hurriedly asked how they were being divided.

If it was still several people to a room, he might as well continue sleeping in the woodshed; otherwise, his cultivation would definitely be affected.

Following that, as Norma explained, Nie Ning learned it was two people per room, and he immediately showed a lack of interest.

"Looks like there's no new room for me, I might as well keep sleeping in the woodshed."

Norma rolled her eyes at this; didn't he know his own status?

"There are quite a few vacant rooms there. I asked for a separate room for you, you can move in directly..."

Seeming to realize that Nie Ning couldn't speak, Norma used sign language to indicate that it was Lilith who had allocated a separate room for him.

Nie Ning looked at Norma with a strange expression.

He hadn't expected this person with her nose in the air to be so kind.

Could it be that he was already so handsome that he could capture someone's heart just with his domineering aura?

Seeing the look in Nie Ning's eyes, Norma suddenly let out a loud "Ah!" right next to his ear, as if to confirm whether Nie Ning could hear.

Unfortunately, Nie Ning was no longer the same Nie Ning as before.

Long periods of training and the improvement of his strength had long since tempered Nie Ning's state of mind to be calm and unruffled; ordinary frights could not affect him at all.

Nie Ning wiped the saliva from his ear and rolled his eyes at Norma.

Norma's face flushed slightly, realizing she had been a bit uncomposed. She could only gesture for Nie Ning to "follow me," then walked hurriedly toward the north side of the manor.

...

Following Norma, they arrived at the former staff dormitory.

The original buildings had all been demolished and replaced with one-story bungalows.

But Norma didn't stop; instead, she passed through a courtyard gate and came to the other side.

Before them were four independent small buildings, surrounded by many flowers and plants.

The detached buildings were three stories tall, and next to them was a separate small room, which looked like it was meant to be used as a kitchen.

Nie Ning glanced at Norma somewhat strangely; given his rank in the manor, he shouldn't be able to live in such a nice place, right?

Norma pointed to the small room used as a kitchen, signaling that Nie Ning could live inside there.

Nie Ning scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Just now, he had really naively thought he could live in the big house...

No need to think about it; this was definitely where knights lived, and it was likely Norma's residence.

Nie Ning walked into the kitchen and took a look; inside were two small compartments, one for cooking and the other for storing miscellaneous items.

It was quite nice, but what if Norma needed to use the kitchen?

As someone with secrets, he didn't want Norma to come in and visit for no reason; in that case, the staff dormitory over there would be better.

But upon second thought, Nie Ning couldn't help but look back at Norma.

Hmm, she probably didn't know how to cook...

Norma seemed to read Nie Ning's gaze; her face flushed slightly, and she unconsciously gave Nie Ning a flick on the forehead.

Nie Ning rubbed his head but still expressed his gratitude using sign language.

Although he had no requirements for where he lived, compared to the flea-ridden woodshed, living here was clearly more comfortable.

With this, Nie Ning could finally count as having his own room.

Afterward, while Norma went to work, Nie Ning moved all his things over in one go.

He filled the pit where he had buried his sword back up with dirt, to avoid anyone discovering those weapons later.

The new room had a lock on the door, which saved Nie Ning a lot of trouble.

Although it still couldn't stop a knight's strength, at least Norma couldn't just walk in.

...

Half a month later.

Nie Ning sat on the bed, with a few books and a pile of scribbled draft paper beside him.

During this time, Nie Ning had been trying to cultivate the Qiong Guang Meditation Method.

But the result was as expected: there was simply no way to cultivate it successfully.

Every time he tried to cultivate, he would experience a splitting headache, and he would become lethargic and listless, as if he had fallen ill with a serious sickness.

After learning from Borton that he couldn't obtain anything related to wizards, and harboring a yearning for the path of the wizard, Nie Ning began the work of modifying the Qiong Guang Meditation Method.

Half a month later, Nie Ning had finally created a passable simplified version of the Meditation Technique.

Nie Ning picked up the Meditation Technique he had designed and looked at it again and again.

Although he felt his spirit had improved a bit during the last experiment, the Seed of Dou Qi inside his body had gone berserk.

And because the Seed of Dou Qi was located at his heart, it had almost sent him to his grave; he had only managed to pull through by relying on his extraordinary self-healing ability.

Thinking of the strange abilities of wizards, Nie Ning gritted his teeth and immediately began cultivating the simplified version of the Qiong Guang Meditation Method.

Just like last time, as soon as he entered the meditative state, Nie Ning felt his thinking become much clearer; many things he couldn't figure out became clear at this moment.

However, this was just the beginning; what followed was the most difficult part.

If his Dou Qi or blood energy showed signs of going berserk again, it would prove that this Meditation Technique still hadn't been modified successfully.

He also needed to be careful about the side effects triggered during cultivation to avoid being sent to his grave like last time.

As time passed, the imagined rampage of blood energy did not occur; everything seemed so harmonious, and it looked as if he had truly succeeded.

But gradually, Nie Ning discovered something wrong.

And it was a very serious problem!
