7: Chapter 7 Catching Adultery

Seeing Lilith's furious expression, Nie Ning felt an inexplicable shudder in his heart.

Could it be that his act of pretending to be deaf and mute had been discovered?

But then Lilith began gesturing with her hands.

Although Nie Ning couldn't fully understand Lilith's sign language, combined with her angry words, he finally understood why Lilith was so furious.

Lilith's best friend had been cheated on!

The Hervis Family wasn't considered a major family in Ska City, but that didn't hinder the interactions between these families.

And Lilith had a close friend named Evinny Watt, a young lady from a baronial family.

Nie Ning had seen Evinny a few times.

Green hair, red eyes, a graceful figure, and a beautiful face.

It was just her personality that was fiery—she would start pulling hair and cursing at the slightest disagreement. She was famously shrewish in Ska City, someone even dogs would avoid.

Currently, the Wilbes Republic was in a period of reform, but the status of the nobility remained difficult to shake. Most who dared to do such things had already vanished without a trace.

To think someone dared to cheat on this woman—who knew which brave soul was this bold.

And the reason Lilith came to find Nie Ning was simple.

Catching the cheater!

At this point, Nie Ning's eyes lit up. He loved joining in on the excitement.

He immediately patted his chest, signaling that he would definitely catch that scumbag later!

...

Following Lilith to the entrance of the manor.

At that moment, more than ten carriages were already parked at the gate, along with many young masters and ladies dressed in splendid attire.

Nie Ning widened his eyes. Were they going this big today?

Aside from some family gatherings, this was the first time he had seen such a spectacle, which spoke to the solid relationships between these families.

"We were just waiting for you. Let's go quickly."

The speaker was none other than Evinny, with her green hair, red eyes, and a black gown.

From her twisted face, struggling to suppress her anger, one could tell Evinny's current mood.

The group of young masters and ladies didn't delay. They boarded the carriages and, accompanied by their entourages, set off grandly toward the southern part of the city.

...

Led by Evinny, the group arrived at a residential area in the southern part of the city.

Rows of five-story buildings filled the area, surrounded by artificial hills, flowing water, and greenery everywhere.

Nie Ning knew a bit about this place. It was said to house many mistresses and was famous for producing 'green tea'.

As the carriages stopped, Nie Ning couldn't help but frown.

His gaze swept over the pedestrians around them. Hostility continuously came from all directions; clearly, the people here didn't welcome them.

But that was somewhat normal. After all, with such a grand display, it was obvious what they were here for.

The group of young masters and ladies stepped down from the carriages. Pedestrians on the road hurriedly made way, many looking guilty, as if they had done something shameful.

"Surround this place!"

Evinny pointed at a building in front of her and shouted loudly.

At the signal of the young masters and ladies, their respective attendants went to the building and surrounded the entire structure.

As Lilith's servant, Nie Ning was naturally no exception.

Nie Ning couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

'No fun to watch now.'

Immediately after, Evinny angrily led a group of people into the building.

...

While waiting, the attendants began whispering and gossiping among themselves.

"I heard that guy is an outsider. Who knows what got into him, daring to do such a thing in Ska City, completely disregarding Miss Evinny."

"Exactly. Throwing away a bright future just to stir up trouble."

"Don't speak carelessly. I heard that guy has quite a background. He might be the son of some noble."

"Miss Evinny is also a noble lady, and this is Ska City. With such a grand display today, that guy is probably in for a rough time."

"Not necessarily. What if they reconcile..."

"Ahem!"

Suddenly, a cold snort interrupted everyone's discussion.

Everyone turned to look. It was one of the attendants Evinny had brought, the Elementary Knight Kofi.

Under Kofi's unfriendly gaze, the attendants quickly shut their mouths.

Nie Ning glanced at Kofi, then shifted his gaze away.

An Elementary Stage strength was formidable for ordinary people, but in front of him, it was somewhat inadequate. He estimated he could subdue him in one move.

If he could obtain the other's body...

Suddenly, Nie Ning's eyes shifted.

He truly couldn't leave his post without permission, but he didn't need to leave his position!

Thinking of this, Nie Ning took advantage of no one paying attention and secretly activated the 'Assisting Evil' trait.

As a wisp of white smoke drifted past, it quickly floated upward, finally condensing into a translucent Human-Faced Balloon in front of a fourth-floor window.

Different from the commotion Nie Ning had imagined, the group of young masters and ladies were sitting upright, heads bowed like children who had done something wrong.

On the sofa opposite them, a woman with a mature charm was reclining.

The woman looked to be in her twenties, beautiful and enchanting. She wore a simple white printed gown, but an aura of authority emanated from her.

Beside the woman stood a young man.

Like the young masters and ladies, he stood with his head bowed.

Before Nie Ning could figure out what was happening inside, the woman suddenly turned her head to look at a corner of the window—exactly where the Human-Faced Balloon was.

Nie Ning's heart jolted: 'Discovered!'

After all, as a spiritual entity, the Human-Faced Balloon naturally possessed concealment abilities. Without careful attention, it was nearly impossible to detect.

The fourth-floor window suddenly shattered. Before Nie Ning could recall the Human-Faced Balloon, the woman had already arrived on the windowsill.

Seeing this, Nie Ning immediately directed the Human-Faced Balloon to rush into the building opposite.

But the Human-Faced Balloon had only flown halfway when it was imprisoned in mid-air by an invisible force. No matter how Nie Ning tried to summon it, it was useless.

"How could something like this be here?"

The woman's voice rang out like silver bells. Her slender, fair right hand made a slight gesture, and the Human-Faced Balloon seemed to be pulled toward her.

Looking at the strange balloon before her, the woman showed a puzzled expression.

It hadn't attacked her, nor had it revealed its eerie traits. This clearly didn't match her understanding of such things.

And...

Seeing the Human-Faced Balloon struggling continuously, the woman seemed to think of something. In her momentary distraction, the Human-Faced Balloon broke free from its restraints and rushed into the building opposite.

A faint light flickered in the woman's eyes. She didn't take any other measures, simply watching as the Human-Faced Balloon left.

...

As the Human-Faced Balloon was recalled by Nie Ning, he couldn't help but feel relieved.

That woman was truly terrifying. Her strength definitely far surpassed that of an Elementary Knight like him.

At least with his current abilities, without 'Assisting Evil', he wouldn't be able to touch a spiritual entity, let alone imprison one.

But soon, Nie Ning frowned.

He had been too panicked earlier, only thinking of recalling the Human-Faced Balloon quickly, without considering the underlying issues.

Didn't the Human-Faced Balloon return too easily?

With her strength, she shouldn't have made such a mistake.
